Chapter 3 When Crevyn next opened his eyes, it was morning. Peering cautiously around, Crevyn listened for any sounds that would indicate Garvit was nearby. But there was nothing save the musical sound of the gentle waterfall, the trill of birds, and the drone of insects flying by. With a stretch, Crevyn sat up. Finishing the last of his bread and cheese, he stowed away his blanket in his pack and set out to return to the college. He strolled along the tree-lined avenue back to the fairy ring. Once inside, Crevyn waited to be transported back. The same motes danced around him as before and when he looked again, he was back in the old forest. Once outside the ring, Crevyn turned around to face it. “Thank you.” He bowed, then, at a fast pace, began the last part of his journey home. With
