Kiara:
I walked around the campsite wanting to explore it after Abby had treated my wound, though limping as I did, I was watching a water stream only to feel eyes on me.
I frowned and looked around as a heavy feeling rested in my chest, I didn't know what it was, but it felt like some pull, and not an unpleasant one, the exact opposite actually.
My eyes caught a shadow standing on a big rock, brown eyes sparkled in the dim light as the creature stared at me my heart fluttering as I wanted to go near it, the urge to approach it was so strong that I found myself taking a step forward as if in a trance.
"Kiara?" I heard Coblet's voice from behind me and I snapped my gaze toward him my brain waking up from the fogginess I was in.
"Hi" I said smiling at him, he followed my gaze to see nothing which made him frown in confusion.
"You okay?" He asked softly and I nodded.
"Yeah" I said looking him in the eye "thank you for letting me come" I said feeling thankful.
"Don't mention it love" he said gently.
"Can I ask you what put you in this situation in the first place?" He asked carefully and I gulped.
"My step dad kicked me out after having his son and since I'm my mother's bastard daughter, my mother didn't bother keeping me" I said looking at my feet, Coblet didn't answer but he walked toward me and gently place his finger under my chin raising my face to make me look him in the eye.
"It's okay, you don't need to feel ashamed" Coblet said gently "my own mum kicked me out too claiming that I was a disgrace to her, most of us live the same way, but here we're all family"
I found my eyes water at his words, and he wrapped his arms around me pulling me into a hug, I wrapped my own arms around him wanting to feel some kind of security it being the first hug I ever remember getting.
"You're safe now love"
Four years later:
"Rise and shine sleepy head" I said waking Abby up, her eyes fluttered open as she smiled and got up.
"Good morning love" Abby said as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, her and I have been sharing a tent since I came here.
"Good morning" I smiled "come on time to get up, Coblet has work for us"
"So, you guys know what to do" I heard Coblet tell a few kids as they were all huddled around him.
He stopped talking when he saw me come out of the tent and smiled as he nodded at me being the leader of the street boys and girls here, each of us had to follow his rules.
Not that we minded anyway, he was a fair and strong leader despite his young age and for that we all loved and respected him.
"Do you understand how important this is?" He asked looking at all of us, the girls and boys nodded as he spoke, we were to stop the prince's carriage which was passing town, we wouldn't do anything to physically harm him, maybe just cause a little stir.
"What about the guards?" Cassie asked removing her blonde hair from her face.
"You are females, be smart and use your potential" he said calmly, and we nodded.
"Not you" he told me "you've got a different job"
He never liked me joining the dirty work of seducing, selling my body or even interacting with most of the men of the kingdom.
"Which is?" I asked.
"You love are going to be the one climbing the prince's carriage" Coblet said calmly, yeah, I would be put in the face of danger.
"Then what?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Use your skills" he smirked, and I nodded smiling.
"Would I be taking anything?" I asked and Coblet shook his head.
"Leave that job for us, your only task is to stop that carriage and cause a stir" I looked and Coblet and nodded planning what I was going to do.
"Alex, you will be watching out for her from a far, should you see a guard aiming for her you shoot the arrow" Coblet said looking at Alexander who nodded running a hand through his black hair.
"What if it hits Kiara? The carriage will be moving, and she will literally be in the public" Abby asked worrying about me, she's always been the mother figure to me.
"She's been trained for this, she'll know what to do" Coblet said calmly, his eyes met mine and I nodded.
"I'll go freshen up" I smirked and walked to my and Abby's tent to get a pair of trousers, tight shirt and my hood from my clothes box.
One of the girls had sold her virginity for us to have access to a clean shower which right now was where I was going.
"Stay safe" Abby said entering the tent making me smile and nod at her.
"Don't worry Abby, safe isn't one of my best traits though" I teased making her shake her head and laugh.
"This is different Kiara, unlike anything we've ever done before" she said trying to talk some sense into me, but to no avail of course.
"I know Abby, don't worry your head about it, I'll manage" I said softly, and she sighed but nodded running her fingers through her hair in a nervous manner.
She knew how stubborn I was, having arrived when I was thirteen and gotten stubborn as I got older, she couldn't handle my stubbornness then, she didn't think she could handle it now when I was seventeen.
"Go, I'll make sure everything you need is ready when you're back" she sighed, and I nodded walking out of the tent and to the showers.
*****************************
I hung my wet dress on the string and went to my tent to get what I needed.
I found Abby sharpening my dagger for me, she handed it to me much to her dismay and I smiled as I put in in my belt before covering my head with the hood and walking out of the tent toward Coblet with Abby following close behind.
"Ready?" He asked and I nodded knowing what I needed to do.
"Good, this could be our best heist yet and if it works we've got our food set for at least a few months" he said and I nodded before running toward one of the buildings and jumping on its roof my eyes searching for the royal carriage.
It took a while, but an hour later I saw the carriage pass the downtown making me smirk as I took out my dagger and used the sunlight for reflection catching Coblet's attention.
He nodded at me and I could see him yell orders at the other kids before I made my way from roof to roof following the carriage.
"It's now or never Kiara"
