Chap # 4 “Was that your Aunt, Mrs. Rivera?”

2224 Words
Nathan Rivera's POV "Where is Janet?" I asked Lydia who was fixing the table, she jolted at my voice but I took no notice of that. "She went to buy grocery." She told me as I raised my eyebrow at her and made my way to get my coat. She is in so much trouble after scaring the s**t out of me. I went out of the house and walked down the streets towards the small shop in long strides. I entered the shop and quickly spotted her paying the cashier with the bodyguard standing right behind her. This woman was nowhere in sight when I woke up and it gave me chills to know she had gone out without me knowing. What if her aunt had got to her? I was so very glad to see her bodyguard otherwise he was out of the job. "Woman!" Janet squealed and turned to me as I glared at her. While the cashier looked at us with a weird face. "You are awake, I was just buying some groceries." She smiled at me unaware of me glaring at her. "I can very well see that." She nudged me on my stomach and walked past me, out of the shop while carrying the groceries in her tiny hands. I took the groceries out of her hands and into mine as we walked side to side towards the house. When we walked inside the house, I gave the groceries to the bodyguard and got a hold of my wife, slinging her over my shoulder like a bag of potatoes. "NATHAN!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??" I slapped across her butt, strode straight to our bedroom and threw her on the bed. She was such a lightweight. "Next time tell me wherever you are going. Even if I am outside, in the hospital you will tell me where you are going. Out with Valeria or Bella, or you go out with Lydia, or to get groceries. You will wake me up and then go out. Okay?" I pointed it out as I stood in front of her while she was holding her face while trying to control her laughter with her hair all over her face. I tried to muster up my angry face but I couldn't hold myself and chuckled with her. I towered over her and hugged little body as she interviewed her fingers in my hair massaging her scalp, cuddling in the bed. "I got scared. Never do that again, I am worried about you." I told her as she sighed. "Nathan, I am right here. I promise to always tell you where I am going. Okay?" She hugged me tighter as I nodded my head. ********* "Get the equipment, I will get to the room." I said as I got up from the chair and went out of the office. "Sir, the patient is ready." I nodded my head and went straight in the operation room with my mask and gloves on. "The bone has been fractured really bad with glass piercing his leg, if we can put it back in place with some cement covering then the bone will adjust back to its place." The doctor standing beside me spoke as I hummed and started with the work. Placing the leg bone in its right position, I took out the pieces of glass that has pierced his leg. It took quite some time in the room with the patients and it was really late but I was happy to go home to my lovely wife. Today, I have a big surprise for her, something she would truly love. We couldn't have our wedding; I would want too but with the situation of her aunt. It would be better not too but the thing I have in mind would get her aunt truly out of her head. When I walked in the house, the aroma of delicious food hit me. I can tell by the smell that she cooked today and not Lydia. The bodyguard was standing by the door of the living room watching Janet as she watched T.V. I was really glad that she didn't complain about him otherwise it would be a hard job for me to convince her. I signaled the bodyguard to leave the room as he did and left. I walked up to my beautiful wife and sat right beside her giving her a kiss on her cheek as she blushed and turned to face me. She shook her head and roamed her arms around my neck, hugging me as I pulled her closer by her waist. "Missed me?" She nodded her head as I kissed her hair. We stayed like that for quite a moment before I pulled back and gazed at her beautiful brown orbs. I hope she loves the idea; I am going to show her. I took the envelope out of my pocket and passed in to her. She curiously took it and looked at me and then the letter, questioning me with her eyes. "Just read it." I told her as she shrugged and ripped open the letter and took the sheet of paper out and read the words steadily. "Tickets? Maldives? I don't understand." She lightly chuckled as I spoke. "We are going to Maldives for the next 2 weeks for the honeymoon we missed." Her widened eyes stared at me as she was at loss of words. Only a moment later she hugged me as she kept kissing my cheek over and over again. I remember her telling me that Maldives sound really beautiful when she read it in one of the books. "Thank you so much! I love you." Those words made me the luckiest guy in the world. "When we going to leave?" She asked while jumping up and down the couch. "We are leaving day after tomorrow. So here is my card, go out and shop with Valeria or Bella. Get yourself some clothes for the trip." I handed her the card and kissed her cheek as she blushed. My innocent princess. Our heads turned towards the kitchen when we heard a glass crashing. We both got up and ran to the kitchen to find Janet's bodyguard, Connor with Lydia who was standing in the corner where the glass was broken near her foot. "Don't move." I told her as she stood completely still. "I am so sorry the glass just slippe-" "It’s okay, Lydia." Janet cut her off as she assured her while Lydia wore an apologetic look. I went over and helped her get out the pool of broken glass as Conner helped me by grabbing Lydia's waist and pulling her towards him. She thanked us as Conner made her sit on the sofa while I checked her foot for any serious injuries. "You are all good." I told her as she kept thanking me and Janet. "I have a feeling Conner likes Lydia." Janet whispered with a little excitement in her voice. "Conner doesn't even talk." I told her as she hummed. "Yeah true." ************** Janet Rivera's POV "Wow Maldives. I have travelled a lot with Derek and trust me that place is a great pick." She said, excited as we drank our coffee. She helped me a lot with what to buy and what not to buy. We had bought bunch of swimsuits, sundresses, makeup and I even bought a lingerie this time since I would want to impress Nathan. I just wish I have the courage to do it. "Darrell has gotten really big since I saw him." I bopped the little boy’s nose and he giggled. He was the cutest thing ever. "Yeah, and teasing mama a lot!" She said with a huge smile as she rolled her eyes while adoring her child. "I really wish I have one." I told her as she winked at me. I know what she meant, she wants me to not be a virgin when I get back and even, I want the same. Just want things to go with the flow. "And Janet, you didn't tell me the reason why you have that guy walking around following us?" I gulped. I shouldn't tell her, yes, she is a good friend but I shouldn't trouble her. "Nathan has been really worried about me, so he just had a bodyguard for my protection. That's it no big deal." I quickly changed the topic as she shrugged it off. We talked a lot while still in the cafe and then I noted. Her again! I turned to face Connor and I saw him staring at her and then his eyes met mine, he noticed the way my eyes shifted to him and back to my aunt. He realized it all too quick and ran after her but my aunt noted it as well and ran for her life. I got up on my feet as Valeria stood up too, worried. "What's wrong? Why did that guy run off?" I turned to face Valeria and then her child. I can't do this! "I think I saw Nathan. I need to go." I said quickly with a smile as she stared at me. I grabbed the shopping bags in my hands as she watched me. "But the gu-" I cut her off and ran past her. "Bye." I turned and waved at her as she waved back but with a confused expression. I went out of the mall and there I saw Conner, with his phone on his ears, his body stiff. I went over to him and heard the conversation. "No, she ran off in a van!" He spoke. My aunt ran off? "Yes sir." Conner saw me and gestured me to walk with me. I, without speaking walked across the road and he kept talking to Nathan on the phone. "The van plate was hidden by a cloth, couldn't see it." He spoke. After a while, he cut the call and turned to face me. "Was that your aunt, Mrs. Rivera?" He asked as I opened my mouth to speak but didn't say anything and nodded. "Mr. Nathan will be here any moment now." And just a few minutes later. Nathan's car parked in front of us and we both sat in our seats. Nathan kissed my forehead once he saw me but didn't speak. Once we got home, Nathan led me to our room. He ran his fingers through his hair and was pacing back and forth the room while I sat on the bed watching him. "That was what I was worried about. You want to know more?" His voice was laced with anger and frustration as he didn't face me. "I saw the letter!" My eyes widened as his blue met mine. My heart started racing as I recalled the letter. When I read the letter, there weren't many words but whatever was written it scared me to the core. My hands shook as I read the words again and again. I am watching you! I crumbled the paper and threw it in the dustbin. Not wanting Nathan to know anything. She can't do anything. "But I threw it in the trash." I exclaimed as he rolled his eyes. "Yeah, the trash that has never been taking out since it’s in the closet. I found the letter today as it was still there." I lowered my eyes as I sighed. "I found a camera hidden in the living room. She was watching us." I couldn't believe my ears, did she really had a camera set up. "She was here, wasn't she? That's the only way she set that camera up." I remember the first time she came when she threatened me. I closed my eyes and nodded. I felt him sit beside me as he took my shaky hands in his rough ones. "All those things, you should have told me. I mean it, no matter what it is, you tell me. It’s for your own good." He said as he grabbed my chin and made me face him. He pecked my lips and placed his forehead on top of mine. "I am sorry. I know I should have told you but at that moment I was sca- scared of her hurting you. Sh- she is not alone. She threatened me that she would kill you. I do- don’t want to lose you." I started sobbing as he pulled me into his body and started whispering soothing words making me relax a bit. Nathan Rivera's POV She finally opened up and was safe and sound in my arms, and that’s the only thing that mattered the most. When I found the letter, I was s**t mad but then the puzzle solved when she told me the reason why she kept quiet about her aunt. It was understandable but that doesn't mean she would hide anything from me from now on. No matter the circumstances. "It’s okay, my love." I reassured her as she finally stopped crying. I laid her down on the bed as she soon enough fell asleep. She must be tired of all this s**t and so was I. I am going to end this, once and for all. **********
