"I know. If you did, you would have definitely told me." Vedh Balon nodded slowly, holding back further words. "I knew you didn't gift that table solely for my mother's sake," she suddenly spoke, and he smiled, nodding slowly. "I knew you wouldn't believe us." They locked eyes, sharing a warm gaze. They hadn't seen each other for a long time, but the bond of their friendship remained as strong and pure as ever. While Ashu Davies was Geet Balon's true friend, she had shared her deepest feelings with Vedh Balon even before Geet Balon, a fact known to everyone connected to them. "I missed you every time I cried over the past years, but I couldn't tell you," she spoke in a low, trembling voice, lowering her head to hide her tears from him. Vedh Balon bit his lip and looked at her intently. He was certain she was feeling sad, and now it had become evident. "I can't even begin to describe how damn lonely I've been these past few years since you and Geet took off. Not a single night went by when I didn't miss you. I wanted you to be there for me, to give me a pep talk, to have my back just like you always did in the past." She wiped away her tears and took a deep breath. Vedh Balon lowered his gaze and stared at his hand, itching to reach out and comfort her. "Seeing you that night after all those years... you have no idea how relieved I felt in that moment." Vedh Balon recalled that dark and rainy night when she hugged him tightly, crying her heart out. He knew exactly why she was so devastated then. Yeah, she missed him like crazy. She wanted him by her side, and he wasn't there. Ashu Davies wiped her tears and looked at the guy who was studying her intensely. He was always so cool and collected, and she kinda dug his icy demeanor. Vedh Balon slowly raised his hand and placed it on her head. She smiled warmly, feeling safe and protected under his touch. He wanted to reach out and wipe her tear-streaked cheeks, but it felt weird to do that as just friends. "Don't worry. I'm here for you, and there won't be any more shitty days in your life. From now on, you'll only have reasons to smile, and I promise I'll look after your happiness until my dying breath." His words were filled with determination as his hand rested on her head. Ashu Davies could sense the sincerity and purity in his promise, and she smiled, filled with newfound strength. Vedh Balon slowly withdrew his hand and gave her a small smile. "I'm sorry." His heart ached for leaving her alone all this time. Ashu Davies shook her head, sporting a sad smile. "You left town to study. That's a big deal. No need to apologize." "I know you felt alone and miserable during those rough times, and I was powerless to reach out to you." "Now things are finally looking up, and that makes me happy. I'm also damn proud of you." Vedh Balon smiled and nodded slowly. Once again, they fell into silence, gazing straight ahead. "Are you enjoying your job?" "Hmm, I'm in the middle of training, so I'm busting my ass to learn the ropes quickly." "Work is important, but remember, your health comes first. Don't go getting sick just because of your job. If that happens, I'll make you quit and won't let you work ever again. You'll have to rely on me for life." Ashu Davies's jaw dropped in shock, but when she realized he wasn't fazed by her stunned expression, she let out a sigh and nodded slowly. "I'll take care of myself." Vedh Balon smiled and ruffled her hair in a caring manner, then glanced at his wristwatch. "It's getting late. Go get some rest. You've got an early start tomorrow." "Oh, yeah... I'm outta here." "Good night." Ashu Davies scurried off without saying a word in response. Vedh Balon gazed at the terrace door and smiled softly. He was taken aback by her innocence. How easily she poured out her feelings, admitting she missed him. There were tears in her eyes because of him, and he felt like such a fool for not having the guts to ask her to be his girlfriend. The next day… Ashu Davies stood in front of the elevator, engrossed in her phone. The elevator doors opened, and without paying attention, she stepped inside. A captivating fragrance caught her senses, causing her to raise her head and search for its source. As she tapped her floor number on the screen, she realized she was alone in the elevator. "I'm here." A pleasant and deep voice sounded from behind her. Startled, she swiftly turned around, and in her haste, her ankle twisted. Just as she was about to slip, he grabbed her delicate wrist, pulling her towards him. She collided with his firm chest, finding herself trapped against the elevator wall. "Oh..." As she regained her composure, she found herself face-to-face with an incredibly attractive man. His deep breaths gently caressed her small face. His eyes were mesmerizing, a deep shade of blue that seemed to hold the entire world within them. A faint smile adorned his rose-petal-like lips, and as she raised her gaze to meet his intense eyes, her heart skipped a beat. Her chest began to rise and fall rapidly, the pounding of her heart echoing loudly. Laksh Wilson held her wrists against the wall, her soft chest pressed against his muscular frame. "How beautiful your eyes are! They're pulling me in," he spoke, his words carried on his breath, igniting a spark within her, one that seemed to bind her to him. Laksh Wilson smirked ever so slightly as he noticed her trembling lips, realizing how scared and captivated she was in that moment. "Darling, you're killing me," he smiled and winked at her before releasing her, just as the elevator doors opened. He was about to turn and leave when he heard her whimper. "Oh..." In an instant, he held her shoulders, preventing her from stumbling to the ground. Jo Gu stood by the elevator doors, witnessing the scene. "Are you okay?" Laksh asked, concern etched on his face as he looked at her twisted ankle. Her palm rested on his shoulder, her grip on his white shirt inside his coat. "I don't think I can walk. It hurts," she spoke in a trembling voice. He observed her pale face, the pain evident in her features. He glanced at his assistant, who was waiting for his command. "Call the doctor." Without hesitation, he swiftly scooped her up into his strong arms, carrying her effortlessly. Jo Gu was stunned, his raised arm frozen mid-air as he contemplated calling the doctor. His eyes widened as Laksh Wilson exited the elevator and made his way to his office, carrying Ashu Davies in his arms. Jo Gu cleared his throat and followed suit, quickly dialing the doctor's number. As they entered the office, the staff members were taken aback, their eyes and mouths wide open. It was only Ashu's second day at work, yet here she was, being carried by the chairman himself. What kind of magic had she worked on him? Leaving the astonished onlookers behind, Laksh entered his cabin and headed straight to the inner room, still holding Ashu in his arms. She was completely lost in his embrace, gazing at his captivating face without realizing the stares from the staff. Laksh gently placed Ashu on the bed, removing his coat and hanging it on a stand. He rolled up his sleeves and sat at the edge of the bed, focusing on her twisted ankle. As he looked into her shocked eyes, he asked, “Does it hurt?” Ashu opened her mouth to respond, but in that moment, Laksh realized she hadn't even heard his question. She nodded absentmindedly, still entranced by his beauty. Without paying attention to her dazed state, he proceeded to gently touch her ankle, pressing on the twisted portion with his thumb and index finger. "Ouch...!!" Ashu winced in pain, catching Laksh's attention. He stood up from the bed and went to the cupboard, retrieving the first aid box and locating the pain relief spray. Spraying it on the affected area, he caught her staring at him with a mixture of admiration and embarrassment. "Don't keep staring at me like this. I know I'm handsome," he remarked playfully, placing the spray on the table. Ashu blushed and closed her eyes, feeling self-conscious about her gaze. "It's not swollen, so don't worry. It's not fractured," Laksh assured her. Confused, Ashu looked at him, trying to process the information. "I don't need a cast or bandages for several weeks? It's not fractured?" she asked with a tinge of sadness. Seizing the opportunity to tease her, Laksh raised an eyebrow and regarded her with interest. "Do you even know where you are?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips. Suddenly, Ashu realized that she was in a room that resembled a bedroom. "Where am I?" she exclaimed, wide-eyed and fearful. "You're at my place," Laksh proudly stated, observing her twisted ankle before giving her a sly look. Feeling unsafe, Ashu pleaded with him, her voice trembling. "Please let me go." Laksh continued to gaze at her innocent face, but when he noticed her red eyes, he decided against teasing her further.
