Leilani Chase tugged on his leash as he lurched forward, nearly knocking me off balance, barking deeply and threateningly at some teenage boys who were busy ogling me from across the street. They jolted, startled by Chase’s aggressiveness. They started talking among themselves, increasing their pace while stealing glances at Chase who was still barking at them, his entire body rippling with deadly intent. “Easy boy,” I said but my voice was drowned by his barking. “Chase!” I called louder, nudging him forward.
