Nathan Rivera's POV
"I hope you don't mind this." He said as he was leaning his head back on the chair that was on my right, against the wall. He looked older than the last time I met him.
He had silver hair showing, wrinkles on his face and his hands often shaking, but other than that, he still looked fine.
"I don't. You have been the father to me and I can't ask for more." I spoke looking down at my patient’s file. I kept turning pages as he kept quiet.
"Please do take care of her." He pleaded. "I was not there most of my life for her and she must hate me. She is my angel." I looked up to see his eyes begging as he forced to keep the tears from overflowing his eyes.
"Neither have I seen her nor do I know her but I assure you that she'll forgive you and I promise to never hurt her." I said with a smile as he took a deep breath and patted my shoulder, getting up from his chair.
"You have grown up just like your father, understanding and so kind. I don’t doubt you but I just get worried about her." He said as I smile at the memory of my father.
I missed him.
He taught me everything that I know of and I wished so badly for him to be here with us.
"I really wish he was here to see his son finally getting married tomorrow." He laughed and I slowly shook my head at him with a smile.
Marriage was the last thing on my mind but now that I met Sean after a long time and him offering a proposal to me, I couldn't reject it. I couldn't refuse someone's request who was like a father figure to me since I lost mine. I mean, I won't be a bachelor my whole life I suppose.
"I should get going now," he placed his hand on my shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze. "I won't be able to see you for a few months because I'm going to California. But once I come back, I'll make sure to visit you. Take care of her, Nathan."
I got up and stood in front of him as he spoke. I nodded at him as he embraced me in a hug. I pat his back as he let go and slowly left. I knew nothing of what all was about to go down!
Who was she and why was he too protective over her? Why was he not living with his own daughter? I knew nothing but I still said yes.
And I don't know why.
*******
She stood there, still and her head lowered. Not once did I see her eyes. Her hands were crumpled together as she fidgeted with her fingers. Her long hair blowing around her face, making a veil.
"Stop drooling, you can have her for later." My friend Derek teased as my sister snickered. I turned towards him and glared at him and he winked at me in return.
"You almost shitted you pants at your wedding," I snapped. "Don't be such a dork." This time he glared at me as his wife Valeria and my sister Bella burst into laughter, making my lawyer clear his throat and eye us.
We were all standing in my lawyer's room for a court marriage. I decided a court marriage to be the most sensible option for two reasons. One, I didn't have much of friends or family, and second, I didn't even know who she was and what she wanted. Even her mother didn't talk much, silent as she stood beside her daughter.
"Okay let the ceremony begin." The lawyer began and had us sign some engagement paper and after putting on the rings, we were ready to go.
Bella and Valerie were excited for all this and they wanted to throw a party, but I declined and they insisted that they could decorate my house at least where I lived alone. They only decorated the master bedroom because it would be hard to take off the decorations if they started to decorate the entire house.
"Well, since this is traditional, now you may kiss the bride." The lawyer said as I looked up at the girl to see her still with her head lowered. I looked over at her mother and spoke.
"If you are fine with it?"
"She is your wife," She smiled at me, her eyes blank of any emotion. "You don't have to ask me."
I slowly nodded as I took a small step towards her. We didn't even make any contact and she was trembling. I didn't know what to feel.
She was shaking, why? Was she afraid of something? What frightened her? If it was another girl here with me, she would look up slowly or even blush but no. She was so quiet and motionless as if she wasn't here at all.
"Hey." I whispered to her as she slowly and hesitantly looked up.
She was beautiful, no doubt if that. Her big round, glimmering black eyes, with her round cheeks and small chin gave her that baby face which I found so adorable. Her hair fell over her face as I slowly leaned forward making her pull back a bit. My forehead rested against her as she took sharp breaths. The air blew her hair once again and it surrounded our faces, making it look like we were kissing. Her eyes were troubled and kept moving from my eyes to her fingers. I pulled back without giving her a kiss. She stepped back quickly as I heard clapping and 'congratulations' thrown at us. My eyes still trained on her as my lawyer gave me the papers.
Everyone left as my newly married wife Janet followed me to my car. I opened the passenger door for her as she climbed in with her head still lowered. I started my car, pulled out of the parking lot and drove straight to my house.
Silence.
Nothing, she said nothing.
We pulled into the driveway and I got over the other side to open the door for her. She walked out as I went at the back of the car to take out her luggage. She just has one bag and nothing else and that surprised me. She stood there and I kept staring at her as I strolled the bag and started to walk towards the main door. I pulled out the key of the house and kicked open the door and went straight to the bedroom. Like a lost puppy, she followed me. The room was fully decorated with red roses, with pearl white sheets.
It was so beautiful but I felt uncomfortable knowing that a strange girl was in my room, my wife exactly. I turned to the walk-in closet, took my coat off and hung it in. I came out to find Janet sitting at the edge of the bedroom, her hands on either side while her head was still down. I wanted to get to know her, maybe we could talk but the words that came out of her mouth stopped me.
"C-can I sleep here?" Her voice was soft and really quiet.
"Um... Yeah, you can." I answered, slightly confused as to what she meant by here. She slowly nodded and looked around at the floor. I went back to the closet and changed into my boxers and a white tank top. Walking out, I found her curled up in a fetal position, laying on my bed that was layered with red rose petals.
She didn't even change her clothes.
She was wearing a plain, white silked dress that had full sleeves and ended down her knees. She had tight white leggings below. I turned off the lights and went over the other side of the bed. As I sat on the edge, I stared at her. She was so simple yet elegant with only a lipstick coated on her lips. I still couldn't believe that I got myself a wife. Smiling at the thought, I pulled the sheets over the both of us. Being careful not to touch her, I rested my head on the soft pillow and closed my eyes, letting my mind think about my life with her.
I knew nothing about what was going to happen, I wasn't ready.

Author's note- I love how he is being careful with her when most dominant asshole guys would just take advantage of her naive self.
