CHAPTER 8At the end of morning interval, Karla stood at the end of the manual arts and science block corridor to watch as pupils and students arrived to head for one of three classrooms in the block. Like the junior school block this was built quite recently when the area school was formed and was airy and warm with double glazed windows and sliding doors to her left and carpet on the floor. Outside it was a freezing day with wind and hail lashing the building, the type of day that turned the snow still around to slush and made even walking outdoors difficult. Inside though, the central heating worked perfectly with warm air pumped in through vents along the base of the walls. Also in this new block, the carpet was warmed by underfloor heating.
