Aiden's POV
Steve and I are pretty much exhausted from the long run. Steve wanted to run and I didn't stop. He took nearly two hours just running and running around the woods.
"Is she really the one?" Steve whispers as he take heavy breaths.
I stare at the sky. Sunny but the wind is slowly getting chilly. Winter is approaching. The fog covers the pretty skies and I'm not ready for it.
"I don't know" I answer back.
Steve takes time. As he stares at the sky as well. Steve and I love watching skies but I love to stare at the sky when it's all bright and colourful while Steve loves the night skies.
I would give him control at midnight once in a while because he loves laying on the soft grass and just stare at night sky. The stars, the moon and sometimes if we're lucky enough, we get to see a shooting star.
Does Deepika love watching skies too?
Woah woah there!!! What am I even thinking? Why did she just make her way into my thoughts?
"And you say she's not the one?" Steve butts in.
I just lay for few more moments in dilemma. Could she be the one? Then my hand makes its way to my jeans pocket and takes Nadia's chain out.
No one except her.
I walk back to the Bloodmoon Pack house. I just stand at the main entrance where I can still see people. Everyone looks so happy. So content. My dad. Even my father is smiling. Was she really that sweet?
"Welcome back Mr. Not single anymore" Carl yells at me.
I just give him a small smile because I don't want to be harsh and disappoint my father. He trusts me a lot, enough to voluntarily give me the title instead of the title combat. Carl and King Derek Malloy had a title combat where King Derek put up a very tough fight but still gave it to Carl at the end.
"Finally!!" Leah comes as well.
"I don't like how your smile becomes wider because of Leah" Carl whispers as he glares.
I laugh as I smile at Leah. She asks me if I need some ice cream because Queen Mia made some using her powers. Just wow. My family is equally fierce and crazy.
I nod my head and she just hops back again and runs to the kitchen where all the women gathered laughing as they eat their ice creams.
Carl and I walk towards the men and for the first time, Luke seems like he is actually interested in the conversation. Never was he this way. Ella already changed him a lot and I would love to see more of whatever this is.
I sit across my father and beside Carl. Betty and Aaron informs me that they'll be there by tomorrow. They are now living in Italy. Soon King Jaxon and Queen Mia will move to another place as well. We can't get noticed by humans. And humans can be really nosy sometimes.
"That girl is so sweet" King Derek whispers.
I just smile. I just nod. I just sit there.
"She's a tad bit confused but she's a human. So justified" Uncle Zenon adds.
I just look at my father sitting on the chair across. He throws a smile at me and I return one to him.
"What do you think of her?" King Jaxon asks for the first time.
I smile at him. How do I tell these people that I don't like her. That I don't want her. She might be a good sweet girl. But not meant for me. My heart then and now only belongs to Nadia. I just can't imagine anyone else in her place.
"Listen son," dad pauses as he leans forward.
But then stops when Leah walks in and hands me a bowl of chocolate ice cream. I smile again as I take it. I smile a lot because.. well, that is how I can mask the pain in my heart.
"Your mother was a human too. If that's what is stopping you" Dad whispers.
All our heads turn towards him.
I try my best to find my voice and I terribly fail.
"W-what?" I stutter.
He just smiles as he stands up, walks towards me and sit beside me. Basically Carl and Dad trade their places.
Dad then looks at me with soft eyes. Those eyes I only saw once till now. Which is right now.
"I am your father" he whispers again with another soft smile, reminding me that he can see through me.
This time, I am desperate. I am desperate in finding my voice. Where is it when I need it the most?
So I just nod.
"I'm not rushing you to accept her. But try to know her. It's not her fault that she's your mate. So she doesn't deserve your rejection at the very first meet" Dad says again.
And I nod again.
It's all silent till Carl clears his throat.
"To lighten the vibe... Aiden... I'm getting married tomorrow" He squeals.
My eyes go wide. Wedding?? Werewolves don't usually do that, do they?
"Wow" I mutter as I stand up to hug him.
"Thanks to Deepika" Carl whispers as we hug.
"What?" I am a confused mess right now.
I look around and they are already looking at Carl. Probably giving him a chance to explain? Makes sense because explanation is indeed needed to whatever is happening right now.
"She is not familiar with werewolf world. So she doesn't know Queen Ceremony or Luna Ceremony. For her, to simplify it.. Grandma decided on the wedding" Carl says.
"Because of her?" I ask the men around me with confusion.
"She is our family now, Aiden" King Derek whispers.
I stand still.
I have no words.
She is already regarded as family. The whole wedding is now happening because of her.
That also means she will attend it tomorrow! What do I do? Do I reject her? But she doesn't know the whole concept of werewolf existence. Will the rejection even show any effect on her?
"Don't even think about rejection" King Jaxon's voice is all stern.
I look at him and sure enough, his face is all serious.
"I guess your father, I and everyone around you told, taught and preached that mates are sacred. Don't you dare do anything against Moon Goddess's will" He speaks again.
I just stand silent again. I indeed heard about mates being sacred since childhood.
"You don't have to accept her already. But just consider giving her a chance. Stand in her shoes." Dad whispers.
I stand silent again.
Should I consider? Should I stand in her shoes? What am I gonna find if I stand??
Even in her point of view I can't imagine a human who is fine with knowing a werewolf let alone being her mate!
On the other hand my mother, Lana .. these two figures proved that race is nothing when the bond is true.
My mind is a mess now. A whole mess.
"I'll try" I whisper and walk to my room.
I spot Layla just stare at me as I approach my room. Her room is opposite mine.
"Just think of hurting her and I will forget you are a part of my family" she mindlinks me.
I stare at her as she stares at me. I am the first to break the stare contest this time and turn around. I roll my eyes as I unlock my door.
I sit on my bed and stare into nothing. I am nothing but a mass made of confusion and irritation. Confused because I have zero idea on how to handle this. My family already welcomed her with warm hugs and it'll be so bad if I reject her anytime sooner.
Irritated because I can't really replace Nadia. Not just replace .. I can't even imagine anyone else. Aiden Malloy belongs only and only to Nadia.
It isn't even night yet and somehow I slowly doze off and eventually fall asleep.
Weird.
Weird as heck!
And then,
I wake up with another jolt.
I look around.
It's now night and if my guess is right, it's right about dinner time.
But what woke me up from my sleep?
I saw my second chance mate.
Dressed in Navy Blue dress that reaches till her ankles. The dress is all plain except for a Silver flower it has just on the left side of her waist. Her hair in a neat bun. Her silver earrings. Her smile so wide.
Her smile so radiant.
Her smile so pure.
I wonder how she is gonna show up tomorrow for the 'wedding' .
Wait! Am I waiting for her now? Just great!! I found her like what? Today morning and Moon Goddess is already throwing signs and thoughts of her.
My family is happy about her too. But they don't know what's coming on the way. I can't and won't reject her. Also, doesn't mean I will accept and live with her.
You all just gotta wait and see!
