I sighed and rolled my body to the side, staring into the dim room from the soft bed and feeling Neil’s arm draped around my waist.
It was just a little past midnight and the events of the day had taken a toll on me. I felt so tense and uneasy even as I lay on this soft, large bed. I sighed again and shifted. I just couldn’t relax.
Carefully, I sat up, moving Neil’s arm away from my waist. He was fast asleep, his face buried in the pillow with his blond hair ruffled. Careful not to wake him, I slipped out of bed and padded over to my dresser where I left my phone. Tucking in my soft curls away from my face, I ran my thumb over the screen, its light illuminating my face.
I checked the text I had sent to Adonis.
There was still no reply.
