Asper Reign’s POV
Well, who would have thought that the history of our country has been altered and the existence of our clan’s ruling for this country has been erased by the Azaria.
Well, Dad told us everything but not in a detailed way. They just told us some key important things as to why Azaria has been so wary of our family.
Apparently, this land was once known as the Axian Kingdom and it belongs to the Empire of Reveni. The Axia Clan, which is the real family name where our father came from, was the one leading this kingdom.
To end the worthless bloodshed, our grandfather decided to give up his throne. He gave the crown to Miracle’s grandfather, abandoned his family name, and bore his wife’s family name, which is Dahlia.
With the help of our grandmother, Astrea Dahlia, they managed to keep all of the rice fields and company that the Axia Clan owned.
The Azaria forbid everyone from mentioning the Axia Clan, burn every physical evidence that this country was once led by someone else, and change its history.
They live in solitude but they did their job well.
The public only knows the first name of their king and the people working for him. They don’t even know which clan he came from. Despite not seeing anyone from the royal family of the Axian Government, the people of this land love them so much.
They practically worship them and praise them for taking care of everyone in this country. Everyone believed that they served the country well.
Dad said that they don’t really want the throne. Every king in their clan was just forced to accept their fate to lead the country because they cared for the people of this land. That is why it is easy for them to relinquish their title as part of the royal family.
Which is clearly not the case. They just want power and they don’t really care about the people in this land.
Well, at least the previous king neglected a lot of aspects when it came to taking care of the country. And the current king who was just like a puppet of their elders.
I sighed as I closed the notebook where I wrote everything that Dad said.
“Still shocked?” Jyn asked me as he leaned his head on my shoulder.
I nodded. “Well, who would have thought that we are related to the royal family of the Reveni Empire.”
I know that Dad has other siblings. Aside from Tita Lexi and Tito Rener who reside here in Hexoria, they also have one sister who lives out of the country.
Dad said that she was already dead, five years ago, but she was once the empress of the Reveni Empire. Yes, she is the mother of the current emperor of that small yet strong empire.
And that makes us first cousins of the Henan royal family.
“Princess Asper…”
“Caspian Jyn.”
“I was just thinking if you were the princess of this country,” he said and looked at me. “You were the one who inherited the Axia Clan’s sense of duty for the people of this land without waiting for anything in return. Sigurado akong higit pa sa mga nagawa mo noon ang magagawa mo sana kung hindi nawala sa pamilya niyo ang pamumuno sa bansang ito.”
“Then, we might not meet if that is the case,” I said. “I might be bound to my duty as the princess of this country and decide to agree with an arranged marriage. And you know the version of me before I changed, right? I always think of what is best for the people that I serve.”
And that makes me think that maybe, what my grandfather did back then gave us the freedom that they didn’t have before because they are bound by their duty.
This is why Dad said that none of the kings who once led this land ever really wanted to become a king. They don’t even give a damn if people remember them because for them… for us, it is our duty to serve the best interest of the people in this land.
“Dad is right,” I said. “It will not do any good to us if I use this information to my advantage. Guguluhin lang nito ang bansa at iyon ang huling bagay na gugustuhin kong mangyari. But…”
He lifted his head and looked at me. “But?”
“Dad only said not to take advantage of the truth that our clan was once leading this country,” I smirked. “He never said not to take advantage of our true relationship with the emperor of the Reveni Empire.”
“Asper…”
I looked at him innocently. “Yes?”
He stared at me for a while and sighed. “Henan was once known for their cruelty and they only value the people that hold their family name,” he said. “In fact, three of the princes belonging to the Henan Clan have unique nicknames based on what they do in their country.”
“You know them?”
He nodded. “I once tried to bring my legal business there but I don’t get along with the prince that handles the food industry of their country.”
“Who are they?” I asked.
“One of your cousins was one of them, Akia Vran Henan,” he answered. “He is the third prince of the Reveni Empire. He is also the minister of the food industry that handles everything that relates to their food source and he was named the heir to the throne since the current emperor doesn’t have any child yet. He was known as the Cruel Prince as he tortured all the people that defied him in public.”
“Oh.” I nodded. “I have a big shot cousin and he is also into the field that our family has here.”
“Your cousin’s cousin, Adriel Revin was known as the Heartless Prince,” he added. “Aside from being the minister of defense of their country, he is also the public executioner of heinous crimes there and he never shows emotion whenever he does his job, as if he never felt anything while taking the lives of those people.”
“And the third one?”
“Hain Canalla, minister of the art industry and the owner of the famous HHC Network in the Reveni Empire,” he said. “Also known as the Rogue Prince. He never includes himself when it comes to politics. He does what he wants even if he hurts someone in the process and is rude to even the royal family. There were times that even their family on his father's side were ashamed to be with him because he never followed their royal protocol in some of their official meetings but he does his job well.”
“As long as he does his job, his attitude doesn’t really matter,” I said. “But what does that have to do with what I am about to do?”
He sighed. “Before you have the chance to face the emperor of that land, you will have to face those three first, as they were treated as one of the pillars of the empire. And they are equally dangerous like a mafia boss, so I don’t think it is good for you to use your relationship with Henan.”
“Oh, don’t worry about that,” I smiled. “I already met Hain Canalla and he doesn’t really seem like what they describe him.”
Kumunot ang noo niya. “What do you mean? When did you meet him?”
“Well, he is ‘The Rogue’ that everyone knew who was good at gathering even the most hidden information that surpasses Miracle’s ability.”
