August 23 2:11 P.M. Bellner Street Downtown Channing Alfred popped his head into Tate’s office. Tate looked up from his work and smiled. “Dad, what’s going on?” “Checking in.” Alfred stepped inside the room. “Hope I’m not interrupting.” Tate shook his head. “Of course not.” He stood from his chair, walked around his desk, and provided his father with an endearing and engaging hug. Following the embrace, Tate and Alfred sat across from each other at Tate’s desk. Tate watched the man pull out a picture of Tate’s mother: Gwendaline Mae Rubinski-Blackwood. A stunning woman. More than beautiful. The reason for Tate’s kindly sloped nose, soft eyes, and smooth complexion. Model beauty. Alfred placed the photograph face-up on the desk. “Your mother. My beloved.
