Chapter Six

1007 Words
ADRIAN I kicked the wall in anger as I stormed outside, cursing furiously inside of me. Who the hell did she think she was, threatening me like that? She wanted to sue me! The hell she was! I began to sweat, and to relieve myself a little, I pulled at the toe on my neck, loosening it. The last thing I needed now was another lawsuit. I had barely gone out of the last one. I fished out my phone and called Leander. He picked on the first ring. "Adrian. We've been waiting for feedback. How is she?" he asked, sounding worried. I hissed, and waited until a nurse passed before I spoke again. "She's awake, Leander. But she's threatening to sue me." I bit out, feeling fresh anger consume me. "What? You have to offer her something. Anything. The last thing we need is for you to be slapped all over the newspapers and media, again." he said. The tone in his voice mirrored mine. "I swear, I should have just dropped her off in the hospital and went on my way. This is the result of trying to be a gentleman." I said. I felt like crap. I was hot, tired, and needed to just lay down and rest my head. I had had enough. "Well...I'm glad she's okay, Adrian. But you have to go in there and make an offer she can't refuse. I'm sure she knows who you are. she'll come around." With the stubbornness I saw in those eyes of hers, I wasn't sure Leander's idea was going to work. But I could try, anyway. I stayed outside, talking to my brother as we switched to other matters, and once the nurse attending to her was out, I slipped back into the room and stood at the foot of her bed. "Half a million dollars, and a very exquisite penthouse in one of my buildings." I said, the moment she turned to look at me. I didn't know what compelled me to say it like that, but there was no going back. It was out. I just hoped she took it. Cara opened her mouth in shock as she stared back at me with wide eyes. I raised a brow, silently urging her to speak. But when she did, it wasn't what I wanted to hear. "Excuse me? So you want to buy my silence? Do I look that cheap to you?" she asked, raking her eyes over me with disdain. Oh lawd... "I can double it, Cara. You would recieve your money, and we would both go our separate ways and forget that this ever happened." I told her. At this point, u had my heart in my mouth. What was I going to tell my parents when they found out that I had almost run someone over with my car. My mother would be especially mad. "Adrian, I'm in this hospital bed because of you. The least you could do is take care of me." her voice was snarling, which was so f*****g annoying. "I have paid off your bills, Cara. I can even hire a help that would help you on your way to recovery. That is no big deal at all." Before I could eben finish speaking, she was shaking her head in disagreement. "What the hell do you want, woman?" I bellowed, allowing the frustration I was feeling to show. Cara shrugged and used her free hand to play with her sheets. "Adrian Nikalauo..." she drawled, not even looking at me. "If you don't want your name smeared over the tabloids for reckless behavior, then let me move in with you. There is no way I can be on my own now." As soon as the nonsense she was spitting out, left her mouth, she smiled at me. Gosh...she was beautiful....but crazy if she thought I was going to let her do what she was asking. "You must be out of your mind if you think you can blackmail me like that. I could sue you for blackmail, you know." I spat harshly, but it didn't seem to faze her. Instead, she gave me a 'duh' look. "Go ahead. I'm the one in the hospital bed." she said confidently, and winked at me. Something weird passed through me, but I paid no attention to it. CARA I was playing with fire. And I knew I was going to get burned big time. I needed to be close to him, and I was willing to try every means possible. Even if it meant looking like a desperate i***t, I didn't mind. My request sounded so childish and completely out of the blue, but I hoped it worked. Adrian looked like he was having a hard time, with his clothes askew, and a permanent frown attached to his face. But then, he was f*****g handsome. Too handsome for his own good. And those lips...jeez.. "Fine." he said, after a moment of silence.a silence which was surprisingly not awkward. I raised a brow at him, needing him to say more than 'fine'. So I could know whether to calm my heart which had begun accelerating all on its own at the very possibility that Adrian Nikalauo, had agreed for me to move in with him. "Stop looking at me like that, woman! You heard me. I'm not going to repeat myself. I will go and inquire about when you will be discharged, and then I would send someone to come pick you up." he said, and began adjusting his clothes. I shook my head and plastered a sly smile on my face as I prepared to stretch my limits again. "No, that won't do. I would prefer of you pick me up yourself." I stated, and waited for his reaction. He had had his face down before, as he tried to adjust his shirt. But the moment I said d those words, his head whipped up so fast that I feared he was going to sprain his neck. "What?" Hah!
