"It's all going to backfire on you" Nick said, shaking his head disapprovingly as he entered the luxurious master bedroom.

Valerian growled and pushed off the naked girl who was on top of him only a few moments ago. She glared at Valerian for being so rude but one glower from him made her flinch visibly and scramble for her clothes that were sprawled on the floor.

"Haven't you heard it's unreasonably impolite to enter a room without knocking?" Valerian snarled,apparently pissed that Nick had just c**k blocked him.

Nick chuckled good naturedly and stepped aside for the girl to exit the room. Instead,She delayed her exit and sent Nick a flirtatious wink.

In no time, Nick had her neck against the wall and growled darkly.

"Might I remind you that I'm your Alpha king and I gave a queen that makes you look like just a filthy rag?" Nick thundered as the girl flinched and whimpered.

"Get out" Nick and Valerian chorused in their Alpha command making her run away as fast as her legs could carry her with her tail in between her legs.

"She reminds me of Amber" Valerian said thoughtfully as he recalled a certain pack slut at Nick's territory.

Nick c****d an eyebrow at him in disapproval.

"So now you suddenly care about my pack slut?"

"Not in the least. I was just asking because she used to be your play thing before you met Nomi or Skylar or whatever name she goes by" he replied as he rose up from his bed butt naked.

Nick looked away with a constipated look on his face.

"I do not want to see your baby maker Val" he said in disgust.

Valerian snickered as he put on a clean pair of boxers.

"I didn't ask you to badge into my room you prick and I thought you loved to compare sizes with me back then" he replied as he told Nick it was safe to look.

"Oh God,do not remind me of my wild days and how childish I used to be. I'm a father now"

Valerian snorted in an impolite manner and kept quiet.

"Oh and to answer your question Amber is dead"

For most people,they would have gasped or cringed but Valerian simply shrugged and continued dressing.

"It was your mate right?" he said,walking towards a couch now fully clad in a sweatshirt and loosely fit jeans.

When Nick didn't answer he continued.

"Always had such a temper. Sometimes I wonder who is more possessive but considering you also killed Giovanni for her then I guess you guys are even"

"Long time bestie, I really do miss your British accent and snarky comments" Nick spat acidly, with a sly grin plastered on his face after an awkward pause.

"That endearment sounds like poison. Besides you cheated on me with Kyle" Valerian replied slyly.

Nick sighed and ran a hand through his hair

"Can you stop saying it like that? You make it sound like we are a thing"

"We are a thing you chicken d**k!"

'May I finally know why you decided to grace my territory with your presence?"

Nick shrugged and looked at him earnestly.

"I missed you"

Valerian looked at him as though he had grown two horns before throwing  his head back and laughing bitterly.

"You know Val,that sounded forced. If you didn't want to laugh then you shouldn't have"Nick said slowly,as though calculating his words.

"I haven't laughed in a long time Nick. Allow me to have my moment of joy"

"That doesn't sound like joy to me" Nick retorted.

"What exactly did you want me to say, dearest best friend of mine?" Valerian scowled.

Nick did not reply and so he kept talking.

"It's been five years since you ended all your problems with that blasted vampire lord. Did you give me a call? No. The best you could do was keep screwing you poor wife and creating babies. f**k Nick, you're already a family guy. Meanwhile,your best friend was sitting in the heart of Norway and sulking over his dead mate who happens to be your own sister. Do you even do memorials and honour her death? She didn't even have to die! It was over your mate she had to die you stupid f**k. You just don't f*****g care! How could you just-"

In a flash, Nick had Valerian's neck against a wall,his eyes pitch dark and his canines on full display.

"You don't get to give me crap when you do not know s**t about s**t" he growled.

Valerian growled and pushed him back.

"If I didn't know crap about s**t or whatever you just said right now I would have not said anything-"

Valerian fell silent as he beheld the sight in front of him.

Nick was clutching his chest and laughing.

"What in the world is funny you stupid prick!"

But Nick kept laughing anyway and Valerian couldn't control his wolf or his anger anymore.

His fist connected with Nick's jaw but Nick kept laughing anyway.

"Crap about s**t?" he wheezed out.

"You're f*****g losing it" Valerian bellowed in exasperation as he ran a hand through his head.

"When you are done with this stupid fit of yours you will leave my territory" Valerian said icily,calming his wolf.

"I'm sorry Val,but that was freaking funny." Nick said, sobering up.

"You've always been the happy one Val- well happy/moody. You're a freaking storm cloud. You're always fixing everyone's problems. All I'm asking for right now is to fix yourself,who knows I might be needing your help very soon. I hate seeing you like this. Why did you think I stopped talking to you? Your bad vibes were rubbing on me and I had so many things to do. But now I do realize I've been a crappy friend and now I want you to get better. You need to start being selfish or one day you're just going to blow up with all the weight you keep carrying on your head. But right now I suggest you stop screwing everything with boobs and a v****a"

Valerian c****d a brow up at Nick.

"You've always been worse than me in that department Nick. Just because you have a mate to be faithful to doesn't mean I also have to start being celibate. Or are we trying to honour Diana's memory here?" Valerian said hotly.

Nick ignored him and continued his speech.

"Everything about you reeks unhappiness. You've got to move on for Selene's sake. We can't keep sulking over Diana when we know she's in a better place"

"How the heck am I supposed to move on when I'm not moving into something else?"  Valerian said.

"You have a mate" Nick said after a heartbeat.

"That died,yea I know" he shrugged and slumped on the sofa.

Nick shook his head and looked at him earnestly.

"Another mate, Val. Not Diana"

Valerian stood up immediately and narrowed his eyes into slits.

"You better not be joking about this Nick"

"I'm not joking about this Val. This is the reason why I came here. Azaria told me"

Valerian blinked,trying hard to believe his ears.

"The seer?" 

"Yes"

Valerian ran a hand through his hair for the umpteenth time as he tried to process what his ears were telling him.

"But that's not possible. S-she died. I saw her body" he stuttered.

"that's why I said another one" Nick snapped,losing his patience.

"The goddess has been trying to reach to you,but you just wouldn't pay attention to her. She's near, I can promise you and would be enrolling into one of these universities?"

"What one?" Valerian said eagerly but Nick shook his head.

"The seer would not say it. She said it's your punishment for not hearkening to her"

Nick looked at his wrist watch and rose to his feet.

"I'm afraid I'm running out of time. Be a good boy and stop whoring around. No mate would appreciate that. I know Sky doesn't say it,but it hurts when she thinks of what I used to be. Are you going to back to school?" Nick asked carefully.

"You bet I will" Valerian said with a hint of a smile on his face.

"Good. I did the same for Sky. Now please take care of yourself for me Val. I care about you so much" and with that,Nick left Valerian's room. 

Valerian was in his own personal bubble and did not see when he left and when he did notice, it was too late. Turning back and sighing as he sunk to his bed, Valerian hoped he would go to the right school and wished the goddess would help him.

And for the first time in a long time, his wolf stirred within him and had a triumphant look in his eyes.

"Another mate?"

I slept so late yesterday,because the dishes were so many and I was chatting with my boyfriend Alvin and my best friend Othniel. They were so alike and I cared about them so much.

"Goddamnit Apryl. Wake the f**k up this instant or I would pour hot water on you" a voice screeched and I tried to reach up to cover my ears,and sadly failed. 

I wasn't a morning person and this person was really annoying me. 

However,I groaned and peeled off my comforter from my body, removed a few corn braids from my face and rolled out of my bed.

I squinted at the person who woke me up before my eyes adjusted to the bright morning light. It was my oldest sister Cleo who wasn't present for my send off dinner because she was at law school.

My eyes widened at seeing her,because I could have only guessed what time she would have woken up,done all her lady things before travelling back here.

"You woke up late you dumb t**s!"

Oh God,I almost forgot how vulgar she was.

"It's already 8am and the Kristiáns are already here"

"Pipe it down would ya,I slept by 4am" I said yawning and stretching.

"Jesus,you aren't even smart at all" Emma said, entering my room with a click of her tongue,

Pause.

WHAT?

"Did you say the Kristiáns are already here?" I said,fully awake now and struggling to strip off my PJ's.

"No Apryl, the Muslims are here" Cleo bit sarcastically.

I am officially dead.

The only reason why I could practically pee on myself right now was because I was supposed to be awake a long time. After hearing I was coming to Norway to study, the Kristiáns were so happy they said they were going to come over and pick me up by themselves.

And with my ungrateful attitude towards them, I knew I was definitely going to be IT.

"Hurry up!'' I heard one of them say as I ran into the bath tub and did not even wait for the water to get hot.

This was going to be bad.
