VALENTINA!” Valentina didn’t see the point of opening her eyes; the world was the same inscrutable blackness with or without her eyelids in the way, so what did it matter? Then her eyelids shone red and she realized Kiyoshi was looking right at her, his headlamp shining through her faceplate. “What?” she snapped grumpily, pushing him away so he’d stop blinding her. She was seeing spots now, which at least was more interesting than total blackness. “Get up!” Kiyoshi commanded and Valentina saw she was lying on the ground, arm tucked under her helmet like a child going to sleep.
