Zayd blinked down at her, seemingly speechless. If Lilyan wasn't so anxious, she probably would have laughed at how shocked he looked. He blinked again, his eyebrows still furrowed as he gazed deeply into her eyes. She brushed her fingers lightly across his cheek, then placed her hand flat on her stomach. Zayd's eyes glanced over at their clasped hands that rested on her chest. She looked away from his face to follow his line of sight. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze, then pulled her hand away, folding it on top of her stomach as well.
