I wasn’t sure if I was angry, upset, or just fed up with this stupid world. I understood what Selene had tried to do, but I just wasn’t her. I wasn’t the queen, Lily, Isabella, or even my sister. I was just me.
“Madeleine!”
“Didn’t I tell you I hate that name?” I shouted. “Why are you even following me? Leave me alone!”
“Madeleine, stop!” His voice made my feet stop on their own, and I looked down at them, confused. How had he done that? I couldn’t move if I wanted to.
I turned and saw Evan appearing between two trees, slowly circling me until we stood face to face. His intense dark eyes made me almost nervous. Had they grown darker somehow?
