Another tiring day at work. Meeting after meeting and unread e-mails kept increasing. Sonya couldn't even remember the last time she spent a day at work when she didn't have to do anything. She worked in a corporate company, where she processed client data. Before the flight, everyone needs to have everything ready immediately. She packed her things and was ready to leave the office. She didn't want to be in the rain outside. It was the 25th of May, she imagined that by this time she would already have her summer collection ready in her closet. Instead, she was still wearing her coat and currently had a collection of sweaters and pants in her closet. She couldn't wait for the sunny weather and how she would be able to walk in just her clothes. She hated the cold and several layers of clothing. "Sonya, you're still here. Can you have a word?" her boss ran after her. Since he wanted to catch up with her before leaving, he probably ran across the entire office, as he was panting for breath. Sonya grumbled in her mind and followed him to the next meeting. "I don't know if he will better to start the debate officially or with some kind of joke," he cleared his throat and adjusted his tie. It could be seen that he was very uncomfortable and Sonya was beginning to fear the worst, "I won't hold you back and I'll tell you straight out. Thanks to your great results, the client asked you for a relocation." Sonya's heart dropped a stone, but at the same time a million questions appeared in her head. But only one came out: " Where to?" "It's Alex based in England." Alex was an electronics company. Sonya processed several dozens of reports for them, from various fields, and with their product manager she really understood the most out of all her five clients. She was pleased, but England? A land of eternal rain and gloom. She hated nothing more than the English weather. She had been to London once with high school and that trip was enough to last her a lifetime. It rained exactly six days out of the whole week. "For now, it's only for the summer, departure next week. Think about it until tomorrow and let me know. Here are some documents - relocation and salary conditions and also some benefits. Take it easy tonight and I'll arrange a meeting for you tomorrow, when you'll tell me what you've decided." Sonya took all the papers that her boss shoved under her nose and left the meeting still in shock. The whole way home she was thinking about what to do next. She was 25 years old, single and without commitments, so there was nothing to keep her in Manhattan, except her best friend, Paige, with whom she shared an apartment. She worked the first year after school and was already offered the opportunity to develop her career. She liked that. However, she could not imagine being completely alone in a new city. When she got home, she opened the wine that she and Misha had in stock by the liter. Paige worked as a teacher in an elementary school, so every day after work she had the same ritual. She was not at home today, so Sonya at least had more peace to think. She took all the documents and moved to the living room. Sonya and Paige lived on the outskirts of Manhattan in a small two and a half room apartment. Each had her own room and they spent time together in the living room, which led seamlessly into the kitchen. They have lived here for only a year, since they both graduated from university. They have known each other since childhood, since Paige moved to their street. They were an inseparable pair from elementary school, they went through high school together, and when they both got to universities in Manhattan, their childhood dream of living together began to come true. Sonya graduated in economics and Paige in pedagogy. Except for the first year, which they both spent in a dormitory, they shared one room in a student apartment throughout their studies. After receiving the degree, they found their current apartment. As Sonya settled comfortably on the couch and sipped a good log of wine, she began to study the materials for her transfer. She was to move to Manchester. Since she was never interested in England, she didn't even really know where it was. Everything was included in the relocation package, for an ideal start. The client would pay for her plane tickets, city transport, living in a separate apartment and even offered her a higher salary than she had now. It sounded so wonderful that she was sorry it would only be for three months. When Paige returned home, Sonya was impatiently waiting for her. "Only a month to go and I'll finally have a break from this crazy person," Paige entered home with an angry expression. Seeing Paige without her famous smile on her face was unusual, but recently very common. Paige had the most perfect smile that Sonya had ever seen. All her life. she disarmed everyone with it and attracted attention everywhere with her appearance. She had thick blond hair and blue eyes. She liked to dress provocatively, but with her thin and tall figure she could afford it. She was always friendly with everyone. Sonya, on the contrary, you she had the reputation of being an ice queen. She only gave out smiles in the circle of those closest to her, and many times she encountered people telling her how conceited she was. But she didn't care. Sonya loved fashion and the latest trends, she had long brown hair and brown eyes. She was even taller like Misha, so they both went through various insults in their childhood. "I see you had a good day." "Don't even ask. It's getting worse the further it goes. It's good that the wine is already open, I'm looking forward to drinking it all the way home," Paige took the glass and you poured it full, "what about you at work?" Also a disaster?" " Actually, I have one news. They transferred me to England for the summer!!" "Wow! That's great news," Paige hugged her friend and they toasted. Sonya showed her all the papers and talked about how she found out about the job.
