Onward by Balloon
Valentina was asleep almost at once. But it felt like she was awake again just as quickly. Someone’s hand was firmly squeezing her shoulder. She opened her eyes to find Hazel kneeling between her and Kiyoshi, and while she was touching Valentina to wake her the rest of her attention was on Kiyoshi, who was sitting up. Hazel put a finger to her lips and slipped back out of the room.
Valentina and Kiyoshi exchanged a glance, then crept after her. She was already outside, crossing the dusty open space to the gatehouse they had come in from just a few hours before. Hazel only stopped and turned to them when she reached the locker room.
“What do you say we get out of here now?” Hazel asked, crossing her arms and tipping her head, her ponytails swinging.
