Untitled Episode
Chapter 1
"Ash, you haven't been visiting us lately, " Mom complained over the phone.
"I've been extremely busy at work," Asher explained, waving off my timid secretary as he placed a stack of documents on my desk.
"With Christmas approaching, I think it's important that you come visit us this year," she insisted.
Asher sighed, unbuttoning the tight tie that had been around my neck all morning "Alright"
"I'll take your word for that, " Mom said excitedly.
But then her tone shifted,"Mom, don't think about bringing that topic up" Asher groaned, already knowing the next question she was going to ask.
"When will you bring a girl home?" she asked, causing Asher to roll his eyes.
Asher was so focused on my work that he didn't have time for a relationship. Not to mention, his mom's problems are enough for him to handle. Let's not talk about another female in my life.
Asher groaned as he placed the phone on the table. Asher picked up his suit jacket that was spread all over the floor and headed for the door.
As he walked out of the office, making sure that the office door was sealed shut to avoid any crime. He's had enough trouble to last him an eternity.
The November breeze already filled the air, as he heard a group of homeless people hum to the tune of jingle bells.
Asher's phone started to vibrate, but he ignored it, just wanting to escape reality for a little while. He entered a nearby pub, where the bartender greeted him immediately .
"What can I get you on this cool night?" the lady bartender smirked. Vodka seemed like the drink to set the tone for the evening, so he ordered two shots.
He pulled out his phone to finally answer it. "Speak," Asher said into the phone.
"Mr black"
"I don't have all night James," Asher shouted through the phone.
"I just wanted to inform you that the ambassadors are requesting an extension on the project, another two weeks."
Asher let out a string of curses and cut off the call, refusing to deal with work for the rest of the night.
The bartender set the two shots of vodka in front of me. "Rough day?" she asked, a hint of sympathy in her voice.
As she picked up a towel to clean the counter. Asher waved off the bartender when she asked if he wanted another drink.
"Just the bill " Asher requested asked, his voice already sluggish with drink. He fumbled with his wallet and pulled out his credit card, dropping it on the bar.
The bartender picked it up, wiped it on a cloth before swiping it, then handed it back to him.
Asher could barely keep his eyes open, and he knew he wouldn't make it back to his apartment in this state.
Asher got up from the stool, and stumbled a bit. He walked out of the pub and went outside, cold immediately creeping into his neck.
Shivering, Asher called out to a cab. When it arrived, he climbed into the back of a cab, and before he could tell the driver my house address, he felt himself slipping into a deep sleep and woke up with a start when the cab came to a stop.
"We've arrived," the cab driver said, a hint of irritation in his voice.
" How did you know my house address" asked, Asher asked, fumbling with my wallet and tossed my credit card at the cab driver
"You kept mumbling it while you were sleeping" he informs you, as he unlocks the door
"Keep the card," Asher said, as he stumbled out of the cab.
He swayed on his feet, trying to keep his balance as he looked for his keys inside his pants pocket.
Finally, Asher found the right one and unlocked the door. Max came rushing at Asher and jumping on his body.
Asher leaned down and gave him a scratch behind the ears. "Hey, boy," Asher slurred as he ruffled his ears.
Max licked Asher's face, earning a little laugh for him, his tail wagging with excitement.
" Buddy, How was your day?" Asher asked. Max barked and did a little turn, his tail still wagging.
"Well, I had a pretty shitty day" Asher said "But I'm glad you had a good one." Asher staggered to his room, feeling nauseous and dizzy.
He made it to the bathroom just in time to throw up into the toilet bowl, rinsing his face with cold water, feeling a little better as his senses game alive again.
As Asher looked at my reflection in the mirror, he saw how much my life had changed in the past few months.
His dad brought up the news that he was going to handle the company for a year, just to see if he was capable of handling the company when his dad hands it over to him fully.
Asher felt tired physically and as he staggered into his bed, turning off the lamb that was on his desk.
As he lay there in the darkness, he thought about how stressed out he really was.
Asher really needed to go to the spa. He couldn't remember when last he treated himself, or even took care of himself , both mentally and physically.
Asher was so lost and alone, and he didn't know how to find his way back.
The events of the day had taken their toll on him, and he just wanted to rest. He laid on the bed, and soon, drifted off to sleep.
Eventually, Asher opened his eyes and found himself back in the darkness of his bedroom.
He closed my eyes, forcing myself to sleep. As he lay in bed, he felt a soft pull at his legs. He opened my eyes and saw Max, staring up at Asher with his big puppy dog eyes.
Max whined and looked up at me, wanting to be let up. Asher moved over, making room for Max to jump up.
He settled down next to me, resting his head on my arm.
Asher stroked his soft fur, and he placed his head closer to Ashee. They both drifted off to sleep, happy in each other's company.
"Good night buddy" Asher couldn't resist saying. Max's head moves a bit closer to Asher's chest.
Asher finally allowed himself to drift back into the hands of sle
ep. Only the sound of his wall clock could be heard because sleep had him already in its grip.
