“Ormr, it's been a bit,” Maximus said, as he greeted one of the wolves. The wolf seemed to greet him back, with a dip of his head. Its eyes snapped back to watch me as Maximus tried to play it cool, cautiously walking in front of me. Trying and failing not to make a deal out of it. The wolf was obviously aware as it narrowed its eyes. I watched in horror as the wolf directly in front stood on two legs, its limbs growing straighter as it shifted into a human man. He was almost as large as Maximus.
With a thud the wolf's skin fell to the ground in a steaming pile of waste. The fur was wet and reeked of rotting flesh. I tried not to throw up at the smell as I looked at Nora, who seemed un fazed.
