I felt my body freeze as the question fell from Saoirse's lips. It was obvious from her tone and words that she had overheard a part of my meeting with Axureon. I wondered how much she heard. Her tone didn't sound angry. It was almost resigned.
I turned so I was facing her, looking down into her beautiful face. Her bright green eyes looked up at me with that fierce determination I'd come to love so much. She clearly wasn't afraid. Of course, she wasn't. She was the bravest person I had ever come to know.
