As we left the movie theater, I was in a really good mood. It felt strange, considering we hadn’t actually seen the movie or spent much time together, but I felt so relaxed around him. Chris was nothing like I had expected. Most guys in my world were so… superior, or at least they acted that way.
But walking beside Chris, joking and laughing, he felt completely different. He was kind and funny. How had I ever been scared of him?
“So, I’m guessing you need my help again,” I said as he walked me to the door.
He smiled, looking a bit embarrassed. “If you want.”
“Kate wants to be with you. Even if I’m a bit mad at her, I want her to be happy. It seems like you’re making her happy.”
