Anders didn't stop blabbering something mafia-related after she got home from the Dawson household, he really seriously wanted her to find a mafia bossess who had a higher position than Maverick for her safety and of course she immediately rejected the crazy idea — no, she didn't need others to ensure her safety.
She can do it herself.
She didn’t want to romanticize the mafia, simply that is because they are powerful and dangerous. If they wants someone to die then they will make it happen, no matter how hard they trying to escape and hide, the mafia would always find them. It terrifying her.
But Anders is Anders, he is stubborn and keeps forcing her to find someone who would fit her criteria in finding a lover — but it would be even better if he was a mafia who was more dangerous than Maverick, making them both end up in La Cuna — a an elite nightclub that only the privileged could enter and luckily she wasn't one of them.
The bad news, Anders was one of the people who got the invitation because he is the son of a rich businessman so he can invite anyone to come with him and his friends. His elite circle is no joke — he hangs out with the children of influential people in America, in contrast to her who only has a small elite circle.
“Well, what we have here?” Anders friends smirked as she entered the special VVIP room occupied by them, at first they were surprised to find her coming to the nightclub because of her reputation — but there's nothing wrong with a lady like this coming to a place like this, right?
“Fancy seeing you here, M'lady” a man with blonde hair and green eyes “I'm Radley, Oscar Radley”
'Ah, Earl Radley's son' she thought and she nodded, before she spoke one of them said “Arabella Briar Genesis from The Genesis Family, we know — how come we don't recognize the owner of Briar Holdings where this lucky bastard works?” Andrew Harper, the son of a famous banker, smirked at her.
“Why is he called lucky?” she asked with an eyebrow raised and sat in an empty place “he's the son of a wine plantation owner but has to work for me”
“That's where he's lucky, he can work for you” Elias Onyx, the son of a famous lawyer replied and winked “You're quite famous”
Ah, he was praising her too much.
Instead of blushing, she rolled his eyes lazily “you're too much”
“We're not” Xander Maxwell, whom he knows to be the son of a renowned neurosurgeon replied sweetly “it's nice to have you among us now”
She knew all of them very well, they were a bunch of businessmen and sons of influential and famous people, it was no wonder they came here often — they were a bunch of people with excess money.
But the good news is that they’re nice to her and she's easy to get along with.
Making her dance freely and wildly with lots of drunken people, for the first time she didn't care about her reputation — she wanted to enjoy something she hadn't done in a long time. Anders and the others were in their room, leaving her alone on the dance floor after they made her promise not to accept drinks from strangers and leave without their knowledge.
Until a large hand pulled him out of the crowd and stood right next to the dance floor, no one paid attention to her who being violently tugged by a foreign man in a leather jacket and a familiar tribal tattoo on his hand — only his tattoo was familiar but she didn't know who was pulling her roughly now “Who are you?” she hissed sharply, annoyed by strangers acting rudely to her “You hurt me you f*****g git”
“You're hurt? Good” he grinned smugly “boss will hurt you more than this once I bring you to him”
Boss?
“Ah, you're Maverick men's?” she said angrily and then a smirk plastered on her lips “go away before I kill you” she says boldly as she released her hand from the grip of the man in front of her by force, a red rash printed on her wrist — the presence of one of her stepbrothers subordinates sent chills down to her spine but she can't do anything.
Escaping sounded great, but not if he pulled out his gun and shot her in a crowd like this — well, it couldn't be because she knew everyone who came in here would be checked and if they were carrying any weapons the guards would took it.
Her feet took a step back reflexively, making the man in front of him clenched his jaw “you make me even more annoyed” he said suddenly with a hand choking her tightly “I could kill you right now and no one will be aware of it” a terrible smile was printed on his lips “obey me if you don't want to die now”
Fuck, she cursed herself for being careless and wanting to dance in dance floor with no one to accompany her — then her eyes glanced at the room where Anders and his friends were, they were seen drinking and occasionally laughing, making her realize that they wouldn't notice she was in danger. It's also useless to shout, because her voice won't reach their ears because of the deafening sound of the music.
Until an unfamiliar voice interrupted them “I wouldn't touch a beautiful woman that rough if I were you” he says as he stands behind Maverick’s men “she is too precious to be hurt, isn't she?”
“If I were you, I will not interfere in other people's business” he hissed, annoyed by his sudden arrival “and this slut deserve it, please mind your own business, get lost”
“You must have a death wish — touch her like that again and I'll kill you, boy” he says dangerously “she is mine”
What nonsense did he just say? she thought
“Oh, will you? Because the last time I checked, she belonged to someone else and petty threats don't do s**t, man. They just piss me off more” he removed his grip from Arabella and gave him a murderous look — making a low, dark chuckle escape his mouth and beat him mercilessly.
Bloods poured from Maverick’s men mouth and nose — he was already battered and pitiful, but it seems that he had no desire to stop.
“Watch you mouth, is that how you speak to your superior?” he asked venomously as he stood up and stared smugly at the man below him, ignoring Arabella who was staring at him in shock with both hands covering her mouth, as well as the group of people who had stopped dancing wildly who were now looking at him with fear “get it done, boys”
Who is he?
His men approached the man as he dragged Arabella away to his room “and you come with me”
And the night ends with her slapping hard the man who saved her, not knowing who he is.
.
She wore a long maroon dress that was almost the same color as her eyes, black heels and red lipstick. Her bare back was clearly visible — the dark color she wore made her shine even more and gave off her aura, making her look incredibly beautiful. Anders praised her and said that she would really be the center of attention later.
And that is not wrong
Arabella and Anders walked into the room confidently, all heads turn to see them — they look at them with a look of adoration in their eyes. But she ignored it and scanned into the room and her red eyes narrowed when she found the man who saved her was at this events with Anders' friends whom she met last night “Alright princess, are you sure you won't join the silent auction?” and she nodded curtly “It will be fun honestly, but if you really don't want to I won't force you” Then he led her to a chair near the drinking table “wait for me here and don't go too far” and again she nodded slowly even though she didn't hear it quite clearly because music is playing with people dancing.
Once she was alone, she watching at the people who were gathing around and dancing elegantly — they seemed to be enjoying everything in here while she was bored to death. Her hand wander on the wine glass she was holding, swirling the liquid until then her red eyes caught a pair of dark blue eyes staring at her intensely along with a grin attached to his face. Something inside her screamed in fear, as if knowing that man was dangerous and just thinking about it making her shiver.
