The plan

We sit together in Daisy’s cozy house, its warmth and charm a stark contrast to the gravity of our discussion. Around the table, my guardians and I brainstorm ways to help the werewolves, a species that shares my blood and my soul. My mind whirls with the weight of the massacres, the pain of lives lost, and the rage that still simmers inside me. Claude speaks up, his voice breaking through my thoughts. “Queen Lenora, I’ve heard rumors of a Lycan king who lives outside of the dark sorcerer’s territory. He’s powerful and might have knowledge about the werewolf massacres. Lycans are different from werewolves, but he might know something that could help us.” His suggestion lights a flicker of hope in my chest. I sit up straighter, feeling that flutter of hope spread. “That’s a brilliant idea, Claude. We need any lead we can get. But do you know where we could find him?” Claude shakes his head. “I don’t know exactly where his kingdom is, but if we travel near his territory, we may be able to track it down.” I lean forward, considering the possibilities. “We need to start somewhere. Maybe if we go back to the site of the m******e, we can find clues that lead to other werewolf villages. It’s not much, but it’s all we have to go on right now.” Maya nods in agreement. “That could work. The site might give us a starting point, something to follow.” With that plan in mind, we waste no time. I summon my magic, and together, we teleport to the m******e site. The moment we arrive, the stench of death hangs in the air like a thick, suffocating fog. The scene is haunting—ash still lingers where homes once stood, the earth blackened from the flames. My heart clenches as I take it all in. We walk slowly through the ruins, the silence heavy, broken only by the crunch of our footsteps on the charred ground. The skeleton of a larger house looms ahead—probably where the alpha had once lived. Now it’s nothing more than rubble, ransacked and left for dead by the ravens. I feel a pang of helplessness as I search the scene, but nothing of use remains. The ravens were thorough, stripping the place bare. Suddenly, a snap echoes through the air—a branch breaking in the distance. My head whips toward the sound, and in the shadows, I catch a flash of glowing yellow eyes. The figure sees me and bolts, vanishing into the trees. I don’t think, I just act. Without a word, I chase after the figure, my legs pumping beneath me as I push faster and faster. My body surges with power, and for the first time in what feels like forever, I feel free. The wind rushes through my hair, my muscles burning with the thrill of the hunt. This is what I was made for—this wild, untamed power coursing through me. The figure dodges through the trees, agile and fast, but I’m faster. The gap between us closes, and as I near, I see it clearly—a massive wolf, larger than any normal wolf. Its coat is dark brown, its muscles rippling with strength. This has to be a werewolf, one of my kind. With a burst of energy, I leap into the air, flying over the wolf and landing with a solid thud right in front of it. The wolf skids to a halt, its yellow eyes blazing as it snarls, teeth bared. But I don’t back down. I stand firm, my hands raised in a gesture of peace. “Stop! I won’t hurt you,” I say, my voice steady but urgent. “I just need to talk.” For a moment, the wolf pauses, its eyes locked on mine. But then, it howls—a deep, primal sound that echoes through the forest. The ground beneath my feet trembles as the howl fades, and I hear them—other beasts, rushing toward us from every direction. Their footfalls shake the earth, their growls and howls growing louder with each passing second. I scan the treeline, counting the approaching figures. Five… no, eight of them. They’re closing in fast. I don’t know what’s about to happen, but I won’t back down. I stand my ground, my magic pulsing just beneath the surface, ready to defend myself and the wolf before me. Whatever this is, whatever these wolves want, I’m ready. The forest vibrates with the energy of the approaching pack. They’re almost here, and I can feel the weight of their power pressing in on me. But I’m not afraid. I am the Alpha king’s daughter, the queen of fairies, and protector of my people. I will face whatever comes next.
