Charles’s behavior was far too obvious, far too direct. Gabriel had also seen how much Anna was affecting him. Annabelle had never seen Charles so emotionally impacted, to the point where he needed to smoke to regain control. This only highlighted just how much Anna’s presence disturbed him.
The strong sense of unease coursing through Annabelle made her fists clench, the veins on her hands bulging, revealing her internal turmoil.
Gabriel, sitting nearby, noticed Annabelle’s tense demeanor. He frowned slightly, clearly uncomfortable being in the same space as her. He stood up with an excuse, "I'm going to check on Charles. You all continue."
