6. Finding Ashley...

I was sat across from Damian discussing the plans for the pack and everything me and Ryder had talked about when Ryder's voice came through our Mate link:

"Babe... I am going with Ian to get Ashley right now!... I will link you when we are on our way back and I will bring her straight to the cottage. Ian will more than likely be with me so get Damian out the way... I will be a few hours. Don't tell him yet or he could be uncontrollable!"  I look at Damian and I am bursting to tell him what Ryder said, but then I realise he is right. How will he cope knowing his mate will be so close? If he declares her his mate in front of them, they will have time to attack, and someone could get hurt... I realise why he said to keep Ashley back from him till our parents, their guards and my shadows get here.

"OH, MY GODDESS! Well done babe... I will have everything she could possibly need in our room... I won’t tell him for now but I may have too later, Don't worry his wolf submits to mine remember. . Make sure you give me an hour to 30 minutes warning to get him gone... Be careful! I love you!" I start planning what she could need clothing wise and also what she will need to be healed from whatever state they find her in. I cannot imagine she will look good after being in there and abused in a way we will not even be able to grasp. Damian was so restless last night according to Mia and he only gets like that when something bad was happening to Ashley and he could feel that!

"Love you too and I will give as much warning as I can, Keep the link open and I will try and tell you what I see!"  I feel him close the link, but no block is placed up. I need to keep him busy for now, I need to keep Damian busy and distracted so he cannot focus on what Ryder is doing and if he is being successful or not in getting her here... The Golden Infinity Knot... I still need to tell him all about that, so he is prepared for when he marks and when he mates Ashley.

"Hey Damian, I also need to tell you something about our mates." I know that will get his attention.

"What's that snow?"

"We will be like mum and dad... After last night I woke up and this appeared." I show him the inside of my wrist. The Golden Infinity Knot!

"Can he tap into your powers too?" I can see he is full of curiosity now... Perfect distraction!

"Yeah... Although he didn't like how I got him to test if he could heal me or not! haha." I see the puzzled look on his face and remember what I did to Ryder, I laugh before telling him.

"We were having some breakfast upstairs about 7:30 and I took a knife and slashed my wrist, then told him how to tap into the healing... Which he did and he healed my wrist... He just asked that when I comes to learning other powers can we not do it by injuring me haha" I say the last point making my voice deep like Ryder's and try to pull off the look he had.

"Bet that scared the s**t out of him!... How was he when you told him our plan for the pack? ... About how we want to run things?" Damian laughed at my acting skills, Well lack of acting skills!

"Well, he was hesitant at first, Not about coming to the pack but about running it with us... Coz Ian had demanded his training for Alpha to be stopped because he feared that Ryder would try and overthrow him or something along the lines of that bullshit... But he thought about it for a few minutes and once I said you would help complete any training, he was lacking ... He was up for it with us." I am so happy about that... I don't know what we would have done if he didn't want that as I couldn't abandon my twin.

"I hope he realizes that his dad and brother will be dead after we are done here! There is no way we can leave them alive after all this!" I can hear the sadness for what Ryder will have to come to terms within Damian's voice but I also hear the concern that Ryder won’t be able to do what would be needed of him in future in concerns for his dad and brother.

"Yeah, I think he knows that... After what they did with Ashley, I think he would have done it already himself if he could have. I don't know how he has got through the time here knowing his best friend was going through hell!" I reassure Damian that I know Ryder can do this. That he is strong and has stood against his brother and father on his own for most of the time here... I know he can do this... Please let him be able to do this! I lock my fear away for now. After a few minutes of silence Damian speaks:

"He's been a while; you think he is ok?" I hold my breath a moment, I could never lie to Damian. He always sees straight through me. I have to tell him, or he will go looking for Ryder to check on him.

"Look... The plan worked; He is on his way to fetch Ashley... You can't see her till dad and mum gets here with the guards and shadows or they will have time to come at us... Someone could get hurt; Ashley could get hurt... I'm going to need you to hold it together and when I ask you to leave... Not question me on it." He sits and stares at me for a few minutes before nodding. I release the breath I was holding; I really didn't want to hold my brother from his mate but we both knew this was the right action to take right now... Now I need to keep him distracted... Training, which will also tire him out a little and he can vent a little of the pent-up frustration he must be feeling right now.

"I understand... For her sake I will hold myself at bay... Let's go out back and train for a while to take my mind of chasing Ryder down to get to her with him." He stands and we go up and change. I get into my training gear. Sports leggings and jet-black sports bra before heading back down. I meet Damian and we head out to the open space in front of the cottage. We get into positions.

"Wolf or combat first?" I ask him as we stand in front of each other. I can see people clearing the cottage that is on the other side of the clearing where the royal family will be staying. They all watch us from a distance.

"Combat." I nod and he charges without warning. Throwing punches and kicks back and forth as we go through all the different styles of martial arts we were trained in, We must have been going back and forth for an hour before I put Damian down first before he swings up throwing me off him. Flipping back on to his feet before sweeping my legs out. I hate when he does that.

"Need to be on guard for that one sis, I keep catching you with it!" He laughs. I Take a quick drink before I get back into a fighting stance before charging and jumping on him. I wrap my legs around him and I place my hands to the floor and flip him over me.

"Yeah, I always catch you with that too." I walk up and hold my hand to pull him back up. I know that move always knocks the air out of him for a few moments.

"We have an audience." I link him and he looks around discreetly.

"I can see... Shall we put on a little show and tell?" He asks and I nod but before we start Mark and Mia suddenly jump in and we switch to team fighting. They won’t hold back against us as they begin to circle us. We turn back-to-back to fight, and I end up facing Mark this time. 

"Throw me at Mia!" I link Damian. It’s been a while since we used this manoeuvre. Damian reaches back and takes my arm, twisting round and throws me at Mia. I twist in the air to land a kick to her ribs and gasps are heard from across the field. Mia stands and comes back at me fast. Landing a blow, Splitting the skin just below my cheek as I spin and land a kick to her head. I feel her vines suddenly take hold of one wrist and pull me back. I whip my knife out with my other hand, from my boot and s***h the vine before going back with hand-to-hand combat against her.

"Nice Kay! ... Faster than last Time." Mia says. I smile as we face off again.  She vanishes into the air. I tune into Layla to heighten my hearing and sight. I watch the ground for movement and block the sound of fighting from Mark and Damian. I hear the sound of her moving and I swing left, making contact with her. She drops the invisibility straight away at the shock of me catching her.

"Well done!" She spits a mouthful of blood out before smiling.

"Mark, she did it! ..." Mia calls over to Damian and Mark, who stop fighting and come over to us.

"f**k how did you do that? ... Mark still getting me on that one." He shakes his head.

"I tuned into Layla and heard the wind against her body, I also saw the grass press down as she moved her foot." I explain... One, So Mia will learn to move while invisible better and also so Damian can use the technic next time Mark pulls that move. It's how we train. We fight and say how we beat a move, or they tell us how they beat us... This way we improve together.

"I will have to watch my footing next time... Not much I can do about the wind issue though. I will need to think on that one a bit. You broke through the vines quicker this time though... The second one didn't reach your ankle before you broke my first." She grins at me and I smile back... Took me long enough to learn how to do it that fast... I spent hours with her just throwing a single vine at me and me getting the knife to s***h through it... Looks like it paid off!

"Thanks, how did you do?" I asked Damian. Wanting to know if he has improved on anything or if Mark has. Damian seems to understand what I am asking, He knows me so well by now.

"Marks a lot faster at deflecting against a wolf now. Was it a speed incantation?" Damian asks... Mark is only a witch so has no wolf to help in combat as Mia's dad isn't Marks really dad. He real father was a witch and died before he was born.

"Not at first, But I did use it towards the end." He answers. I grin at that.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

We all turned to see that Alpha Jake was walking towards us. 

"Can't he just get lost?" Layla says... No doubt he is here up to something.

"That was quiet the show... I didn't realise the princess was so well trained!" I hear the sarcasm drip from him. Damian jumps to answer before I can let loose the tirade of insults at him... Why shouldn't I be well trained?

"Yes well, I insisted on her having training should she be attacked, and no-one was there to help her, not that she needs it... My sister can hold her own." Damian covers. I can feel the pride rolling off him for me.

"That looked more than just self-defence! But that's good really, I just came for a quick chat... Is Ryder back here... I can't find him at the moment?" He asked randomly. But Damian cuts in again.

"No actually... He is fetching some of his stuff from the pack house." Damian knows that's not true.

"Oh, I just came from there and he wasn't in the pack house... He did say something earlier about going to see his best friend Ashley, I just thought he would be back by now... They were always closer than any normal wolf and she-wolf should be as Friends." He says looking directly at me... He is trying to stir me up with jealousy that my mate is with another she-wolf... I growl a little to give him the response he was looking for.

"Sorry about that, I'm not really concerned... He is looking for this reaction so I gave it to him so he won’t question why I wouldn't be jealous like a normally new mated she-wolf would be if she were told her mate was with another woman." I link to Mia, Mark and Damian.

"Oh, I am sure it’s purely innocent between them, don’t worry princess... Although it was always an issue between him and his other flings, they never liked Ashley around Ryder with how close they are... Now Ian never treated any of his girlfriends like that... It's only one of the ways them two are different... Ian always was the more caring of the two... Desperate for his mate or just a girl to love him, the way he deserves to be... Ryder is a bit of a player, But I am sure you can change that in him." He muses out. Now if I didn't already know my man... I admit I would have been concerned.

"Don't listen to him Kayla! He knows as Royal's we can reject our mates at any time... He is trying to plant doubt for Ryder and push Ian towards you as a better option..." Mia says.

"I know but I must act as if its working... I would have felt Ryder being a player, but he has been fully faithful to me."

"How close are they really?" I ask playing along.

"Very, A lot always thought they are in a relationship..." I growl and pretend to storm off grabbing Mia on the way.

"Did you just come to stir s**t up with me sister ALPHA?" I hear Damian growl and I can sense Max is at the edge. I stop and turn back.

"Damian, I am sure that Alpha Jake didn't mean anything by it... Besides it’s always good to go into a relationship with your eyes open." I say. Damian comes towards me and all four of us go back into the cottage. I check the time and realise that Ryder has been gone for five hours. I hope he is back before mum and dad gets here.

"Kayla babe! I am on route with Ashley, and she is in a real bad way... I have carried her all of the way... She is covered in blood apparently a customer got very handy with her last night... She has not woken up since he knocked her out.... I'll be there in 20 minutes." I can hear him close to tears and suddenly feel his heartbreak for his best friend.

"Damian go for a run and don't come back till I tell you the rentals are here." I link Damian and dash upstairs. I hear the front door close as I come back down with clothes and my personal med kit.

"Bring her here to the cottage and lay her straight on the kitchen table." I link Ryder back before talking to Mia.

"Mia... Emergency incoming... Ryder's friend has had a beating." She nods and starts laying equipment out on the side. Conjuring up anything she doesn't have. Mark uses the medical scrub and washes the table down. We have all trained in the infirmary wing of the pack hospital and are trained for emergency cases... We run around and are ready as Ryder busts through the door with Ian coming in, In toe behind him.

"Ryder, I f*****g told you she needs the medical wing." He growls at him.

"f**k off Ian... Kayla said bring her here when I linked her that a friend had had a ... Beating!" He catches himself in time. Mark makes screens appear and brings them round Ashley, who is now laid out on the table. Mia jumps into action and cuts her clothes off and starts taking stock of her injuries she has.

"Kayla get him out of here... She needs you to heal her or she won’t survive the next hour or so!" Mia shouts through my link to me and I jump into action... I look back at the screens as Ryder paces back and forth and Ian looks on scared. I see Ian has taken a few hits that I will have to ask about later.

"Ian... I need you to leave now... They need to work and so do I... We are fully trained by the best doctors and also have access to magic which your pack doctor doesn’t... But I need you to leave NOW!" I growl as he looks as he is about to argue. Ryder grabs him by his neck and throws him through the door before he can start to argue back at me.

"Mia... BUBBLE!" She casts a sight and sound bubble and I grab Ryder to pull him behind the screens with me... I will need his help as I cannot take her pain and heal her at the same time...
