Chapter Twenty-Five

1150 Words
I was going to be my own fighter, I was going to decide what I wanted to do and not let anyone else tell me what I should do. When I approached Grayson’s camp, I heard deep growls but I ignored them. “Well, if it isn’t my famous niece.” Angelina’s voice reached me. “They don't have you locked in a cage? Pity, that’s where monsters like you belong.” I growled at you. “What, did the vampires grow tired of your annoying ways?” “You're one to talk! Even your own mother gets sick of you.” “At least mine kept me.” “Hidden away!” “Ladies!” Liam yelled, coming into view. Isla was walking behind him, a strange look on her face. “Stop, Grayson is not going to be in the best mood if he sees the two of you like this.” “The vampires are moving today. They’ll be here within three hours.” I told Liam. “Lana?” Grayson asked, looking at me, unsure. I didn't even notice him come into view. “What are you doing here?” “Warning you. I assume Angelina has told you about vampires changing dates that much I can pick up from your mind. But they are moving now; Charles is at the camp preparing.” “Why?” He asked again. “I thought your allegiance was with the vampires.” “My allegiance is with myself.” I told him truthfully and Angelina laughed. “Dissed you, did he?” Angelina laughed and I growled. “I would shut your mouth before I shut it for you!” “Grayson, be a dear and deal with this pest.” Angelina smiled. “Oh, I'm sorry I forgot how much you cared for her. Oh, Lana, guess who can read the wolves?” She smirked. I was going to retort but I realized that it was pointless, a never-ending battle with our words. “The vampires are coming, Grayson are you prepared?” “I'm moving the wolves now; we are centering ourselves and fighting in a circle. We will be stronger and stand firmer.” Grayson said, looking at me but occasionally glancing at Angelina. “We need to move out now.” Grayson announced and the wolves began to move. “How far are we?” I asked Grayson, walking forward. “Not far, maybe ten minutes? The humans are taking a car there, are you going to run with us?” I nodded. “Why are you back? I assumed once you got back to the vampires you would stay with them.” I just shrugged. “Especially after I killed those two vampires…” “I was seriously pissed off about that…they did nothing!” “’I have a question, Lana…I found you that day after you ran, you went to Cain and you were arguing with him…and you said something. Was it true?” “That I love you?” I asked and he nodded. “If you would have asked me that day, I would have said yes…maybe even today but I am not sure anymore.” We moved out. “I am pretty much over the idea of Cain and I together now, he has a girl who is perfect for him.” “And me?” “I am not sure…Grayson I care for you, much more than I should…but I also care for someone else. Someone I am extremely pissed at right now but I still care for him.” “You know, during this battle you are going to have to choice and you can't hesitate because either side will try to kill you. I may be in charge of the wolves, but I can not control them all during the battle.” “I know, the same goes for the vampires. Angelina and I will be targets during this and Angelina is pretty much defensiveless.” “I would not say that.” Grayson said, mysteriously. “We need to go, follow us?” I nodded. “Wolves go!” The humans transformed into wolves and began to run in a pack. I took up the tail, keeping near the back and closing up the pack. It was strange watching the wolves run like that, there were so many that they looked like one being, moving easily through the trees and the nature surrounding. We made it to an opening, where the trees didn't dare to grow and I saw thousands of wolves, ready, all in wolf form and ready to attack. I could pick up the humans in the center and Liam, Maya and Angelina were not the only humans. Grayson barked as we approached the large pack and the wolves separated. Grayson waited for me to catch up and we walked through the sea of wolves to the center. I could tell that Grayson was communicating with the wolves, telling them the battle plans. It was strange because I could hear what Grayson was saying, through Angelina’s mind. He was simply talking battle strategy and pumping the wolves up, preparing them for the battle. I realized how much it meant to them, this was either the day that they took over or the day that werewolves became extinct. I became frightened for the wolves. This battle meant more to them than it did to the vampires, because no matter what there would be vampires left in the world, left ruling places, but this could be the werewolves’ last stand. The wolves pressed in tight, and then they all faced outwards, waiting. “They're coming.” Angelina and I whispered at the same time. Grayson looked at us, and then howled, deep sound that resonated through my chest. I could hear growling, yipping and the sound of jaws snapping. The vampires stepped into view and the surrounded the werewolves. The Princes led the vampires, standing in front and dressed in the battle armor. I automatically looked for Charles, and saw that he was standing with Cain, Milo and Cecily. Our eyes met and I saw disappointment. Milo and Cecily looked excited and Cain was watching me, his eyes concerned and when I looked into his mind, I realized that he was frightened for me. “This is your last chance!” Charles yelled, and there was a hush over both sides. “Give up and we may not slaughter all of you.” Wrong words. All the wolves began to growl and howl at the vampires. “Have it your way!” Grayson howled, Charles yelled, and the two sides began running for each other, until they collided.
