Chapter 13: Price to pay!

Zoe woke up next to Akihiko very happy. She was right, Akihiko had taken to the Dominator role very well. He had teased her to the point of madness and oblivion, before taking her incredibly hard. Zoe loved every second of it and could not remember when she had come so hard! Though she doubt she could walk without hobbling for a few days!
There was a knock at the door and Zoe groaned as she tried to de tangle herself from Akihiko’s arms.
“Leave it!” He growled sleepily holding on to her. There was no way he wanted his sexy little Dragon to leave this bed. She had been so responsive to his touch, his c**k was getting hard just thinking about last night.
The banging continued and they heard Dave shout “Zoe? Zoe, I know you are in there! The whole town heard you screaming like a banshee last night, so get your arse out of bed!”
“Uh crap! I guess I was a little loud!” Zoe sighed getting up and putting on a dressing gown.
“Tell him to f**k off and come back to bed. That is an order!” Akihiko said
“Now, now! You know the rules, you can’t order me to do anything......at the moment” she said with a wink as she left the room.
“God dam it women, you will be the death of me!” Akihiko grumped, thinking of ways to punish her that they would both enjoyed.
Zoe opened the door to a flustered Dave. “What’s up?” Zoe asked
“Work rang....they asked you to do a late night shift. Maria is sick” Dave said. His eyes were darting everywhere behind her.
“I am on holiday!” Zoe moaned
“Can I come in? Please?” Dave said
“I have got guests..” Zoe said but Dave barged passed her as he looked around.
“Dave!” Zoe protested. Dave looked like he was doing a fabric check on the building, he was checking the locks, windows and even the ceiling.
“Dave what in God’s name are you doing?” Zoe snapped
“I was about to ask the same question” Akihiko said coming out of Zoe’s room in a pair of PJ bottoms. He folded his arms across his chest and glared at Dave.
“Landlord checks, that is all. Zoe why don’t you go downstairs and make me a coffee” Dave said
“Dave, you..” Zoe said
“Coffee now please!” Dave shouted, taking Zoe by complete surprised.
“Don’t you dare....” Akihiko said squaring up to Dave. How dare he talk to her like that! He thought furiously.
“Woah, calm down guys, I get you your Coffee Dave. Just relax, OK?” Zoe said as she pushed them apart. When she was satisfied they were gone to hit each other she left and went into the kitchen.
“You really need to back off Chairman ..,...” Dave growled
“You know who I am?” Akihiko said, his eyes narrowing. The syndicates may be busy, but there was always mercenaries lurking around.
“Of course I do! You need to back off and stop complicating things!” Dave growled
“If you know who I am, then you know that is never going to happen!” Akihiko growled back.
“Then you are going to make her pay the price for your stupidity over Alannah!” Dave said through gritted teeth.
“Please don’t tell me Alannah is another one of your Ex’s Akihiko? Seriously is there any women you have not slept with? You are such a man slut! Am I just another notch on your bedpost hey?” Zoe teased as she brought Dave his coffee.
“You need to be careful my little white rabbit, things are not what they seem. Especially, when you go through the looking glass” Dave said. Shock and then concern look flashed over her face before she put on a fake smile. Unbeknownst to Akihiko, Dave had just told Zoe that Akihiko was part of the syndicate world and she was in danger.
“Well even white rabbits need a bit of fun!” Zoe said letting Dave know she understood and Dave nodded as he finished his coffee.
“Indeed. Work tonight?” Dave asked
“Yes, I could do with the money. I be there at 6.00” Zoe said biting her bottom lip. Dave smiled and handed Zoe the cup back.
“I let myself out, just make sure you have Alice tonight. Promise me!” Dave said under his breath.
“Of course, stop worrying Dave” Zoe said as he hugged him.
“I could not stand if..” Dave said
“Nothing will...stop being so dramatically !” Zoe said cheerfully. Dave gave one more evil glare and went outside. Zoe sighed and went into the kitchen.
She was washing up the cup when she felt Akihiko’s arms snake round her waist.
“You are not, you know” Akihiko said as she felt her stiffen. Akihiko started to kiss her shoulder and neck in an attempt to sooth her ruffled feathers.
“Not what?” Zoe said pretending not to know what he was talking about. She needed to keep a cool head after what Dave declared.
“Zoe, look at me!” Akihiko ordered as he turned her around and said “You are not a notch on my post”
“It doesn’t matter if I am, there is nothing I can do about it now!” Zoe said
“Time will prove me right. Now tell me about this Alice stuff?” Akihiko said
“Alice? Oh you mean Alice in wonderland! It is my favourite book, that is all. Dave and I are both fans of it.
That is a child’s book!” Akihiko scoffed
“Sort of, but it has so many layers and jokes! Like why is a raven like a writing desk?” Zoe has said
“What? I don’t know!” Akihiko said confused
“Because you don’t approach either without Caws! Get it? CAWS! The sound a Raven makes! It is a play on words. There is lots of answers but that one makes me laugh the most. Zoe said laughing.
Akihiko chuckled and said “when do you start work?”
“Six” Zoe said putting her arms round his neck. Akihiko said smiled and lifted on to his shoulder.
“Good, we have plenty of time and you are definitely not answering the door again!” Akihiko said carrying a giggling Zoe to her bedroom to have some more fun

Zoe Somehow managed to get herself out of bed, showered and even eat something before been driven to work by Akihiko.
“How about staying at my place tonight?” Akihiko asked with a smile. The truth was Dave’s actions and words had disturbed him. He wanted his little Dragon on his territory, safe.
“Sure!” Zoe said with a smile.
“I will pick you up at closing time” Akihiko said and Zoe nodded and got out of the car slowly.
It had been a hard shift, but with coffee and paracetamol she managed it. She said goodbye to the last customer and started to put chairs on the tables. She heard the bell ring, indicating that someone had come in.
“I am really sorry, but we are closed now” Zoe said as she turned. Four men in army camouflage trousers and vest tops came in. One of the men locked the door and the another pulled down the blinds.
“It is OK sweetheart, we don’t want the food or drink” One man said with a toothy grin.
“Then what do you want?” Zoe said slowly grabbing the mop.
“We have been looking for this guy, have you seen him?” The toothy man said holding a photo up.
“No” Zoe said quickly lied. It was a photo of Akihiko!
“Now that is a shame, I really hoped you would not lie to me Sweetheart! Last chance, do you know where he is?” The man asked again
“No, I don’t! So get out now before I call the police!” Zoe said.
“Your choice! Boys, remind the little Princesse here about how bad lying is” The man said with a cruel smile.
The three men came to attack her, but Zoe was ready for them. She used the mop handle as a staff and managed to hit one in the groin, she manuvered sidewards to miss a punch from the second man and high kicked the third. She rushed to the door, but the leader grabbed her hair and pulled her back.
“I do love a women who can fight. Makes my job so much more fun!” The leader said as he threw her to the floor.
“Go f**k yourself with a chainsaw!” Zoe shouted before curling into a ball. Closing her eyes she prepared herself for the onslaught of kick and punches she knew she was coming. One thing was for certain, she was never going to give Akihiko up.
“Because you love him already, you f*****g i***t!” She thought as she lost consciousness.
“How disappointing, she passed out already!” one of the men said looking at the bloody mess on the floor.
“Maybe she didn’t know anything after all” another Man grumped.
“It is time to leave, that Son of a b***h Dave has been on our tail since we landed!” The leader said and the men laughed as they walked out.
10 minutes later a car parked up and Dave rushed in.
“Oh God Zoe!” Dave said as he rushed over to her. He picked her up and threw her in the back seat, taking her to the hospital would be much faster then waiting for an ambulance. He locked the door quickly and got in the drivers seat.
“Don’t worry Zo, Dave’s got you!” Dave said as he sped off to the Island’s hospital.
Five minutes later Akihiko came to find a Diner that was all locked up, but with no Zoe in sight. Akihiko growled, thinking Zoe had finished early and started to walk home in the dark. He furiously got into his car and set up for Zoe’s house. He was going to tell her exactly what he thought about her walking home in the dark. But when he got to her house, it was all dark and the door was ripped off. He panicked and went inside, the place was completely trashed! All accept one door was still on it’s hinges, even the lightbulbs were smashed!
“Zoe? Zoe?” He called as he quickly checked each room. She was not there!
Maybe she is at the Bar? Akihiko thought as he ran down the path. He came to the bar and looked around.
“Can I help you mate?” The Barkeeper said
“Yes, I looking for Zoe or David” Akihiko said
“Zoe or Dave?” the Barkeeper said his eyes narrowing
“Yes” Akihiko confirmed, trying to remain calm.
“You obviously haven’t heard” the Barkeeper said
“No, what?” Akihiko said
“Zoe has been attacked, Dave taken her to the hospital. Pretty bad from what I here” The Barkeeper said
Akihiko felt like his heart stopped and that he had been kicked in the stomach. He ran out to his car and drove off at speed.

Zoe woke up with a splitting headache, it felt like every inch of her body hurt.
“f**k!” Zoe moaned
“Zoe? Zoe? Are you OK? It is Dave” Dave said
“It hurts” Zoe moaned
“Where?” Dave said his voice full of concern.
“Just about everywhere!” Zoe said trying to get up.
“Oh, no, no Princess. You need to stay down, you been beat up pretty bad!” Dave said his voice full of concern.
“Thanks Dave” Zoe said feeling tired.
Just then they both heard a man shout : “where is she? Where is Zoe Lewis?”
“Oh it is him!” Dave growled
“I like him” Zoe said
“No offence but your taste in men is s**t, and you should definitely stay away from Akihiko” Dave said seriously.
“What do you know?” Zoe said her eyes narrowing. Even on morphine, she could tell Dave was holding something back.
“Nothing, just say goodbye to him. It is for the best Zoe, trust me!” Dave said
“I really think that is up to her, don’t you?” Ena said drawing back the curtain.
“Ena! It is great to see you! Please tell me you cooked some wiggley cake?” Zoe said in Japanese obviously confused about things. The cake was a very light sponge that was popular in Japan.
“You can have as much as you like!” Ena said and Dave frowned.
“I want her in a private room and I want to see the Doctors now!” The voice down the corridor continued to shout.
“Who is that shouting?” Zoe asked
“Hello Zoe, good to see you are awake. I bet the pain is bad, poor thing. I top up pain medication for you It is time” A Nurse said coming in, increasing Zoe’s morphine dosage.
“Wow! That stuff is sooo good! I didn’t tell them anything Ena! But tell him he is in danger!” Zoe said in a mixture of Japanese and English.
“Of course darling, but sleep now” Ena said and Zoe shut her eyes.
“You need to back off her” Dave growled
“So it is true, you do know who we are” Ena said carefully.
“Of course I do! But like typical syndicate leaders, other people pay the price for their stupidity” Dave growled.
“What do you mean?” Ena growled back
“Of course I bloody pay! Get her a room now!” Akihiko was still shouting
“Zoe was beaten up because mercenaries were looking for your chairman. She didn’t tell them anything of course. Stupid i***t thinks she is in love” Dave said frowning.
Ena suddenly realised something “You have been sent to protect her! Who is she?”
“Think what you like old man. But you and your chairman need to leave her alone” Dave said
“Well it is a good thing I don’t take orders from you isn’t it?” Akihiko said looking murderous.
