"Why is your face so angry, Peter?" Lizzy asked in a weak voice.
After being poisoned by salad dressing containing peanuts at my house due to Leora's actions, Lizzy had to be hospitalized.
The doctor who treated her said that Lizzy was lucky enough to be saved. Allergies like Lizzy's can have fatal consequences if not treated immediately.
Moreover, currently Lizzy is also pregnant and her pregnancy is still relatively young, if treated too late, she might miscarry.
"Leora has signed our divorce papers," I said wearily.
I feel uninspired. It's like something is missing from inside me. I felt it from the moment Leora left the restaurant.
Lizzy's beautifully drawn eyebrows rose. She reached out her hand and grasped it tightly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Peter," said Lizzy in a voice shaking from crying. "I'm sorry that I was the cause of your divorce."
I turned my head and looked at the woman I had loved for a long time. Her beautiful face was covered in tears and she looked very sad.
I reached out and hugged her gently. "Hey, don't cry, darling. The problems between Leora and I have been hidden for a long time and maybe this divorce is the best way for us."
But that's a lie. I felt like I had lost the woman who had filled my life for almost four years.
We met by chance at a charity event and Leora's beauty and gentle demeanor immediately made me fall in love with her.
I still can't forget Lizzy since she was gone, but when I was with Leora, I felt happy and didn't remember Lizzy at all.
I proposed to her for marriage after eight months of dating, even though my mother did not approve of my marriage to Leora.
According to my mother, a woman who grew up in an orphanage, had unknown origins, and was poor, would only bring bad luck to our family.
However, I completely ignored my mother's objections and still married Leora.
Our marriage is happy and I feel that since being with Leora everything I do has become easy. She is very diligent and carries out her role as a wife perfectly.
My career at the company began to climb slowly but surely, until finally I was appointed deputy director of marketing because of my brilliant achievements and some gossip circulating in the office said that my position would soon be promoted again to the director's chair.
However, Leora is not yet pregnant. I want a child and so does my mother want a grandchild. It was my only source of debate with Leora whenever we argued. I suspect she is sterile, because my own family has been proven to be fertile.
After buying a bigger house, I invited my mother and sister to live together so they could accompany Leora while I worked.
However, Leora's gentle nature started to turn annoying since the presence of my mother and sister. She treated them arbitrarily, often got into fights with them, and was impolite. I don't know how many times my mother complained while crying because of Leora's rude and careless attitude.
Leora changed and at that time, Lizzy returned from Canada. Her arrival made me realize that I still always loved her, as did Lizzy to me. We only separated due to circumstances.
She divorced her husband after only eight months of marriage and decided to pursue a career as a model. Lizzy's beauty, beautiful body and outgoing attitude made her easily accepted in various work environments and soon her name as a model skyrocketed in the fashion world. I'm proud of her.
We fell in love again and I started spending more time with Lizzy. It was like a honeymoon for us and my excitement was beyond compare when Lizzy said she was pregnant.
I had intended to tell Leora about Lizzy's pregnancy and intended to divorce her, even though Lizzy insisted that I didn't need to marry her. She was very happy to be with me again, and didn't care if she could only be my mistress because I was still married to Leora.
Lizzy's attitude, which was full of love and trust towards me, was in contrast to Leora's, who became increasingly annoying.
I've discussed with my team of lawyers about divorcing Leora, just waiting for the right time and reason. I have also prepared quite a large divorce allowance for Leora. After all, she and I had a beautiful marriage, so there was no way I would let her suffer after divorcing me.
I never thought that this opportunity would come so quickly, even though Lizzy had to be the victim.
One thing that surprised me was when Leora asked for a divorce. I should be the one saying that, not her. My self-esteem was a little pinched because of the challenge. Even when I threatened not to give her anything, she didn't care and stubbornly left my house.
"Peter, don't be sad," Lizzy said softly. "I will make your life better, together with our child."
I looked at Lizzy's still flat stomach and my feelings gradually improved. I squeezed Lizzy's hand gently.
"After all my work matters at the branch office in North Riviera are finished, let's get married," I said happily. "I can't wait to cradle my flesh and blood with my hands."
Lizzy hugged me tightly. I feel like the luckiest man now, despite my recent divorce.
Lizzy was allowed to go home from the hospital after one weeks of treatment. The doctor advised her to take bed rest to fully recover, because her womb was quite weak.
I brought Lizzy to live at my house. My mother and sister swiftly prepared a new bed in my room.
"I don't want to make Lizzy feel uncomfortable, sleeping in the same bed your ex-wife slept in," my mother said gently.
I hugged her, feeling lucky that my mother was so caring.
"I'm sorry for not listening to your warning not to marry Leora, Mom," I said, kissing her forehead. "Now it is proven that she is not a good woman."
Mother hugged me and patted my back gently. "I'm glad you've separated from her, son. I can't stand being under pressure from her, and neither does your sister. She really hates us and always tries to throw us out of your house."
Feelings of guilt towards my mother and sister made me hate Leora even more. Luckily it's all over now.
Suddenly there was a loud sound of applause. My mother and I turned together.
Leora stood in the doorway with a very different appearance. Her hand was linked to the arm of a very handsome, tall, and masculine man.
"Well, hello, my ex-husband and ex-in-laws," said Leora with a sweet smile on her lips. "I'm sorry if I disturbed this emotional atmosphere, but I came because there are some of my belongings that are still left in this house. I will take them now."
My mother and I exchanged glances. We were both stunned.
Then, Lizzy's voice awakened my astonishment.
"Mr. Jayden? Why are you here?"
