Zoella
After my visit to the Gutierrez, I tried walking to the bus station to take a bus home hoping Eva will be there waiting for me.
The sun shifted a fraction of an inch and the rain started pouring without people noticing, I was prepared for the cold but definitely not the rain. Why was I feeling cold if I was putting on my coat? I looked at my body, I wasn’t wearing any coat. I must have forgotten it at the Gutierrez mansion. I sighed and assumed the day couldn’t get any worst.
But it was worst.
When I finally got to the bus station, my clothes were already wet. I sat down on the bench that was under the shade waiting for bus but it didn’t come.
Dear God, why do I have to face this today? I wish someone will push me out of this miserable situation.
I heard someone murmuring something thinking the person was talking to me but to my surprise he was talking on the phone. I could see my bra showing under the wet white T-shirt I was putting on. My bun was loose and it became a mess.
He stretched his jacket to me hoping I would take it to cover up.
God, is this the person you sent to me?
I looked at him. Confused, why do I have to come across another guy after breaking up with one?
“Umm, looks like you really need to cover that up because it’s f*****g transparent.” He said. I didn’t wanna take it; I would be giving him too much advantage. “I am seeing what you wore underneath, no offence.” He added.
I collected the jacket not because I wanted to but because I needed it. I used it to cover my body. “Thank you.”
A car came right after he had given me his jacket. Was that his ride? I assumed.
A body guard came down bringing an umbrella along with him. “sir.” The bodyguard had called.
“Why are you late?” he asked.
“I’m so sorry sir; the car broke down so we had to get another one… I’m so sorry.” The bodyguard bows his head.
He smiled. “It’s okay.”
“Let’s go sir.” The bodyguard carried the umbrella above his head as he entered the car. He looked at me through the window and the car took off.
I didn’t even get to ask for his name, how am I gonna return his jacket?”
I got home thirty minute later, half dried. Eva saw how paled I was and gave me a cup of hot cocoa which was my second favorite.
“Zoe, where did you get this leather jacket? This looks expensive and I’m not sure I’ve seen it in your closet.”
“It is expensive… a stranger gave me.” I said as I drank my hot cocoa.
“So, you are telling me that a stranger gave you his jacket.” Eva said trying to confirm.
“Yes.”
“A stranger?” Eva imitated.
“Yes, I just said that and please let me drink my cocoa in peace.”
“You know what that means?”
I frowned “Uh-huh, that he helped me?”
“No, that he is the one for you.” Eva smiled. “Think about it, you met a stranger and he gave you his jacket.”
“Eva, he was just being a gentle man.” I smiled.
“What did you say his name was again?” Eva asked ignoring what I just said.
“I never mentioned his name.”
“Okay, so what is his name?”
“I, I don’t know… I didn’t ask.” I bit my lower lips.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. Even if you met a stranger- you should always ask for his name but come on, you didn’t even ask.”
I sighed. “Wanna hear about how worst my day went?” I asked trying to change the topic again.
“How bad was it? On a scale from 1 to 100.”
“I will choose 90 because something good happened too.”
“Was the good part the stranger part?” she asked.
“Nope, I got a job at the Gutierrez.”
“You are lying… please tell me you met Zavion.”
“I’d met Zavion and he was the same guy I bumped into in the hospital.”
“Wow, so what job exactly?” Eva asked.
I took the last of my cocoa. “I would be their chief as from tomorrow and I will be doing some cleaning.”
“At least it’s better than the pizza.”
“Yes, I took a leave and I will be back in my pizza job in one month time.”
“What happened with the remaining 90 percent sadness?” She asked
I told her about the break up with Ace and how I forgot my coat at the Gutierrez mansion.
“Looks like someone told you that he was gonna break up with you the moment he receive the news about Chloe recovery.” Eva gaze tightened. “Wait… looks like I did.” She said laughing.
Zavion
Honk, I heard the car sound… I looked out the window to see who it was and to my surprise it was Ian. He never said he was coming though.
Let me introduce Ian to you all, he is my half brother from my father side which made him the illegitimate child. Ian and I are frenemies. The two of us have had a lot of adventures when we were little along with my best friend Zee and I’m sure he was gonna ask about her because he also liked her when we little which also made me recall the day he proposed to her with a plastic ring and she laughed at him and that got him upset.
I mean, she was just seven. I looked out the window again and I saw him waved at him. I haven’t seen him in sixteen years and I wondered what he was doing here after two decades. Maybe he also wants the share of father’s company.
“yo! Bro.” he said as he entered the house along with three body guards. I narrowed my eyes. “Really? Do you hate me that much?” he added.
“You know I do and besides what the f**k are you doing in my house?” I asked while taking a mouthful of chicken.
“Don’t you mean our house?” he frowned. “I will be using my old room; gosh things have really changed in here.”
“Whatever, does dad know you are here?”
“Of course, he told me to come for family reunion, I didn’t wanna. Then he suddenly shows up after the death of my mother to claim his first son. I only came for my share then I will be out of your lives.”
“Huh, everyone knows that I am his first son. You are just his mistress son which makes you illegitimate.”
“Wow, that harsh. At least I’m not as irresponsible as you are. If I had the opportunities that you had, I would have made something great out of it but you decided to become a wrestler instead.”
“f**k you!” That was the only word that could come out of my mouth.
“Take my bags upstairs, you will see my room on your left.” He said to one of the body guard.
I’d felt sorry for him about his mother but what was father thinking?
“Oh, before I forget, where is my future bride?” This minute I knew he was taking about Zee but unfortunately, I don’t know where she was either.
“And who might that be?”
“Zee of course, where is she?” he asked.
I sat down on the couch as I took the last of my chocolate ice-cream. “I don’t know where she is, I haven’t seen her since her last birthday with us and her families no longer live in that mansion.”
“You know, that was her favorite. Chocolate.” He chuckled.
“I do and thanks to her, it’s also my favorite. You know the first time I saw her, she was sitting in this same old couch, swinging her legs and humming to a particular song I don’t know. She was so beautiful and innocent and when she walked up to me and told me to be her best friend, I was the happiest person.”
“Do you remember the time we went for camping and rain started pouring all of a sudden, she saw a centipede and thought it was a snake.” He laughed out loud. “Immediately, she jumped on me and started praying.”
I looked at him and smirk.
“She was fun and talented.” I heard a voice said. I turned to see who that was.
“Ethan.” Ian stood up and gave him a big hug. “Wow, you have grown.”
“Ian? Well If you guys are taking about Zee. She was a talented person.”
“Who is Zee?” I heard Izzy’s loud voice said as she walked down the stairs.
“Can you guys just reduce your voice? I can’t even get my beauty sleep.”
“You know this is just seven pm right?” I said.
“I do but it’s not too early to go to bed.” She looked over at the person sitting next to Ethan. “And who is this handsome man?” she was flirting obviously.
“He is your brother.” Ethan said.
“What?” she was confused.
“Yh, he is your brother and dad’s illegitimate first child from a mistress.” I added.
“That was harsh Zavion.” He said “Nice meeting you… err…” he was trying to figure out what her name was.
“It’s Izzy.” She gave a soft smile.
“Nice meeting you Izzy, I hope we get along because Zavion hate me.” He took her hand into his.
“Whoa, who knew dad was a fucker?” Izzy asked.
“Everyone does because if he didn’t f**k mom then you won’t be here today.” Ethan said.
“Whatever, so who is this Zee girl that all of you are so interested in. I’m sure she is very important.” Izzy sat next to Ethan.
“Yes, she is and she is my best friend but unfortunately we haven’t heard from her for a very long time.” I said.
“She was the girl I proposed to when we were little and she is the girl I planned to get married to.” Ian said.
Izzy shakes her head. “Your story is sad.” She looked at Ethan “What about you?”
“Emm” He coughed and said firmly. “She was a talented person.”
“That’s all for you? I thought you knew her.” Izzy frowned.
“I did, I mean I was six and she drew apple for me and it was beautiful.” Izzy gave him that weird look and shakes her head. “Come on… that’s all I can say about the mysterious Zee.”
“I’m disappointed in you Ethan.” She said as she placed her hand over her face. “Really disappointed, no wonder you are dad’s favorite…”
“And what does that have to do with this convo?” Ethan asked.
“Hey, you two can’t fight. Remember we have a visitor and I’m in charge.” I got up from the couch. “If you need me, I will be in my room and make sure that you don’t break each other’s head.”
