“I have to congratulate you for being such a good actress, my love,” Orpheus said.
“My pleasure,” the woman answered.
“Do you think Ava believed you when you told her about Emma?” Orpheus breathed in with the glass of wine touching his nose.
The woman chuckled. “She is such a gullible being, Orpheus,” she said as he sat beside him, clinking her glass against his. “Cheers.”
Orpheus placed his arm around the woman’s shoulder. The woman glanced over her shoulder and smiled. “What are your plans, dear Orpheus?”
“The human world is beginning to drown itself in chaos. No one knows we have built the secret tunnel between the past and the future. For that, we need Amara's blood to activate the secret doorway,” Orpheus said, brushing his lips against hers.
“I can see how good you are in using Ava.” The woman chuckled.
“Well, that’s my expertise. I need her to be our eyes, to be our spy in the future world and see what’s happening. We have to be ready to meet the beast,” Orpheus said with anger in his eyes.
“Oh, that beast. That monster destroyed our world. Ah, I could still recall how bloody the war was,” the woman replied.
“Thanks to your powers," he whispered before biting the woman’s ears gently.
“Of course. I know how useful the girl is, my dear,” she said, closing her eyes and caressing Orpheus’s face with her lips.
Stimulated, Orpheus touched his hardening manhood and moaned. He placed his wine glass on the table and leaned over as he gently laid the woman on the couch. “Let me take you to the real paradise,” he said, spreading the woman’s legs apart.

Maddison
“Hey!”
I looked around to see who it was. “Hannah,” I responded with a smile as she sat beside me.
My attention was focused at the girls who were dancing, and I was pretty sure Hannah noticed it. Thinking about how I was kicked out from the cheering squad, I sighed.
“You okay?” she asked.
“What? Ah, yeah. I’m fine,” I answered.
“You sure you are? I don’t think so,” she said.
“Well . . . They replaced me, what can I do?”
“But you wanted to dance, don’t you?”
“Hell, yeah. But it seems like I don’t seem acceptable, so I guess . . .” I took a deep breath. “I might as well forget it, if it’s the last thing I should do.”
“Oh, come on. Wanna have some fun?”
“What do you mean ‘wanna have some fun’?”
“To dance!” she said with glee.
I looked at the girls, then back to Hannah. “No, never mind. You know it’s impossible,” I said, standing up.
“Wait, where are you going?” Hannah grabbed my hand and placed my books on the seat next to her.
“Where else would it be? Of course, to leave this boring gym and go home,” I said, taking my books.
“Ah-ah. No, you can’t go home just yet. Let’s have some fun, bwitches,” she whispered, making my brows furrowed. She took my hand and dragged me down the stairs.
“W-Wait! Hey, what are you doing? Hannah, wait!”
“This is going to be exciting.” She giggled as we jogged towards the girls.
“Hi coach Sean,” Hannah said.
I was literally embarrassed that I bowed my head and hid behind Hannah.
“Hi, pretty. You are . . .”
“I know I’m pretty. My name is Hannah, and here is Maddie. I’m here to boldly say that she deserves to be the cheerleader better than anyone else.”
The coach paused while the girls looked at each other. I could sense them chuckling, and I could feel the world eating me alive.
“Hannah, stop it,” I said with a low voice, holding my books closer to my chest.
After a moment of silence, the girls could no longer control their amusement and finally burst into laughter.
"Hannah, you must be mistaken. Maddison needs to do some self-meditation—”
“Meditation on what, Coach?” Hannah cut him off.
“Well, she keeps on getting late on our practices when the competition is coming in a week. I need competitive and determined participants,” he said, glancing at me while I was hiding myself behind Hannah. “Our competitors are reigning champions, and we have to defeat them. Do you think we can win against them with a lazy cheerleader?”
Ouch, that hurt. I didn’t know if I should be angry or not, but I knew my ego was screaming for justice. I cleared my throat and composed myself before facing them.
“Ah, I’m sorry for . . . interrupting your practice guys,” I said, looking at Hannah. “Hannah, let’s go,” I said, pulling her skirt.
“Okay,” Hannah said. “If something happens on the day of the competition, you know who the best person to lead the squad is.” She winked.
The girls mocked and laughed as we walked away from them. “Pathetic,” Harper muttered.
“Hannah, what did you do? That was so embarrassing, come on!” I said.
“Chill, Maddie. Just wait and see. You may have been embarrassed today, but watch and see what happens in the next few days,” she said with a smirk. “Cheer up!”
“I thought it’s going to be fun. Where’s the ‘fun’ that you’re talking about here?” I said, taking my things.
“The fun . . . has just begun.” She grinned, and I rolled my eyes.
“Really—Hey!” I exclaimed when somebody with a strange, cold sensation bumped into me, making me freeze for a moment. “Don’t you know how to say ‘sorry’?” I finally uttered.
“Who was that girl?” Hannah asked and looked at the stranger walking away like nothing happened.
“I don’t know,” I answered, picking my things up. “It seems like she did it on purpose.”
“Do you think she knows you?” Hannah asked.
“No I don’t, but . . . never mind.” I dismissed my thought and turned around to scrutinize the mysterious girl who simply ignored me.
The girl stopped in her tracks from afar and turned to look at me, but the hallway was dark that I couldn’t see her face in full. I couldn’t explain what I felt, but the cold sensation made my flesh creep.
