All told, there were twenty-five people and two infants crammed around a table that seated twenty and was laden with enough food to feed twice that many. The food had been beyond delicious, and I’d even managed a second helping of the lasagna and some extra stuffing. Judging by the looks Angela kept shooting my way, she wasn’t exactly satisfied with how much I ate. But my appetite wasn’t what it usually was and I was incapable of eating any more. When I insisted I was full, she backed off. But she wasn’t happy about it. While Nick—the Mastriano child between Joe and Noah—and several of the aunts cleared the table, everyone else continued to sit and pick at the remaining food, talking and laughing.
