Heat doesn't end that fast

Vivian Stepping outside, I clicked the button to call the front desk and for the man to arrive for me. As I was standing there, I had to fight all the urge to go back to the silver-haired fox. It went against my nature to leave the others in the midst of their heat, but... but I couldn't stay. Not only because I had to sing in at the royal academy, but also because we did not use protection. Shit, I was so stupid... It is extremely likely to get pregnant during heat, even if I am not the one in heat... s**t, I have to stop by the pharmacy and get plan B. Yet another stupid decision on my part, and I can only blame myself for being so stupid. Not sure why, but over the last few days all the self-control that I pried myself upon magically faded away, and I am left with the chaos of all this s**t. My misery was interrupted by the arrival of the center worker that brought me in before. "I hope you had a pleasant time with your mate, miss Cliffwind." The knowing smile on his face told me that he was well aware of what had happened. "You know what you did was against the law? You left a hybrid in heat with a stranger. He could have been hurt or, even worse, forced to mate without consent." Anger started to boil in my veins as the wolf's temper started to rise in me. What he did was inexcusable. There are strict rules regarding someone in heat. The most important one is that the person can not be left alone with a stranger that could take advantage of them. There were multiple stories when one side of the other gets mated without consent after being taken advantage of while they were in heat. When in heat, our minds go off the rails, and we do crazy stuff, like letting complete strangers f**k you or maybe a friend that wants to be more than a friend suggest s*x, and you end up mating to them in the process. After the heat of the moment, you are left with a person that you do not want and cannot stand. In this situation, you can break the bond, but it is very painful and very expensive. Only a few can afford or survive a procedure like this. But at the end of the day, most of this responsibility falls on the shoulders of the person in heat to prepare for this in advance, but by law any and all should help a hybrid in need at moments like this. "You could have given me a heads-up before I entered." I could barely contain the growl in my chest. "I will make sure that everyone will know what you did." These words were more of a growl, and it made the man in front of me go completely pale. "Miss..." I lifted my hand to stop his pathetic plea. "Stop it, I do not care for your excuses. Gods only knows how many more people you have led to be mated under the influence of the heat. Now lead me out of here, before I do something a lot worse than ruin your reputation." The man swallowed as his weasel ears popped out. He knew better than to speak again as he made a little nod and led me out of the corridor and away from the silver-haired fox. Gods, it was hard to leave him there, but he should be safe here. As the weasel hybrid led me through the maze of corridors, I wrote a complaint with a note about the fox hybrid in heat that I left in the room, making sure that they took care of him if they did not want to face the raft of the Cliffwinds. The moment the doors to the lobby opened in front of me, I pushed past the weasel hybrid and walked out, still too angry about the careless way they treated the silver-haired fox. I stormed out of the building, ignoring the questions from the receptionist, because I was sure that if I stopped even for a moment I would lose the little control I had right now and tear this place apart. I almost ran out and rushed in the direction of the academy, hoping that the distraction would keep the rage that was lit in me at bay. To my luck, I made it to the reception with ten minutes to spare till closing time. Even with the reception time closing soon, it was still with people. It was mostly families, wishing their children a happy year and spending the few moments they had left together. In my first year, the whole Cliffwind family was here to see me off. John asked for time off for his military service, but I am sure that he would be here today if he hadn't been away on a mission to catch some thief all the way across the galaxy. And others, as we can see, were not here, not that I expected Father to be here. It was a surprise to him here the first time. I knew that mother was not going to attend this, because she said it to me a few weeks back, but I still hoped that she had changed her mind... but it is clear she didn't. She said that Margaret was really sad that she had not passed the exams to attend the academy, and she wanted to be there for her on the day when she was supposed to have started her academy life. I, of course, said that I understood that it was important, and it was okay, but I hid the fact it hurt my feelings. Brushing off the hurt feelings, I had no time or business to have, as I crossed the reception area. The front desk lady greeted me with a smile as she already recognized me. "Great to see you, miss Vivian. Here are the forms. For a moment, I was worried that you wouldn't make it on time." "Sorry, I had some... urgent business to take care of." The receptionist sent me a kind smile as her eyes landed on my neck and a light blush crept into her cheeks. Hell, I forgot to cover the mark he left on my neck. "I see... I'm sure that it was quite important business." She said with a light chuckle. My own cheeks were burning red as I signed the papers. I handed the signed papers back to the lady as her eyes caught on something behind my back. "Ummm... I think your urgent business is here..." Confused, I turned back and saw the silver-haired fox moving in my direction with a lost puppy look on his face. "s**t, what is he doing here?" I murmured to myself. When he saw me, the look on his face changed, and he ran to me. A second later, he was next to me. His hands wrapped around me as he buried his face in my neck. "Darling, I finally found you..." He whispered quietly, and I knew that I was the only one that could hear what he said. "Well, this is all I need from you. You can come by when you have time to collect your class schedule and I will send all the additional data over..." She stopped speaking as she sniffed the air... "Is... is he in heat?" Feeling a bit helpless and very overprotective over him, I wrapped a protective hand around him. "Yes..." "Okay... why don't I escort you to your room, so you can take care of him..." She said, looking a bit panicked, because she was sure what sort of mess would start the moment others realized that an unmated hybrid was in the middle of a public space. "Thank you." I whispered to the older woman as she led us out through the back entrance and straight to the student housing. The moment we were outside, I could clearly see how her body relaxed. With her help, we reached my dorm room with no incident. She left us at my door with a kind, knowing smile on her face. Carefully, I led the silver-haired fox into my room. Okay... we are here... we are safe, because every room had extra protection, so our scent could not escape the rooms and the doors were reinforced... but there was still a question about what to do now.
