“Happy Birthday, Luna,” David says to me, gently holding my hand as we walk together back to the packhouse after dinner. “I didn’t think that anyone remembered,” I tell him with a smile. Truly, I thought it had been forgotten. “How could I ever forget such a special day for such a special girl?” “I just don’t really have anyone. My parents always made a big deal about it, but that’s it.” “Audrey forgot?” he asks and looks completely surprised. I look at him with a lopsided grin. “Yes, but it’s fine. Her wolf finally came to her a few weeks ago. She’s been preparing for her shift.” “Ahh, I see. So we can expect her to shift at the next moon?” “Most likely,” I say with a smile. “I didn’t say anything earlier because I didn’t know if you wanted to make a big deal about it.
