Tension pulsed through the room, the delicious food all but forgotten, only half-eaten on the plates. Ulric’s fingers clenched around his fork. The stench of suspicion and dread flooded the air enough to make his sensitive nose twitch and a growl built in his chest. He tasted his own blood from where his fang accidentally nipped his lip.
