Zoey
He was doing a great job at practicing with the kids. And they seemed to like him. I was looking from the sidelines, and seeing him take over the practice was a big accomplishment. He was born to do this. But I wondered, if he loved this, why did he choose to be an architect?
"Well, boys. You have worked hard today, so I will let you all go early to your next class," he said and they ran to the locker room right away to shower and change.
"How was your first day as a coach?" I asked. I couldn't help but notice a big smile on his face.
"I really liked it. It really made me productive, like I am helping someone"
"But you are helping someone as an architect. Building that school is a big deal" I said, not realizing the words came out bitter "I am sorry. I guess even though I agreed with your plans, I still sound like I hate the idea"
"No worries. It is normal to feel that way. Why don't I invite you for coffee? Maybe Saturday?"
"Are you asking me out, Mr. Bradford?" I teased him, and I could see him blush. Interesting.
"Please call me Sebastian. And yes, I am asking you out. Martha will be there too so you don't think it's a date" he replied, making me laugh at how nervous he was getting.
"Sure, I can do Saturday. Just tell me the time and place and we can meet there" I gave him my phone number and he saved it right away.
We walked into the locker rooms and I headed to the office to get some paperwork ready and schedule the next practice. I showed Sebastian everything he needed to know while the kids finished changing. I closed the blinds and the door in the office to give them privacy, but being stuck inside with Sebastian was making the temperature in the room rise.
He leaned down, next to my face to see the computer screen. "These are the schedules and this are the teams they will be facing when the season starts. All you need to know is right here, and I will leave the username and password so you can access it easily"
"You are not going to be working with me?" he asked.
"I will. But you will need to learn these things in case I am stuck in a class or anything else comes up. I can get busy and not have time to come down here"
He nodded in understanding, and I shut the computer off. I was about to leave the office, but his body was pressed against mine, not letting me get through.
"Sebastian, I need to go to my classroom" I said nervously. He was about to step aside, when my feet got stuck in the rug and I fell in his arms. We looked at each other and I couldn't get over the fact that I was falling for those eyes. Before I knew it, I reached for him and pressed my lips against his.
He responded back and we were lost in the moment. When I came to my senses, I pulled back and covered my mouth in embarrassment.
"I am so sorry, I don't know what came over me. That was highly inappropriate and I apologize"
He let out a chuckle, and that sound made me want him more. I shook my head and left the office, feeling ashamed for doing that. It is all his fault for being so sexy and kind. Two traits that should not go together, but with him, God made an exception.
I walked into my office and my students were already waiting for me, but I was out of sorts. I sat in my chair, my thoughts taking me to Sebastian and that kiss. I didn't realize I had spaced out until Gary was in front of me, snapping his fingers and trying to take me out of the trance.
"Miss Torres, you spaced out for a moment" he said, and all I could do was laugh.
"I am fine, Gary. Just a lot on my mind" I said, hiding the fact that I kissed the coach, and worst of all, someone I just met. It made me laugh at the thought of that movie where the guy scolds the girl for getting engaged to someone she just met.
I took a deep breath and decided to start my class. But first I handed the tests with the results to them. I approached Gary and handed him his test, "Good job, you got an almost perfect score. I knew you could do it"
"It was all thanks to you and your help, Miss Torres"
"No, it was you not giving up. I am proud of you"
The end of the school day was finally here and all the students were heading out, but Martha decided to stay behind and walked towards my desk.
"Did my brother ask you out yet?" she asked, making me look at her, confused.
"You knew about it?"
"Of course. My brother was telling me last night when you left. I was still awake and could hear your conversation, so as soon as he closed the door, he told me the idea of going out, all three of us together," she said, showing excitement.
"Yes, he asked me. I will join you both for coffee and lunch on Saturday. It should be fun" I replied. She squealed and walked to me, surprising me with a big hug before she walked out.
I picked my things up and headed out to my car, when I received a call from my mom.
"Hello, mom. How are you?" I answered.
"Hello, sweetheart, I was just calling you to see if you are coming later for dinner. Your dad made your favorite" she said, making me laugh. That's how she got me. Dad preparing Rice and Beans with fried chicken was a trap, and I was always falling for it.
"Yes, mom. I will be there soon. See you later, love you" I hung up and drove to my house to get changed for dinner at my parent's house. My mind took me back again to that kiss, and I hoped I didn't show this face in front of my parents or else they won't stop asking me about it.
