The council

1769 Words
Saturday came and we woke early, got breakfast and Damon went to work, he worked as a bails bondsman and I must say the job suited him pretty well. After breakfast I watched some TV it was good they got mortal channels on here so I was able to watch doctor who, my favourite show. It was 1:30pm, time to get ready, Damon wasn't back yet, but he had assured he would be home before me, his hours depended on when he was needed, this had been the third time he had gone to work since I'd known him. At 1:55 I blinked to the building that held Thomas's office, the council house, I blinked right in front of the unitaur statue, Thomas was already there, waiting for me, he smiled at me as soon as he saw me, "I'm glad you could make it" he seemed giddy "follow me" he suggested as he turned away from me and started walking, I was worried, wondering why he was excited, Damon and I had joked about this, remember the movies where the bully invites her victim to a party, then makes a fool out of her? Well that's how I felt, but non the less I followed him cautiously, whilst he took two steps I took one, I must of looked silly to onlookers, but I concluded that looking a little silly was better than walking into a trap that would cause a thousand water balloons to fall on my head. We came to a wooden door, Thomas opened the door to reveal a rectangle table with five chairs, we entered the room, Thomas kept the door open and once I had walked into the gloomy looking room, he signalled at one of the chairs, letting me know that's where I sat, I nodded in acknowledgement and went slowly to sit down, taking precautions, once I was satisfied I felt silly, I mean really silly, I had made it and no water had fallen on my head, I was starting to believe nothing of the sort would happen, but it was early, maybe the other members had planned to do something. A man blinked into the chair opposite mine, then another man blinked occupying the chair on my left, then another blinked in next to the man sitting opposite me, no pranks, Thomas stood at the head of the table towards my left "Welcome brothers to our weekly meetings, oh sorry, brothers and sister" he corrected looking at me the man with the brown hair, opposite me scoffed, I didn't know why, but Thomas ignored him and carried on "now I believe introductions are in order, this is Anastasia, the newest addition to the council" the brown haired man scoffed again, I squinted at him as if to say 'what's your problem?' The man just folded his arms, Thomas cleared his throat and once again began to speak "Anastasia, this is Gareth" he pointed to the man next to me, "this is Brandon" he pointed to the man sitting opposite me, and sitting next to him was William, the men all greeted me except Brandon. I realised then that my fellow flyer was sat next to me. "Its so nice to meet you, I'm Gareth, wait you already know that, how silly of me" the man had hold of my hand and he was shaking it vigorously as he spoke, I was looking to the others for help in making him let go, "That's enough Gareth, let the girl go" Thomas came to the rescue, go figure. I smiled in thankyou and he nodded in acknowledgement "Why is she even here? She doesn't belong here, you said it yourself, women have no place on the council, she needs to go" Brandon spoke, raising his voice, I slammed the table "She is right here, she can hear you, and she isn't going anywhere, got it?" I said, getting a little angry, he huffed but said nothing "Excellent, now that that's out of the way, let's get on with this meeting, William, let's start with you, anything to report?" Thomas asked "Well just a small complaint, some parents are complaining that the playground isn't safe and that we should get rid of the werewolves." William explained, to which Thomas huffed "Thanks for that, but we are not getting rid of the wares, next time these parents say anything, tell them if they are concerned they should leave the coven, the werewolves will not, and shall not be kicked out, anyone else?" "Yeah, how about she leaves" I'll let you guess who said that, before I could say anything Thomas spoke "Well like I said before, Brandon, if you don't like the way things are, you should leave" without a word Brandon stood up, he shook his head at me, like this was my fault, and he started to walk towards the door I had used to walk in I looked from Brandon to Thomas, but neither man would back down and I would probably spend the rest of eternity blaming myself for this so without thinking I spoke "Oh Brandon, sit down, you're not going anywhere" I stood up, Brandon, for some reason sat on the floor, right there next to the door "Dont be stupid Brandon, sit in the chair" Thomas sounded bored "I can't, I can't move, what the hell?" "Stop playing games Brandon" "I'm not, she did something, I can't move" "Wait, Brandon, get up, and come sit in your chair" I said, Brandon stood and came sat in the chair "Did you compel him?" Thomas asked, I shook my head no "That wasn't compulsion, that was something else" Brandon explained "it's like, my mind was screaming at me, telling me to stop, but my body wanted to do what she commanded, it was weird" "Comand?, You commanded him?" Thomas seemed angry "No, I didn't, I didn't mean to, I didn't know we could do that" "That's because we can't" William told me, "we can compel, but only those who are not witches, or those that are beneath us, like, Thomas can compel us, but we cannot compel each other, we can compel others in the coven, but they can't compel us, or anyone else, it depends on your status, this, this is something else, something unseen" "Yes it is, I thought your traits were to break bones and fly, it is impossible to have more than two" Thomas seemed to be deep in thought, and I also started to think, my prophecy seemed to make more sense now, 'you shall have more power' it had said, is this what it meant? I looked at Thomas, could I trust him? He knew my parent's prophecy, but he didn't know mine, could I tell him? "What are you?" Brandon asked, out of the blue "you don't belong here" "Brandon" Thomas warned "I mean, you're so much more powerful, why are you here?" I had no answer to Brandon's question so I stayed quiet fiddling with my fingers. I felt a presence walking towards the room "Who's that? She's beautiful" I asked, the men looked to one another, and shrugged, "We don't see anyone around" Thomas said slowly "Well of course not, shes not here, she's on her way, can't you guys sense her?" The men shook their heads, my shoulders fell "another trait?" I asked, already knowing the answer "What does she look like?" Thomas asked, I closed my eyes to get a better picture "Shes wearing a white dress with red hearts" "Her hair?" I heard Thomas "Erm, blond, and, oooh, nice blue highlights" I opened my eyes as I heard a knock on the door "Come in Charlotte" Thomas said through gritted teeth, he was now standing with his fists on the table. The door opened "How did you know it was me?" The woman, Charlotte, asked, as she walked in with a plastic bag. Thomas looked at me, then at the woman "You're early, our meeting has not ended yet" Thomas told her, not answering her question "Oh, I'm sorry, I'll come back later" "How did you know?" His question was menacing "I, I don't know, I thought all witches could....." before I could finish, Thomas punched the table, cracking it in half, making me jump "NO, NO NOT ALL WITCHES CAN" he came to me now, "no witch has ever been able to do that, so why can you?" The question, it seemed, wasn't for me so instead of answering... "Back off, and go sit down, please Thomas" Thomas did as I asked, no as I commanded. He scoffed as he sat down, he looked at William, then at me. "You can do things, other witches cannot, why?" He sounded so defeated "I don't know Thomas, maybe my prophecy has something to do with it" I shrugged, sitting down at the broken table, "can this be fixed,? With magic, I mean" Thomas shrugged, "Yeah, we'll find someone" he said sounding lost "unless you want to try" I shook my head, to which he nodded "fine, I call this meeting to an end, I'll see you all next week, same time" without another word he blinked out of there, and one by one the others followed suit, I looked at the table, lying there in two pieces, could I fix it? Could I posses that kind of power? I put my hands on the table, and closed my eyes, willing it to fix, but at the same time hoping it wouldn't, when I opened my eyes the table was still broken, I smiled thankfully, then I also blinked home. "Hey, how was your first meeting? Did they hurt you? Wet you? Egg you?" Damon stood up to greet me holding me at arms length then walking around me as he asked these questions, I followed him with my eyes "No they did nothing of the sort, although there is one guy that doesn't like me the others are ok" I shrugged "and the meeting was.... educational" I nodded, at the lack of a better word, Damon raised an eyebrow as if asking me to elaborate, I just shook my head and told him I needed a drink, I sat down whilst he got me one, and got one for himself, I then explained what went on at the meeting, I left nothing out, Damon listened and said nothing in between, asked no questions, he would nod every now and then, but nothing else. He was sexy when he was deep in thought. Ok next chapter up, enjoy
