Alpha's Rebound

~ Estelle’s POV ~ How much more? How much longer do I have to suffer? What sort of sins have I committed that I am living such a miserable life? I thought, just like every other she-wolf, I would even have a happy ending with my mate, but what if the person whom the moon goddess selected for us ended up betraying us in the end? I believed that he loved me, but I was wrong from the beginning. How could I seriously believe that someone of his position would choose someone like me? The one with the bullied past and the one who could never bear an heir for him. In werewolves, an heir plays an important role, but all I could bear was two daughters. “I am hungry, mom”, said my seven-year-old, Eloise. I coughed while I was wiping the body of my other daughter Eve with a damp washcloth. Eve’s condition is getting worse by the day and even her fever is not going down. My eyes became teary when I saw the poor condition in which we were living. I am such an incompetent mother that I am not even able to provide a basic living for my daughters. Even the food stock is not enough for all three of us. “When will father come, mom? It’s so cold in here. Why is he not here yet? You said that we are playing hide-and-seek, so why is it taking him so long?” Eve asked me and there was nothing that I could say to her. “What if he got lost somewhere in the forest while trying to find us? I am tired mom. I don’t want to hide anymore. Can’t we just go back to our packhouse?” Eloise sounded quite annoyed by the condition that we were living in and I tried my best to hold back my tears for my daughter’s sake. I need to be stronger for them. They are continuously asking me about their father, but how can I tell them that Claude ... their father left me for some other woman who is going to give the Blue Blood Pack an heir? How could I tell them that he abandoned us for his new family? How could I tell them that, for their father, they are nothing more than a mistake? Everything started when I was just a normal teenager with no wolf, but my parents never disliked me for that thing, nor did my pack members hate me. Even though we were not a powerful pack, my father was a respected Alpha and my mother was a Luna who was loved by everyone in the pack. My life took a complete turn when I turned eighteen. Eve shook me and I came back to my senses. She was asking me to give her something to eat, so I gave her and Eloise my share of food. I can spend the rest of the night drinking one or two glasses of water. Suddenly, Eloise’s condition became worse and suddenly started to cough out blood. Her face went almost pale. “What happened, El? Look here. Let me see”, I panicked when I saw my daughter in pain. She was continuously coughing out blood and Eve started to cry when she saw her twin sister in such a state. What could I do? Why am I so helpless? I don’t have a family anymore and nor do I have a pack. There is only one person who could help me out at this time and that’s Claude. He might have banished us from the pack, but if he knew that I would need help to treat Eloise then he would surely do something, right? Claude can’t be that cruel and heartless. He wouldn’t let his own child suffer a miserable death. I got up from the worn-out bed. This place was once a place where I used to play with my best friend, but she even died in that m******e. She tried to warn me, but I didn’t listen to any of her warnings. “Take care of your sister, Eve. I will be back with a pack doctor. Don’t open up the gate to anyone and don’t wander in the dark forest alone. There might be some rogues lurking around, so you better be careful, alright?” I kept my hands on her shoulders and after asking her to stay on alert, I wore the hoodie to hide my face. I gazed at the broken mirror to see my reflection before heading out of the cottage. I pinned up Ash's grey hair colour as a few of my hair strands were sticking to my face. I gazed at my green eyes, which had a hint of gold in them. This was not how I always looked. Back in the day, I was constantly harassed for having an ugly appearance, but Claude treated me nicely. He never laughed at me, so I changed myself just for him. I never thought that he would even leave me. He might insult me for showing my face to him, but I am ready to sacrifice my self-respect if it means that I could save my daughter. I hid my face properly as I didn’t want to attract the attention of Aria’s spies that she had left behind me. I walked towards the packhouse and after walking for a while I finally saw the place which was once my home. The place where I gave birth to my daughters... The place where they insulted us and, after that, we were thrown out of the packhouse. They accused me of many crimes, but I never committed those things. The moment I stepped at the entrance of the packhouse... I just gasped in shock. The whole place was decorated with lights and lilies. People were standing in beautiful gowns and tuxedos. When I walked inside... I could feel their gaze at me. I felt kind of out of place here, so I lowered my hoodie. I tried to walk as fast as possible, but suddenly I stumbled upon someone, but before I could hit the ground, someone held me by my waist. My face was covered so I was not able to see the man’s face. He helped me to stand on my feet properly. “Watch where you are going. There won’t be people around you all the time to help you out”, the man said while he was still holding my wrist. I am not sure how he looks, but his voice sounded kind of deep and familiar. Weirdly, even my heart skipped a beat. How could something like this happen? He is not even my mate. I need to get out of here before Claude sees me with him. He would surely blame me for trying to seduce one of his guests. “You...”, before the man could complete his words... I removed my wrist from his grasp and then I dashed towards the main hall where people were gathered around a couple. When I walked a little closer, I saw a woman in her mid-twenties. She was wrapping her arms around someone who was supposed to be my mate and the father of my children. Claude tucked away Aria’s chestnut brown hair strand behind her ear while she ran her fingers through his unruly copper brown hair. They were both lost in each other's eyes and everyone around them was cheering for the new couple. Aria was showing her swollen belly with a smile on her face. She was wearing a beautiful white gown while my ex-husband was wearing a nice black tux. The one who cheated on me was Claude, but I am the one who is going through hell even after being cheated on. The day I lost everything... I also lost my faith in the moon goddess. “They do look perfect together”, I heard one of the guests, while the others agreed with her. “I am not even sure why exactly did the Alpha take someone like Estelle as his mate and as Luna of the pack? I always felt that she was plain and good for nothing. Tsk, she even thought that after bearing two daughters she would be able to maintain her position in the pack. I did hear from the wizard and the pack doctors that Aria is carrying a son”, replied the other guest while they were all sipping their wine. I don’t care what they think of me, but I am going to save my daughter. While I was thinking about the idea of approaching Claude, suddenly someone poured a glass of wine on my head. “Look, Aria... who is here to congratulate you on your wedding? It’s the ex-Luna. The one who got banished after trying to hurt you and your baby”, said Mikael in a loud voice while he removed my hoodie. He is the Beta of the Blue Blood Pack and the elder brother of Aria. He clenched my arms and I just cried in pain. When Aria looked at me... she immediately widened her eyes while she hid behind Claude. “You! How f*****g dare you! Why are you here? Don’t tell me that you wanted to become one of the witnesses at my wedding?” Claude looked quite infuriated to see my face. I wiped my face with the sleeves of my top, but then Mikael kicked me to my knees and I immediately fell to the floor. “How could you marry her... I am still your mate, Claude. Yes, we are divorced, but you still haven’t rejected me” I said to him calmly, but then I felt my hair being pulled back by my so-called mate. This time he was so angry that he kicked my abdomen with all his might. I curled up against my body on the floor to protect myself from getting kicked by him. “It’s annoying... it’s f*****g annoying! How could a wolfless and powerless woman turn out to be my mate? I should have rejected you right at that moment, but my parents and the elders stopped me from rejecting you, but I don’t care anymore. I just want Aria as my mate and, for that, I am ready to reject you. I, Alpha Claude Usoro, reject you... Luna Estelle Adrienne as my mate and the Luna of the Blue Blood Pack”, the moment he completed his words, I yelped in pain while I clenched my fists. I might not have my wolf, but Claude did mark me. The rejection was something that I was not able to handle, but I need to bear this pain... I need to bear it because of Eloise’s health. I could see Aria’s smirk and how she was trying to act innocent and pure in front of Claude. I should have known from the beginning that her kindness was nothing, but a pretence. She pretended to be my friend at the academy and, like a fool, I believed that she didn’t mean any harm when she tried to approach me.... that she wanted to become a friend of a wolfless girl. I thought that she was genuinely my friend, but my one mistake cost my whole pack to lose their lives and Claude made sure that they got a painful death. “She is here to hurt our child, Claude. This b***h is jealous that I am going to birth a son. My child will carry forward the name and the bloodline of the Blue Blood Pack and this is the reason she wanted to kill me, son. I am scared... I am scared of her, baby. Throw her out of here. I don’t want to see her miserable face”, Aria clenched Claude’s shirt in a tight grasp while I tried my best to suppress my painful screams. “I... I just need your help this time... Eloise’s health is deteriorating by the second. She is coughing out blood. One doctor... one doctor. That’s all I am asking from you, Claude. Your feelings might have changed for me, but she is our daughter”, I pleaded to him while I bowed my head on the floor. This is nothing... I can even beg him right now. “SHUT UP! YOU f*****g b***h! THOSE FILTHS ARE NOTHING TO ME. THEY DIE OR LIVE... I DON’T CARE”, Claude roared in his Alpha tone while I looked straight into his brown eyes with disbelief written all over my face. How could he say such things about his own daughters? I thought that he married me because he loved me, but I am not sure anymore. Did he ever love me? “You are nothing more than a banished Luna, so why exactly are you here? Mikael just threw her out. Her stench is polluting the air”, he securely held Aria in his arms while Mikael started to drag me outside the party by clenching my hair tightly in his fists. No... no... no... he is the only one who could save Eloise. There must be something that I could do, right? I pushed Mikael away with all my might and then I dashed towards Aria. I immediately grasped her feet while tears started to roll down my cheeks. “Ari... please... please help me... just one doctor... I beg you. No one is going to help me out in this place... I promise that I will go far away from this place. I will never show any of you my face... just this time... help me only this time”, I begged her in the hope that she would take pity on me. She held me by my shoulders and after that, she leaned a little closer to me. “Oh, you poor little thing. While you are here begging the people who don’t give a f**k about you... your daughters are the ones who are going to suffer in your place. Do you know why Claude is not concerned about those filthy things? Simple... because they are just mere daughters and even if they were born as boys... I don’t think that he would care about them because he loathes you”, she whispered in my ear while she tried to embrace me. I pushed her away without even thinking, but before I could move forward to help her out, Claude helped her out and I sighed in relief. It’s a good thing that he caught her before she fell. If something did happen to her or her child, then I might not be able to forgive myself, but why did she say such weird things to me? My daughters... Aria probably won’t hurt them, right? No, I can’t stay here. I need to go and check out myself if they are fine or not? I turned around to run out of the packhouse, but Claude asked his Beta to stop me from running away. “Grab the slut and take me to the place where she is staying. I am going to finish this story once and for all. I am tired of you and those two filthy things”, he said everything that was inside his head without even blinking his eyes. Filthy things? What kind of things had Aria told him that he was not even ready to accept Eloise and Eve as his daughters? Mikael, without wasting a second, listened to his Alpha and he smirked when he started to drag me out of the packhouse by my hair. Claude asked Aria to rest, but she wanted to see my end with her eyes. After dragging me for a while, they finally stopped near my worn out cottage where I have been living for the past few months with my daughter, but how do they know about my location? Unlike the... My children and I don’t have a scent. No one can trace me... even Claude is unable to find me, so how? Wait! It must be one of Aria’s people. She is a beautiful woman with many suits... One of them must be a wizard. Was he going around with Aria while he was married to me? “Are you back, mom? El is continuously coughing and there is no water left in this place”, Eve yawned while she rubbed her eyes. She must be sleepy after taking care of El, but when she stepped outside the cottage and her eyes fell on her father... she immediately rushed toward him to embrace him. She was too small, so she was only able to hug his legs, but even that didn’t melt his heart. “Dad... you are here to take us home, right? You finally found us. I am so happy”, she chirped at the mere sight of Claude, but he pushed her away with a disgusted expression on his face. “Lock them all and burn down the damn place. I am done with them. Oh, don’t burn my ex-wife as she is going to be sold at the black auction”, he told his people with a smile on his face, and some of his men looked at me from head to toe with a lustful gaze. Even Mikael was included in those people. “Run... Eve... run from here”, I tried to warn her, but how could a child doubt her father, so she just listened to him when he told her to wait inside the cottage with her sister. She went inside and Claude’s people started to throw gasoline at the cottage. Aria was only smiling while Claude gently kissed her on her lips. They are going to burn down the whole place with my daughters. No, I won’t let them die. Claude took out his lighter while he lit his cigarette. Before putting the cottage on fire.. he just smirked at me. I dug my fingernails deep into Mikael’s hand and that moment he hissed in pain... I dashed inside to save my daughters. When I went inside, El was already lying on the bed lifeless. She was no longer coughing out blood. My baby was lying unconsciously and there was nothing that I could do to revive her. Eve tried to wake her up, but she is no longer with us. There was nothing but tears in my eyes. I screamed... I tried to compress her heart... I tried every possible way to wake her up, but nothing seemed to be effective. Eve asked me what exactly happened, but I just stayed mum while I gently caressed the dead body of my daughter. Her body had turned cold, so I covered it with a worn-out blanket. “Mom... what’s happening?” Eve was confused, but how could I tell her sister had died? “Fire... mom... there is fire everywhere”, she yelled, and I could see her panic. There is no other way from where we could escape, but I don’t want her to feel the pain of burning down. I need to distract her. “Eve... try to forgive this mother of yours. Listen well, my daughter... if there is something like another life, then don’t trust anyone. Not even your own shadow. No matter how close those people are to you, never give them the chance to hurt yourself”, I embraced her tightly while I covered her body with my arms. The wooden cottage soon caught fire. “Ahhh.... ahhh... mom... it’s burning”, Eve yelled, and while my back was burning in the fire, I looked into my daughter’s green eyes and kissed her forehead. I could hear the laughter of the people who are responsible for killing me and my daughters. Aria coughed due to the smoke, so Claude took everyone out of there. They all planned this beforehand... they are all responsible for me and my daughter’s death. I won’t forget or forgive any of them. Both my daughter's bodies started to burn in front of my eyes while I yelled in a loud voice, “I will be back. This is not the end, but just the beginning... the beginning of your end. My revenge won’t be a sweet one. Hell... I will give them an experience of living hell. I won’t forgive anyone. I lived the life of a miserable Luna, but if there is something like a second chance, then I will surely rewrite my destiny... the pen will be mine and so will be the ink of that pen. “The one who will be miserable is them and not me. I might die today, but my resentment will last forever.”, I screamed at the top of my lungs and suddenly something weird happened. Instead of fire, there was some weird light surrounding me and then things started to turn back. I was able to see each and everything in those flashback memories of mine. What the heck is happening? Am I seriously getting a second chance? If so, then I won’t walk on that same path again. I won't repeat my cruel fate again. This time I won't do anything that I might regret later. This time I will have my vengeance against those who dare to hurt me and my daughters.
