In the Wilson villa…
"Do you know how incredibly beautiful she is? There has never been and will never be a woman quite like her, a true gift of nature. She possesses the innocence of a newborn baby, the purity and grace of flowing water, and the courage of a blazing fire," he mused, his voice filled with admiration.
"I am utterly captivated, Mom," Laksh Wilson sighed, sinking into the plush, round bed. He stretched out his arms and closed his eyes, vividly picturing her in his mind.
A gentle breeze swept through the room, causing the bells to chime with a melodic harmony.
The memories were overwhelming, yet his heart burned with an intense longing. He missed her dearly.
The next morning…
Ashu Davies was getting ready for work when she received a message from an unknown number. Confused, she read the message: "Waiting for you at your apartment. Come fast."
Vedh Balon had recently changed his number, and she hadn't received his new one!
Quickly finishing her breakfast, she explained to her mother, "Vedh is waiting for me at the gate. I should go. He has to get to the hospital on time." She hurriedly grabbed her food and rushed out of the building.
As she stepped out of the elevator, she spotted a familiar car.
With narrowed eyes, she approached the vehicle, only to find the driver waiting to open the back seat for her. Inside the car, she saw a handsome young man wearing a beautiful smile.
"Good morning," he greeted her warmly.
"Did you text me?" Ashu asked, puzzled.
"Why shouldn't I? You got injured because of me. I should take care of you. Come on in," he raised his eyebrows, speaking with a touch of elegance.
"I can't. Thank you for everything," Ashu replied, turning to leave.
"Wow, she's got some courage," he murmured, stepping out of the car. He couldn't just let her go. Determined, he approached her and without hesitation, he scooped her up and placed her in the back seat.
"What do you think you're doing?" Ashu snapped, clearly annoyed. But he wasn't going to leave her behind. He ordered the driver to start driving.
"How dare you?" Ashu glared at him
"Do you want me to demonstrate just how daring I can be?" he replied, his words tinged with mischief. His eyes were intense, drawing her in. She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, and turned her gaze out of the window.
Laksh Wilson smirked, his eyes never tiring of watching her. Inwardly, he thought, "She needs me to carry her again."
He leaned back in his seat, running his tongue over his lips. The scent of his cologne filled the car, blending with her every breath. Gradually, her anger subsided, and she calmed down, yet she couldn't muster the courage to look at him.
The elegant car pulled up in front of the Wilson Group headquarters. Ashu Davies turned her head to look at the handsome young man who was checking his tablet for appointments.
"Go attend your training. I have something to do," he said, unaware of how much those words satisfied her. She quickly got out of the car and rushed into the building.
…
Vedh knocked on the door.
Hina Davies opened the door, "Vedh?"
Vedh Balon stood at the door, looking confused, "Sorry, Aunt. I'm late. Could you call Ashu?" Hina Davies replied.
"But Ashu already left with you," Hina said, perplexed.
“Left?”
Hina Davies began to panic upon seeing his expression. If Ashu had left with Vedh, why was he searching for her? And if she hadn't left with him, why did Ashu pretend to be late, claiming that Vedh was looking for her?
...
"Hey," Ashu answered the call as she entered the ward.
"Where are you?" Vedh's voice came through the phone.
"Oh, Vedh. Give me a moment, please."
"Okay."
Ashu held her purse and laptop, juggling the phone between her ear and shoulder. She entered the cabin, placed her belongings on the table, and sat down in relief.
"Tell me, what happened?" She asked.
"Why did you leave when I asked you to wait for me this morning?"
Ashu pressed her fingers against her forehead and let out a sigh.
"I'm really sorry, Vedh. I was waiting for you, but..."
"But what? What about your leg?"
"I'm much better now, really."
"Where are you? Did you reach safely?"
"Yeah, I'm here. Don't worry, and sorry for this morning."
"Okay then, I'll hang up."
"Yeah."
Ashu hung up the call, a warm smile spreading across her pink lips as she shook her head.
Vedh was one of the best doctors in the country, and he was genuinely worried about her just because she had left without him.
...
"The bridge project is in our favor, and his company will go bankrupt if you sign the documents for that contract," Jo Gu said, his tone serious.
Laksh Wilson smiled sarcastically as he glanced at Jo Gu, who was engrossed in the documents, narrating the situation to the chairman.
"I don't want to sign that contract either," Laksh replied, his smile filled with irony.
Jo Gu was stunned, his eyes fixed on the chairman in disbelief.
The man who had spent countless days trying to defeat him through both fair and foul means, the person whose downfall was just a signature away, was now refusing to do so?
Had he forgotten the tremendous effort they had invested in overcoming that man and his family?
"Are you out of your mind?" Jo Gu asked, his shock evident. Laksh's smile grew faint.
"I can't bear to see that family fall," Laksh said quietly.
Jo Gu closed the documents, his expression turning serious as he glared at Laksh.
"Do you have any idea how much your parents fought to save this company from them? And now, at a stage where you can obliterate them with a mere signature, you're unwilling to do so. If they go bankrupt, they will never have the audacity to rise again and harm you." Jo Gu's words held weight, and he was right.
Laksh let out a snort and gazed at the bottle of red wine displayed on the showcase. It was his favorite wine, but he found himself unable to enjoy it. He turned his head and looked at Jo Gu, his mischievous smile returning.
"My focus is not to utterly ruin them. I am reveling in this game of winning and defeating. Let them relish it too." He snorted, stood up, and sauntered over to the wine cabinet, his hands sliding into his pockets.
Jo Gu rose from his seat, his eyes filled with panic as he watched Laksh's back.
"You've been waiting for this day for so long. Think carefully before you deny it."
"I have already made up my mind, Mr. Jo. They won't be destroyed. There's still time for their downfall. I don't want them to crumble so easily. I want them to suffer and die every day, just as they made me suffer." His last sentence quivered, but his voice remained resolute. His decision was somewhat unrealistic—he was forfeiting the opportunity to ruin his most anticipated enemy.
Jo Gu sighed, shaking his head helplessly, "You're changing your methods day by day."
"Isn't it interesting to work with me?" Laksh turned around, raising an eyebrow.
"Can you at least explain why you're letting them off so easily?" Jo Gu couldn't let go of that matter; it seemed that the chairman was taking it all in stride. The young man was truly dangerous. Jo Gu had toiled relentlessly, following the chairman's orders to dismantle the Flores Group. Finally, after years of hard work, they had a chance to bring the Flores Group to ruin. And now, at the last moment, the man was refusing to destroy them and even permitting them to escape their fate.
Laksh turned his back to Jo Gu, a chilling smile playing on his lips. "I believe I have plenty of time to handle these matters now." He walked back to his chair, his hand resting on the backrest.
The atmosphere in the room grew tense, the gravity of Laksh's decision hanging heavily in the air. Jo Gu struggled to comprehend the chairman's reasoning, unsure of what the future held. Laksh Wilson had proven once again that he was an enigma, constantly evolving in his methods and strategies.
"Call for a press conference. Let's announce the game," he declared confidently, revealing the darker side of his persona. As always, Jo Gu didn't argue and simply nodded, slowly exiting the room to prepare for the press conference. The announcement would reveal that the Wilson Group was withdrawing from the biggest project in the country, all for the sake of the struggling Flores Group. Laksh Wilson sighed deeply and stared at the nameplate on his desk, a touch of sadness shimmering in his large blue eyes as he struggled to suppress something in his heart.
Just then, an elderly woman emerged from the private suite after cleaning it. Laksh Wilson turned his head and regarded her. The old lady greeted him respectfully and made her way to the couch situated at a distance from his desk, where he stood with poise.
"Young Master, this scarf was left behind by Madam yesterday. I found it on the bed," she said, holding out a light pink scarf.
