The Return of the Witches

Maddison I growled as I swiftly moved towards Adrian and threw a fist at his face. He was quick enough to dodge it, provoking me to the core. He ran into the woods, teasing me to follow him. Heaven knows how tempting it was to attack the unknown hiding behind Adrian's face, but I didn't want to hurt him. He was running so fast I thought I would be left behind; but I was wrong. I was agitated at whoever was using Adrian's body but amazed at the discovery of what seemingly made me feel powerful. The woods became a playground as I chased him, jumping from tree to tree. He was whooping with delight, pissing me off. I couldn't understand what was happening, and I couldn't believe my eyes, seeing how fast I was running at a speed that I had never done before. It was like I was flying with the wind and above the ground. Adrian stopped upon reaching a raging waterfall. He smirked devilishly as the waters raged violently with angry waves. "Hmmm . . . I bet you are enjoying your greatest discovery, Amara. Why don't you use them? Don’t you know that power is the most important thing in the world? You can be who you want to be and do whatever you want to do. Anyone would be so envious to take it away from you.” "Yeah, like you? You’ve been chasing me since day one for this so-called power that I don’t even have or care about.” "Really?" He huffed. "How reckless and lunatic of you! You seem to reject power, thinking you won’t need it one day.” I scoffed. “I think it’s you who’s being lunatic here, whoever you are. Why don’t you show yourself, coward?” “Coward? Show myself? Ha ha! If I was a coward, I should not have invaded your room, should I? “What? You were that thing? W-What are you? Who are you? What do you want from me?” “Who am I? I am Ava from the supernatural world.” “Supernatural world?” I laughed. “You’re bluffing, aren’t you?” “Am I? You won’t believe it, but you, Amara, are a supernatural being. Tell me, how does it feel to run like the wind? Have you ever made the skies gray with lightning and thunder roaring into the air? Have you ever seen your eyes turn black?” He grinned. I took a step back. “No, this can’t be. This is unbelievable. This can't be happening. This isn't real!" "Everything is real, Amara. If you want to keep your powers, there's just one thing you need to do . . . Let me in." “What?” “You have to let me in and use your body. I am invisible, and that explains why I am inside Adrian’s body. The thing is, I need the body’s consent before I can freely dwell in it. So, give me your consent, and I shall leave your friend’s body at once.” “N-No. Never!” “Let me in, Amara,” Adrian said, walking towards me. “No!” I said, turning around and running away. “You think you’re the only one who’s fast, Amara? Think again.” In an instant, I fled from Adrian and sprinted. The chasing game resumed, and this time, he was more adamant about catching me. “You can never run away for the rest of your life, Amara. You shall soon get tired of rejecting the truth until no choice is left but to accept your true identity,” he said. My feet soon grew tired, and I almost fell on my knees when a branch hit me. I stumbled and rolled on the ground, grunting. I could see Adrian approaching me, and soon enough, he flew into the air and landed before me. I was shaking with fear as the sky turned to its darkest point. Suddenly, the wind formed a tornado behind Adrian, making my eyes grow wide in panic. “Let me in, or I shall take all your friends to their death, and you shall be blamed for it.” ‘“Maddison, help us! Help us!” Hannah, Olivia, and Arthur floated in the air towards the deadly tornado. “No! Stop it!” I cried. “Just say the word, Amara. Let me in.” Half of my mind wanted to save the lives of my friends, but half of me wasn't convinced that giving up was the right choice. “Let me in!” Adrian raised his voice, aiming a rock at my face. “Excessus!” Something unseen tossed Adrian against a tree, making Adrian grunt in pain. I looked to see who it was and was astonished to see Hannah. Her once natural gray eyes turned to gold, and she was glowing with light surrounding her. Olivia and Arthur were floating unconsciously inside a sealed bubble made of light. “Hannah?” I uttered with wide eyes, freezing for a moment. “You are a witch! I was right all along.” Adrian laughed as he stood up and walked towards Hannah. “So that is why Amara seemed so protected. It’s because of you, young witch! Ah, I should have known.” “I have no idea what is happening to me, but I have already anticipated that this day would come,” Hannah said in an outstretched hand as her hair danced with the wind. “Maddison, don’t waste your time. Get up and run . . . now!” Hannah’s voice rang in my ears with power that I immediately stood on my feet and moved, but paused to look at her. “How about you?” I asked. “Don’t worry about me. Now, go!” she commanded. “Be careful,” I said. I bolted my way against the vast woods that seemed to eat me alive. Of course, I admit I was having fun with my newly-found powers, though I got distracted hearing Hannah’s screams and groans. I could feel something strange inside me—something dangerous but satisfying. I smiled to myself as I leaped from branch to branch. Everything seemed nostalgic, and it suddenly gave me a feeling of deja vu. My fear turned into excitement, and I couldn’t figure out why. Standing on one of the tallest trees, I looked down below and took in the view. I was filled with unexplainable delight, like I wasn’t me anymore. I closed my eyes and breathed. "Ah, the sweet scent of the future," I uttered, then my eyes turned black.
