XENIA “I don’t think I um… heard you correctly,” I blinked at Thekla, hoping she’d reassure me by taking her words back. “Oh,” she said innocently, oblivious to my discomfort, “I asked if you’d like to join me and the guys for lunch, I’m headed there now,” she repeated, making explosives go off in my head. “Thank you, but I don’t think that’s a good idea,” I rushed out like there was hot coal in my mouth, only to be met with a warm smile from Thekla. I doubt she understood how weary I was of her monstrous boyfriend, if she’d experienced a quarter of the hellish encounters I’d had with him she’d never have extended such an invitation towards me. “Come on, sweetheart, we won’t bite, I promise,” she grinned before hooking an arm under mine and starting to drag me towards the cafeteria.
