Chapter Eight

ADRIAN I swear I couldn't exactly explain to myself what had gotten into me, or why I had gotten a hardon from carrying a woman as pompous as Cara, up the stairs. But the feel of her against me was.....fucking fire. Leander came in, followed by Theo. I frowned as I had just been about to leave the house to go back to the office after giving instructions to the housekeeper. "I didn't know you guys were coming here." I said, still adjusting the shirt I had changed into. I had been so sweaty that I had used the opportunity to jump into the shower. Theo shrugged and walked over to the bar in the dining area. "Yeah, well, we decided to come see you, and the very famous Cara, who had got your panties in a twist." he commented, whipping out a glass and turning to signal Leander to know if he wanted some. Of course he did. He wasted no time joining him at the bar. "What the hell are you talking about, Theo. She hasn't gotten my panties in a twist, and I certainly don't wear panties." I defended myself as I rolled up the sleeves if the shirt I was wearing and reluctantly joined them, even if they did not invite me. Leander handed a glass of tequila to me, and gestured around. "So, where is she?" he asked, looking around as of she was going to pop out and into our sight at anytime. I cringed as images of her doing just that, popped into my mind. "She's upstairs. Doing heaven knows what." I answered, pointing my glass towards the room she was. Flora, my housekeeper, passed with a tray of food, and headed upstairs. My brothers teased her as she passed, causing a smile to form on her face. Flora was a middle aged woman, and had worked for me fir over five years. And in those five years, I always wondered who she worked for as she seemed to be more fond of the twins than me. I rolled my eyes once again as she promised them some baked goodies, before disappearing from our sight. "But seriously, Adrian. When I advised you to try to please her, and settle with her, I didn't ask you to bring her to live in your house!" Learned shouted in a whisper, farting his gaze upstairs. "You don't need to rub it in my face. I don't even know why I did it." I tried defending myself, but they both have me wry gazes. "How long do you intend keeping her here then?" it was Theo who spoke this time, downing the shot of tequila in one gulp, and pushing the cup to the side. My gaze followed the movement as I sighed. "Until she gets better. The doctor said she should be up and doing in a few days...so..." I drawled and finally emptied my cup, pushing it to the side too. I wasn't much of a drinker, bit as the burning liquid burned it's way down my throat, I was glad I took it. I needed it. "From the picture we saw...she's a beautiful woman. And she's single too." Leander said, smiling sheepishly and looking straight at me. "What nonsense are you saying man? You and I know that I have had enough with these women. I don't even know her." Even as I spoke, I remembered how she smelled of cherry, which made me adjust a little as something began to stir in me. Leander was right. Cara was beautiful. But she had the personality of a bird. All she did was get me annoyed, since she opened her eyes on that hospital bed, making me regret staying back at the hospital. But...there was no way I was going to let my brothers see any of that. "Let's leave. I don't want to be here." I said, grabbing my car keys before looking at it, and giving it a second thought. I didn't want to drive. Not after the accident that occurred earlier. I tossed it back and followed Theo to his car.We got in, and drove off. But there was one thing that clouded my mind, even as my brothers chatted away with themselves. One person rather... Cara. CARA I woke up to the ringing of my phone. With sleepy eyes, I reached for it, and grabbed it off the nightstand to see who it was calling me. Richardson. I blinked and checked the time on my phone. 8:00pm. Why was he calling at this hour? Especially when he had just semi-fired me. I tapped on the green icon and held the phone to my ear as I used my other hand to pinch the bridge of my nose. I needed my meds. "Hello? Sir!" I said, adjusting the phone so I could hear him better. "Hi Ellison, I know I shouldn't be calling at this hour, but I need your help." his voice sounded like he was genuinely in distress. I tried to sit up, but the pain was too much. "Really? What's going on? Did anything happen at the company?" I asked, nervous all of a sudden. "Calm down Ellison. I need your help in helping me book a reservation in that hotel you took me to, the last time we had a business meeting." the confidence with which he said it almost made me toss my phone away in annoyance. To think I thought it was something important. "Fine. I will so that." I answered, bottling up the torrent of emotions I was feeling. As angry as I was, he was still my boss. Well...my maybe-boss. "Good. I knew you wouldn't fail me. I need a reservation for tomorrow, by seven pm. A table for two." and before I could even say anything else, Gabriel hung up on me. I brought the phone down and sucked on my bottom lip. I was in no way, shape or form, his personal assistant. But it was Gabriel's normal way, to send everyone on errands at his will. Sighing, I opened my phone again and logged onto the restaurant's website.
