I blended myself with the humans as they walked on the busy streets. Not knowing where to go, I followed random people to their destinations with hopes to find a body to use. In the supernatural world, beings could come back to life through magic in another body while in the world of humans, a dead body could come back to life—with another soul.
My mind wandered back to the wolf who attacked me. Ever since it bit me, I could no longer track Amara’s scent. It seemed like the bite had a curse, blocking me from tracing my mortal enemy. I huffed in annoyance. Burning with the desire to fulfill my mission, I rushed to find any desperate soul that I could take advantage of.

“Hey! What’s up?” I answered my phone.
“Hey, ahm . . . coffee?” Michael invited.
“Ah . . .” I looked at my watch. “Yeah . . . sure . . . It’s still 2PM anyway, and my parents are not at home. Where do you wanna go?” I asked.
“Anywhere you want to go. Your call,” he said.
“Okay. How about . . . Joe’s Cafe.”
“Joe’s Cafe?”
“Absolutely.”
“Alright then. I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Sure,” I said, smiling and giggling.
Grabbing a pair of black jeans and a loose white shirt, I looked at my reflection in the mirror and put the garments on. Feeling unsatisfied, I added some light hues on my cheeks and lips. Ah, could this be that thing they called dating? I never thought that dating could be this nerve-wracking and intense that I couldn't decided on what to wear and how to look like. I just wanted to look pretty in Michael's eyes. Minutes later, the doorbell rang that jolted me into breaking my lipstick.
“It's Michael!” I gasped.
I hurriedly wiped the lipstick stain on my face and fixed my hair before climbing down the stairs.
“Hi,” I said.
“Hi,” he responded. “Shall we?”
“Ready,” I said, putting my sling bag on.
It was as if I was marching on air as we walked towards his luxurious car and drove off. The sky was clear, and the sun seemed to dance as I looked at it through my sunglasses. I glanced at Michael whose eyes were fixed on the road. His eyes may have been on the highway, but his smile was on me.
“So, what’s keeping you busy on weekends?” I asked.
“Nothing really. I just stay at home and watch TV, then I found a new friend and then my life changed,” he said, making me blush.
I looked into his eyes and without warning, he stopped the car on the side of the road and cupped my face. Oh . . . Is this what they call 'first kiss'? I tried not to giggle in my thoughts. Slowly, he leaned in closer and brushed his lips against mine. I closed my eyes, feeling lost in his touch as my lips reciprocated to his kiss. His minty breath fanned my face without noticing that my hands were crawling slowly underneath his shirt.
He took his shirt off, exposing his chiseled chest and muscled biceps. Without warning, he pulled me in and bathed my face with kisses and caress. I begged him for more when he paused to look at me, and he granted my plea with no hesitation. Our bodies were like candles, melting in flames and running out of breathe. He moved his hands in front of me and held my towering breasts, stroking them gently as I moaned.
“Oh Michael, please . . . don't stop . . . more . . . please . . .”
“Maddie?”
“Michael . . .”
“Maddie? Are you okay?”
“What?” I opened my eyes and realized that Michael was driving.
“Anything okay?” he asked, glancing between me and the road.
“Ah . . . yeah. I just . . . remembered something.”
“Is it too personal to share with me?”
“No . . . It’s nothing . . . nothing serious actually.”
“Are you sure? I mean, you can share anything with me. I’m a good listener.” He chuckled.
“It’s just about school. I mean, there’s nothing at all. Just a guy at school who loves to bully me.”
Sorry Andrew, you're the only one I can use as an excuse, I thought.
His face became serious and stopped the car on the side of the road.
Now, this is real, I said mentally, remembering my fantasy earlier.
“Who’s the guy?” he asked, looking mad.
“Ah . . . Andrew. He’s the son of the owner of the school, and he doesn’t stop making fun of me.”
He took a deep breath before switching the engine on again. “Just don’t let him see me. He’ll be dead in no time.”
Hearing his words made me blush or scared for my ultimate school enemy; I’m not sure.
“Hey, take it easy. I’ll be fine—”
The car screeched to a stop.
“Stay here,” he said, opening the front door and climbing out.
With my eyes on him, Michael walked towards a big broken branch, lying in the middle of the road. He took his shirt off and wrapped it around the branch.
“O . . . M . . . G . . . Look at those muscles . . . and abs . . .” I uttered.
He glanced at me and smiled before carrying the heavy limb to the other side. Once the branch was on the safe side, he crossed the road towards me as he wore his shirt back on. I could literally imagine myself drooling like a dog at this hot guy before my eyes. Upon reaching the middle part of the highway, something hit him and made his body fly helplessly onto the ground.
“Michael!” I screamed.
