I turn to look at Kai, and I notice one eye is gray and the other is black, meaning his wolf is present with him. Both of them suffered thinking I’d been killed, even if it was for ten seconds.
My heart hurts for my mate. I never wanted to cause him pain, but I know pain is what he’s feeling right now.
“Kai,” I gasp his name, then run into his arms. I wrap my arms around his neck and bury my face in his shoulder as he lifts me off the ground.
“My baby,” He mumbles against my hair. “I thought I’d lost you.”
