Chapter Sixteen

I woke up to an empty bed and I was actually disappointed that Charles was not there. What was there though was a note on his pillow. “Sorry for leaving, love, I had some official business to take care of. When you wake up, meet me in my office because I have a few things that I need to discuss with you. Yours truly. Charles.” I smiled and headed to the shower. After showering, I dressed in leggings, a yellow shirt and bright yellow stilettos. After applying my make-up, I went to talk to Charles and when I found him he was buried in paper work, but oddly enough, he looked at home. “You wanted to talk?” I asked and he looked up. As he took me in his eyes grew wide and he smirked. “”I don't think I have ever seen you in yellow…I like it.” I smiled. “Now, follow me.” I followed him down the hall and to the basement, where they kept all their prisoners. “Now, I know that you can't read wolves but I was hoping since you know more about them than us that you would be able to get more information at of them.” “Wait, you have a wolf here?” I asked as we turned the corner and I heard screaming. “I swear, I will kill everyone in the retched place!” A familiar voice screamed. When I saw who it was, I turned on Charles. “Why the hell is she here, in your prison?” “Because she is a werewolf, and our enemy.” Charles said, slightly surprised by my tone and action. “Lana?” Isla asked. “I should have known! I should have known that you were going to turn on us, on him!” “Just shut up for one minute, Isla.” “What can you get from her?” Charles asked. “Nothing, she won't share a thing, even if you torture her. Wolves are different than vampires, they are bound by blood, mind and soul, they are all one and they won't turn on another unless the have been disowned by their pack or their pack did something to them.” “So, we should just kill her.” Charles went to signal the guards. “Over my dead body.” I growled. “Excuse me? You would stick up for this wolf?” Charles asked, a bit confused. “Yes, despite the fact that we never got along, I would not let you kill her.” “Wait…you're standing up for me?” Isla asked. “Of course.” I said, looking at her. “Besides, Charles, your brother would kill you if you killed his mate.” “This is Charles!” Isla yelled and at the same moment, Charles yelled, “This is Liam’s mate!” “Yeah, so I suggest you let her out and I am sure if you don't let her go that Liam and her pack will come for her, because she is not low in the pack, and Alpha Grayson cares for her.” I said, before thinking. “That is perfect! We can lead the wolves out with her!” That meant that Grayson would be coming here… “No!” I yelled. “What do you mean no?” Charles asked. “That would be a horrible idea. Even if you take out Lupus Sanguine, there are other packs ready to rise and lead, there would be no point, and you should just stick with Crimson Night.” “You just don't want them to meet.” Isla smiled. I glared at her. “And you should let her go…almost to…” I leaned in to his ear so that Isla could not hear. “Give them a false sense of security, because the wolves are ruthless and they’ll think that you're going soft.” Charles nodded. “You'll have to walk her out and far from here.” Charles said, looking at Isla. “Take Cain with you.” “Cain is still here?” “Of course, Lana, do you expect me to leave so quickly?” Cain asked coming around the corner. I shook my head and I smiled. “Now, let her out and we can send her on her.” I said, looking at Charles. He opened the door and she flung out, only to be quickly restrained by Cain. “Calm down, wolfy.” Cain smirked as she struggled in his arms. “You know, she's kind of hot for a wolf.” “Calm down, fangs.” I said, matching his tone. I looked at Charles. “We’ll be back.” Charles kissed my cheek and I heard Isla snarl. “Be nice.” Cain said as Charles disappeared and we took the second exit, leading straight to the lawn. “She is cheating on Grayson; don't tell me to be nice!” Isla growled. “I am not cheating on anyone! I do not have a relationship with anyone at the moment!” “Grayson is your mate!” “As is Charles!” “You love this vampire.” She said, calming herself. “I don't understand that…if I have two mates, which I don't even understand, why do I still love Cain.” “Hey, I'm still right here!” Cain grumbled, but his eyes were amused. “How long have you loved Cain?” Isla asked. “Since I was human… I mean at times at hated him, but I always loved him…so it’s been over two years.” “You were human? That explains everything, because you loved him when you were human, it messed everything up because you were meant to become a vampire, and you weren’t supposed to love when you were human so the love carried over.” “Excuse me…how do you know so much about vampires?” I asked, I thought she did not have much experience with vampires. She sighed. “I was raised by vampire until I turned sixteen…they thought I was human but when I turned into a wolf they let me go, just throwing me into the wild but it was better than what would have happened to me if they would have given me to the authorities. I have been with Grayson ever since.” “How did you end up with the vampires?” Cain asked. “I have no idea. They told me that they found me one night, and it they had been created so far apart that they could not have kids, so when they found me they did not ask questions, they just took me home. They loved me…but I saw how their friends treated them afterwards, when they had told them…I hated other vampires since then.” “Cain, let her go, we are far enough away. You run, Isla, and you don't look back because I'm not sure how long before Charles changes his mind.” She nodded and then ran. “A werewolf raised by vampires? Now, that is different. I wonder who her parents were…” Cain thought aloud and then we turned back to the castle. Isla’s POV I ran and I ran, as far from the vampires as possible. I never thought I would get out of there, I never thought they would let me go and I never in a million years thought Lana would stand up for me against the vampires. I kept running until I came to a very familiar looking wolf. “Grayson!” I yelled at the wolf and he transformed automatically. “Isla! How did you get away? I saw them take you, Liam is being held in our prison so he wouldn’t go after you.” “You will never guess…Lana convinced the King of Vampires to let me go…she walked me out and let me go. I did figure out why she still loves that Cain though.” I looked Grayson over and at one point I would be drooling, seeing his toned body, those perfect abs, those perfect legs, that perfect…well…but now I had my Liam and he was the only male that I wanted to see like that. “Why?” “She loved him while she was human, and when she was changed while still loving him, so it is in her make-up as a vampire.” “So, she will always love him?” I nodded. “Dammit!” Grayson growled. “What about this Charles? How close is she with him?” “From the look of it, very. She loves the three of you, it was very obvious because she would not have stood up for me if it wasn’t for you, trust me.” “I just want her…we have to beat the vampires and I have to get her. What did you learn while you were there?” “They are going to stick with Crimson Night even though we know about it, which means we should let them push us in, because then we’ll be covered a all angles. They’ll think that they have the advantage, but instead we will.” “Maybe…but first we have to get you back to Liam before he kills the guards.” “Oh, one more thing Grayson. The way to get to Charles, the king of Vampires is Lana…the way to get to the Queen is her daughter, Lana’s aunt.” “So, to win this or at least gain some control we are going to have to capture two of the most guarded and powerful people in the vampire world?” “Yep.”
