I felt sad when Austen left the room as I sat in disbelief that such a beautiful man was really mine. Nothing this good has ever happened to me so I am waiting for the ball to drop. I am waiting for him to reject me.
‘He isn’t going to reject you,’ Genesis speaks up. ‘He is ours. Forever.’
‘But why me?’ I ask.
‘Why not you?’ She counters.
I sigh and pick at the rest of the food on the tray and stare at the TV. A different program is now on, so I absentmindedly watch it.
“Hey,” Elle walks into the room. “How is it going?”
“Okay,” I shrug.
“Oh, you finished most of it,” she looks at the tray. “I’ll take it."
“Can I go outside?” I ask. “I just want to sit in the sun.”
