AVERY'S POV
Henry did not seem startled or worried despite all the disturbing things I revealed to him. It made me free to tell him more. He held a smile all through my boring speech on the hierarchy of the supernatural world with the Vampires being the lowest.
"So faebloods are like the rulers." He asked brushing a tendril of hair from my face.
A warm sensation engulfed me and I did not quite like it.
"I don't know. We dare not show our face to the council. We are seen as beasts and hunger craved psychos." I admitted, biting my lips that it almost bled.
Henry seemed to notice my discomfort in saying how we were treated. He held my chin so that I could meet his enchanting gaze.
"I don't think you are a monster."
I wished. Henry hardly knew what I had done. He was far too trusting. All that preoccupied my mind when I was with him as to open and drink him up like a juice box. It was even worse than I was attracted to him.
"Beautiful."
I heard a voice whisper in my mind. It wasn't me and I knew it definitely wasn't Damian. I looked up to meet Henry's eyes. It was him. This was unheard of. A vampire and a human sharing a mind link. It was a sacred bond or perhaps it was just part of the curse they had to bear. Henry's smile disappeared and it dawned to me that he could also read my thoughts.
Urgh! Now I could feel what Damian had to go through every passing day.
"Did you feel that? It was like..."
"You could read my thoughts." I completed.
"Yes."
No use hiding more of the curse now.
"I don't know but somehow we've bonded and I might possibly share a mind link with you," I revealed trying to guess what his expression entailed. The answer wasn't far fetched. Peeping into his mind, I could tell he was elated. It was kind of like he wanted it.
And I thought I knew everyone.
"Cool." He said running his palms together and I could tell he was trying to think of pure things. Some dirty thoughts however escaped and I could tell he wanted to do things to me.
"Sorry." He apologized, knowing I had brushed through his mind.
"So... See you at school tomorrow?" He added.
With Victor on a mad rampage to hunt me down. A huge public palace was the best hiding place for me right now.
"I'll be there," I responded.
He flashed his white set of teeth and marched out almost bumping into Damian on his way out.
I stifled a chuckle when this happened. I felt different and wondered if this was love.
"So did he take it well?" Damian asked, disrupting my thoughts
"He did."
Damian sent me a doubtful look. He really wanted to wipe Henry but not after Kyle, A boy in my former school who kept on discovering my secret. The third wipe changed him. He was charged with serial killing and diagnosed with psychosis. History could not repeat itself.
"I'm also going to school tomorrow" just in case people are worried that I missed three days of school and I just arrived," I added to make sure he knew why I was going. It was a lie though. I knew I was only going because of Henry and why we suddenly shared a mind link. Until then it would be my little secret.
KALIM'S POV
I just could not understand my father's fear. Why wouldn't he let me be what I was meant to be. If he wasn't ready to tell me the truth then I was ready to defy him. I picked up my phone and dialed the number one of the protectors had given me. There was a lot I wanted to know but my father was not ready to give me those answers.
"Hello!"
"Bounty or weaponry?"
The soothing voice asked.
"Both," I replied.
I heard the clicking of buttons and out of nowhere, a slender sword with an emerald adorned to its hilt appeared on my bed.
"Slashmaster 200 for professionals."
Why the hell would the lady think he was a professional then it dawned to him that she thought he was his father.
"Bounty?" I asked noticing she hasn't sent a bounty.
"Coming up."
The beeping sound followed and a scroll appeared on my bed.
"Bounty sent."
"Thanks for patronizing the hunts, Thank you."
Beep!
I dropped my phone on my bed and opened the scroll to read. The name Victor sprite caught my attention. It had his details and his crimes. Some were about killing faebloods.
This man had to be a dangerous person but if this was the step he had to take to know the truth then he was more than willing to hunt down a...sidhe. Whatever that was.
I grasped the sword and the hilt glowed a shimmering green color that brightened the room. I had to hide it before my father noticed anything odd. I could already begin to burst in antipation of who I was going to s***h with my new toy, then my father would know this world was meant for me. My room was quite small so I had to hide it where my father would never check my laundry basket. It was overfilled with dirty clothes I felt too lazy to wash. I upheaved the clothes in the basket and placed the sword and the scroll inside before throwing the clothes back inside to cover it up. I jumped back to the bed barely able to wait for the next morning..
Sweet dreams.
VICTOR'S POV
Madness. I wouldn't dare show up on Athenrim. I am fugitive after all but the blood moon was close approaching and I won't wait another century to kill the pureblood. It was the only way to get the amnesty I really needed. I could tell that numerous faeblood would be on the hunt for me now and there was limited time but I had plenty of hounds at my disposal to send after the rat that escaped me.
I saw the house of my taste. A cream-colored bungalow that seemed to blend with already bleak serenity. I walked up to the door, my hounds following me. I knocked on the door hoping to get its inhabitants to open. An old woman opened the door. From her previous file, she was a widow. At leats, she made herself one. The woman's hair was grey and was covered with an apron beret. Her skin was moist and sweat threaded down her wrinkles like a slide. She had nicotine-stained teeth and did not hesitate to flash her stomach turning grin..
"Mrs Clare," I said putting on an innocent smile.
It was dark but I needed a place to stay at least for my vampire minions who would get irritations from sunlight.
"We need a place to stay."
The woman's cheerful and inviting face deteriorated and she gave us a sore look.
"I'm sorry but I don't do charity." She spat and banged the door right at my face. I sighed. She was such a dumb lady to reject my outstretched arm of piece. It was such a pity she would have to die so young.
"Brick," I called on one of my minions who wore black sunshades and a leather jacket to match.
"Yes, boss?" He said, more like a growl.
"Do what you must."
The doorknob was forced open and the woman turned, her mouth opening wildly to alert neighbors but he was too fast. Brick went right for her neck snapping it and shutting her up forever. His face was stained with blood as he licked off the remnant of her life force that still dripped down at the edge of his chin. The woman lay on the floor, her blood slowly forming a crimson pool for one.
What a disgusting sight!
"Clean up yourself and dispose of her," I instructed Brick. He nodded in response and went to work.
I turned to the other vampire. Nicholas, a dark-haired vampire that always seemed to maintain his cool at least for a ripper. He was my fiercest soldier, one who rarely disappointed.
"Find them and do what you must," I commanded and he fled out of the room.
Avery would barely know what hit her. She knew he was close but not like this. To think they were safe here was their biggest mistake.
AVERYS POV
The searing heat from the innocent rays of the sun sent a tingling sensation to my face. I roused and quickly applied my lotion to the spot, soothing the pain. It was 7:00 am. O let out a yawn before going to the shower.
At 8:00, I was fully dressed and went to the living room. Damian was working on his laptop as endlessly as ever. I wanted to get myself a quick drink when I noticed another person sitting on one of the couch and watching TV.
What was Henry doing here?
He turned and smiled when he saw me.
"I thought vampires don't sleep." He yelled from across the living room. A part of me was happy he was not afraid of me but a more responsible part of me wished he knew none of this. It could put him in a whole lot of mess.
What came out of my mouth was,
"Come on, Not everything in movies should be trusted."
He has a mock surrender and I went to the refrigerator pulling out a bag of O+, my favorite. I joined him in the living room sinking my fangs to feed. Recently, I felt free with him. It could be as a result of the bond. Done with breakfast, I licked my fangs to clean them of any blood.
"Let's go," I said to Henry, slacking my backpack on.
"Bye." I sent to Damian who didn't even turn back.
The walk to school was quite not far but Henry insisted he wanted to show me something. We took a turn to the woods. I had a ceremony that someone was following us but I shrugged it off as small animals scurrying around.
"This is it," Henry said, pointing to a stone figurine. It was the troll I had killed earlier. Being a nature troll, it must return to nature and they were what it did. It turned to a rocky statue with moss dressing it.
"I just noticed it. Do you know anything about it?" Henry said.
I wanted to answer but before I could, I heard a twig snap and birds flew off whatever they were scavenging on. My senses alerted and I turned to meet a scary sight. A bulky man looking in his early thirties approached us. His eyes were frightening and he had a scowl plastered on his face.
"What do you want?" Henry demanded, keeping a boldface but it was obvious he was afraid. The man did not stop until he was only a few meters from us.
"The last pureblood." He growled out.
Avery's defenses activated. This was a ripper. The vampire turned to the weakest among them, Henry.
"Henry, run," Avery yelled but before he could even take a step, the vampire was already where he stood, exposing his fangs.
We needed help.
