Sebastian
After having the meeting with the council, I walked out of the room along with my assistants to go down and have a small break. The council was driving a stake up my ass and I was getting irritated by their bullshit. I needed an escape.
“What else do you have on list, Nina?” I asked as I stepped inside the glass elevator. I leaned on the glass and rested my head for a moment while Nina went through her list.
“I have arranged a meeting with Mr. Beckman and Mr. Thomas for the new promotion campaign that is taking place in March 12th.” Nina explained quickly.
“And that’s all?” I asked.
“Yes, Mr. Russell, that is all.” She said before giving me a small smile. Alongside Nina, I had another one of my assistants, Brianna who was moreover my home assistant but I liked to keep her by my side. I liked both of them.
My girls.
“Would you like to go somewhere for lunch?” Nina asked during the elevator ride. We were going 19 floors down so it was going to take time.
“Yes...actually no, I’ll have it my office. I just need a smoking break now, let me know if someone comes to my office and keep my phone as well. Don’t pick up any calls,” I stated as I handed her my phone. I preferred not having my phone most of time, it was a distraction that I didn’t need.
A few loud voices reached to me as the elevator went down. I turned around to see the source of those voices and then I found two people arguing, in my building, loudly.
“Stop here,” I stated as I saw a man yelling at a women—that’s something they don’t do in my company.
The elevator stopped and I stormed outside. “Who is this?” I asked Nina who kept tracks of everyone coming in and going out.
“This is Gabriel Martin, one of the sales manager.” Nina replied back.
I approached the man and whoever the woman was. I was about throw another fit if they didn’t stop yelling at each other.
“Is this place to throw an argument?” Folding my hands across my chest, I asked. The man quickly silenced down and the woman turned around to me.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Russell.” The man apologized for his behavior but the woman didn’t. I waited and no response came from her. Her sterling glare landed on mine. I felt a wave of something uncontrollable pass through me.
Stop, Sebastian.
“Take this inside your office, please.” I stated coldly before turning away.
“Of course,”
Just before I could leave, I saw tears—real tears brim down the woman’s cheek. No one makes a woman cry, at least in my company.
“And see me after you’re done with this discussion.” I added and than walked away. I went down the basement with multiple feelings, anger, lust, sympathy?
When I took the elevator down, I couldn’t stop staring at the office where that woman was. Obeying my instructions, they went inside a room but the man didn’t stop yelling, he continued for as long as I watched. It angered me to a point I couldn’t control.
“Mr. Russell, the basement.” Nina said, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Who was that woman?” I asked. Could it be one of the clients he was handling?
Nina shrugged, “I have never seen her before but she could be one of Mr. Gabriel’s sales promoter.”
“I want to see him after I’m done,”
“Yes, sir.”
Once I was done with my smoking break, I returned back to my office and had Nina call Gabriel up to my office. Tapping my pen on the desk, I waited.
The door opened and Nina bought him inside. “Ah, Gabriel Martin, please have a seat.” I instructed. Once he sat down, I motioned Nina to leave and she did.
“I apologize for the scene earlier, it was totally unexpected.” Gabriel said.
“What was the argument about?” I asked as I leaned back on my chair.
“Just something—don’t worry.” There was a hint of hesitation in his tone.
“I want the right answer, Mr. Gabriel. Don’t make me repeat my question twice.” I stated. “Who is that woman? And why were you yelling at her?”
“She’s one of my sales promoter and due to some mishap that she did, I terminated her from the job but she didn’t want to leave. However, all that is been taken care of now.” He finally explained.
Promoter.
“Mishap? What kind of mishap?”
The question terrified Gabriel, it seemed like this all had a bigger back story than I expected it too. I could clearly see that Gabriel was scared to tell me the truth, after all, I was his CEO.
“Tell me,” I ordered.
“One of my important clients opened a dispute and cancelled all his contract that he had with Russell properties because somehow, that woman insulted him or something when she was under the influence of alcohol.” He explained. I placed my hand underneath my chin and nodded my head. What an interesting story!
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to do anything. I contacted the client numerous times but he didn’t want to work it out. I had no idea what that woman had said to him.” He continued with a shrug.
“So? Does that mean you go around insulting her in the middle of my building? And that too very loudly?” I asked.
“No, that was my fault. I apologize for my behavior, Mr. Russell.” Gabriel said as he narrowed down his eyes.
“A woman is supposed to be respected in front of other men regardless of the woman being under you or above you. I do not condone disrespect in my company. And you made her cry, for god sake, show some respect.” I yelled. “Return back now, I’ll take care of this all.” I added.
Gabriel silently got up and left the room. I had Nina come in as soon as he left.
“I want the girl, what’s her name? Where is she now?” I asked her.
“Keira Marrow and she had left the building a few minutes earlier.” Nina said. M
“f**k,” I groaned and twisted around. I wanted to see her—in private.
“Could you call her from the reception and ask her to come by tomorrow?”
“Of course, Mr. Russell. What time would you like to meet her?” Nina asked.
“12, 1-ish.”
“Sure, anything else?”
“No, that will all be.”
As soon as Nina walked out, Tristan stepped inside and waved his hand on the air.
“Oh, Tristan, good!” I rolled my eyes at the back of my head and said. I wanted some time alone to think but I guess I could no longer get it since Tristan was on the premises.
“How are you doing?” Tristan asked as he jumped on the seat, almost breaking it. He was a year younger than me but he still couldn’t behave like a man.
“I’m fine. Why are you here? We were supposed to meet in evening,” I trailed off.
“Yes, but I thought of passing by. Sebastian could always use a friend like me.” He continued with a wink.
Tristan and I were college buddies. My father had known his family for long and they were friends too. I preferred being alone in my personal life as I barely had a family anymore but Tristan stuck to my side. He was an irritating yet a charming friend I always needed.
“What’s worrying you?” Tristan asked after a moment.
“The council-the board, whatever. They are up my ass. They want me to start a new project this year but I clearly don’t want to and they don’t understand that.” I explained.
“So you don’t have too. You’re the CEO. You own more than half of the shares in this company. Reject them.” Tristan suggested.
“I have already done that,” I said with a smile as I leaned closer. I couldn’t allow anyone to control my decisions.
“Of course, you have done that.” Tristan repeated. “Why are you still worried?” He asked.
I shrugged while rubbing the back of my head. I had no idea why I was worried. I had everything under my control. Nina came inside to ask Tristan whether he wanted something to drink.
Tristan didn’t give a straight response, instead, he dragged the conversation by telling her how beautiful she looked today in that tight white skirt that made her ass pop.
“Nina,” I called her out and she quickly looked away from Tristan. “Please leave us,” I said with a smile.
She walked away immediately.
“I want to f**k her,” Tristan said.
“She is my assistant!” I stated.
“Clearly she wants to be f****d too,” he argued.
“That’s not happening,”
“Blondie, oh, I love them.”
“You aren’t getting anywhere close to her,”
Tristan wasn’t giving up, “Why? You feel for her?” He asked suspiciously.
“No but she’s my assistant and I like to keep them away from all sorts of unnecessary activities like s*x. If you want her, take her out of my premises than and do whatever you want.” I explained, hoping he would understand. I created strict rules and regulations for this building and it had to be followed.
“Fine, I am going to go take my blondie out.” Tristan got up.
“Her work doesn’t finishes until I leave,” I reminded him.
“Don’t worry, I’m just asking.” Tristan walked out of the front door and went to see Nina so he could ask her out on a date and then pound her ass.
It was that simple for him. Just to go ahead and ask them out. But not for me. I needed assurance, authenticity and secrecy. I couldn’t f**k anyone on the streets as my lifestyle was completely different.
It was on a different stage of madness.
