Kyle's POV
I watched as Tei left the cafeteria and then glared at Tyler, "Do you not have a brain in your head? What made you ask that?!" I growled. He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, "Sorry man, I didn't know it would upset her. I was just curious. You normally don't see bandages like that." he said.
Ryan sighed, "Sometimes I wonder how you get the grades you do. Think dummy, if werewolves heal, then why would she need bandages when she gets hurt?" he asked, speaking slowly as if to a child. Tyler glared, then his eyes widened, and he blushed, "Oh." he said simply, and I nodded.
"She hasn't gotten her wolf, I'm not sure she has one, though she does have the senses and can link. But at this point, people believe she's an Omega. Trust me, it's a sore spot for her." I explained quietly as Matt came back. He sat and slumped over, putting his head in his hands, "She's not coming." he said sadly, and I chuckled at his dramatics.
Ryan looked at him calmly, "Did she say why?" he asked, and Matt nodded, "She said she's got things to do after school, but I think she's just using that as an excuse. She doesn't want to be around us." he said pouting and I snorted. "Right, because you guys will be the only ones hanging out at the mall with her," I said sarcastically. Matt looked up at me, "You mean it wasn't an excuse?" he asked hope filling his gray eyes.
I laughed, "I'm sure part of it was, but Tei really does have things to do after school. She's not one for going out and having fun." I replied looking at the three curiously. What was their interest in her?
Tyler frowned, "Why not? Everyone should have fun." I shook my head, I refused to tell them about how our parents treated her. Not only would it cause more problems for Tei, but she would be extremely angry and embarrassed to be the subject of pity.
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, and I grabbed my tray and took it to the cleaning area. The triplets followed chatting away with the other guys behind me. I wished I could do more for Tei but she wouldn't take any money if I tried to leave it for her. If our parents caught her with it, they'd just beat her and then return it to me.
My fists clenched, I hated having to stand there and watch them abuse her. When we were younger, I tried to step in and keep them from hurting her but all that did was make it worse. Mom would drag me away and say she wasn't worth it while Dad beat her worse for getting me involved. I learned it was better for her if I didn't interfere, but I left first aid supplies in secret and tried to look over her injuries whenever we could get a moment alone.
We walked out of the cafeteria and headed to the library; the period after lunch was always study hall, and most students needed to use the time to go over notes for the finals next week.
As we walked, I heard something slam into the lockers near the library. There was a grunt of pain but the slamming continued. The triplets stopped, shocked, then ran as fast as they could toward the noise. I followed hoping that it wasn't who I thought it was.
We rounded the corner but found nobody. Ryan looked around, confused, but I stiffened at the scent left behind, Tei, and the overpowering smell of blood. I held up my hand, following the scent, and found the spot where someone had been beaten. There were a few drops of blood on a dented locker and the scent of several shewolves crowding around it.
"Kyle!" Tyler called and I turned to see him and Matt surrounding a corner near the library door. Ryan was kneeling next to someone, talking gently. I ran over and sure enough, Tei was huddled in the corner, tears streaming down her face as she held my jacket tightly around her.
"Tei! What happened?" I asked as I kneeled on the other side of her, checking her over. There were bruises on her face and blood trickled down from a cut on her temple. She shook her head and sobbed, launching herself into my arms and clutching me tightly. I held her gently, not wanting to aggravate any injuries she had, and rocked her gently, "Hey, hey, you're safe. I'm here Tei, I'm here." I said soothingly as she shivered.
"I was trying to get her to tell me what happened, but she refused," Ryan said quietly. I nodded, She doesn't trust people easily. She won't open up to someone she doesn't know well. I linked knowing Tei hated being talked about like she wasn't right here. Ryan nodded and stepped back understanding that she probably wouldn't open up in front of a stranger, "We'll give you guys some privacy." he said as he turned to his brothers and looked at them pointedly. Matt nodded reluctantly but Tyler looked stubborn. He obviously didn't want to leave her so vulnerable.
Ryan started to grab him and drag him away when I stopped him, "Tyler, can you please go let Ms. Wilson know that Teira wasn't feeling well and needs to head home for the day? Tell her that I had to take her home." I said calmly. Tyler looked at me, and I nodded reassuringly; I wasn't about to leave my sister like this.
He nodded, "You got it. Feel better Teira." he said quietly. He went to reach out and touch her head but thought better of it and walked down the hall with Matt and Ryan following after him.
Tei stopped shaking after they left and began to hiccup quietly; she pushed off me and sat up, still clutching the coat. "Ready to talk?" I asked. She blew out a shaky breath but nodded calmly, "I was headed for the library when I remembered I needed a book from my locker. So I stopped to get it, when I closed the locker, I noticed a bunch of girls and guys were surrounding me. I didn't know what they wanted, so I tried to brush past them and head to the library when one of the girls grabbed my hair and yanked me back, asking where I thought I was going."
"I told them that I needed to study when one of them snorted, saying that I could study as much as I wanted, but that didn't mean I would be worth anything. Another smirked and said she didn't know what the triplets saw in me with my trashy jeans and ugly sweater. And who did I think I was to sit at their table?" tears started to well in her eyes and I wiped them with my hand.
"What happened next, Tei," I whispered. She shuddered, "I told them it wasn't my choice, I had been invited by you and Ryan. One of them slammed my head into the locker, saying there was no way Ryan Mason would even think about hanging out with trash like me, and I must have been throwing myself at them, trying to boost my position in the pack. I tried to explain but they weren't listening. Another girl suddenly looked at the guys and said if I wanted to boost my pack standing that badly, then why didn't the guys show me how." she murmured.
My hold on her tightened, surely they didn't do what I thought. She started to cry again and I held her, letting her get it out before continuing, "Did they...did they do anything, Tei?" I whispered. She shuddered, obviously not wanting to remember. "The girls backed off and I tried to run, but one guy grabbed me from behind and held my arms while another started touching my chest. He said there wasn't much there but he could work with it. I tried to struggle, but they just held me tighter; I yelled no so many times." she whispered.
"They dragged me into a dark corner and tore my sweater and bra, whenever I tried to stop them, I just got punched again and again. Two of them began sucking on my breasts while a third was making his way down to my pants. He was about to tear them when one of the girls whistled and they jumped up and ran. I heard footsteps so I wrapped my coat tight around me and huddled as much as I could into the corner when the triplets found me." she finished.
I growled, seeing red; I was trying my hardest not to let my claws come out and hurt her. She had been through enough already. "Do you know who it was?" I asked, and she looked at me fearfully, shaking her head. I narrowed my eyes at her but didn't push, I'd ask again later.
The triplets came back after about thirty minutes holding Tei's destroyed bag and scattered papers in their hands, "We found these near the locker and Ms. Wilson says to take your time. And she hopes Teira feels better." Matt said and I nodded. I helped Tei up from the ground, but she stumbled, and Tyler snorted angrily. He scooped her up in his arms and held her, looking at me pointedly, "Lead the way." he said, ignoring Tei's wide eyes.
I nodded and headed for the doors and out to the parking lot. Dad normally dropped me off, but they always insisted I had a ride home if I needed it. A blue Mustang sat waiting for me, and I unlocked it with my keys; Tyler set Tei gently into the passenger seat and placed a jacket on her lap. "It's a bit thicker than the one you're wearing," he said gently. She thanked him quietly, and he backed off, letting Matt set her bag down on the floor, "I have an extra bag you can use; I'll bring it to training for Kyle to give you." he said, and Tei began to protest, but he smiled and buckled her seatbelt.
Ryan stood next to me, "I'll get the details later; just take care of her." he said, and I nodded. Nobody was going to hurt my sister again. He leaned down as I got into the driver's seat and closed her door, looking at her softly. I c****d my head, they obviously had it bad for my sister.
I buckled my seatbelt and drove away, heading home; I hoped I could convince Tei to stay home the rest of the day and rest, but knowing her, she wouldn't. I would get her home and take care of her until I had to leave for training and if my parents tried to make a fuss, I'd expose their treatment of her to the entire pack.
Come h*ll or high water; no one was going to get away with hurting my sister anymore.
