-Selene- I stood in the empty room where Cecilia had stayed, having just said goodbye to her downstairs. She had given me a knowing look when I didn’t return the book and, as we shook hands, she wished me good luck instead of me wishing it to her. It was a bit odd, but everything had been strange since last fall when I mated with Valerio. Nothing had been the same since then, but I hoped that would soon change. I spent most of the day finishing the book and catching up on as much work as I could. I even left a few notes for Isabella about tasks that needed to be done, but I provided no explanation about my whereabouts. I had made a promise, and I intended to keep it. Besides, if I didn’t find anything, I would avoid the embarrassment of returning empty-handed. I left around six, took on
